“I’m not sure about her true intentions, but Casilena will certainly be the biggest obstacle. Unlike that Taquilas woman. She’s a girl who can become a lamp that illuminates her surroundings.”

“But, O Sun, they are still just a handful compared to the despair and hatred occurring in this world.”

“How foolish. Originally, even a single point of light is enough to illuminate the darkness.”

He shook his head with a smirk as he blankly watched the news flowing from the building’s electronic display. The news was broadcasting about the murder Rene had committed in broad daylight.

The middle-aged man standing next to him, however, just stood there with a stern face.

“Your pastor colleague has fallen into the hands of the enemies alive. It’s impossible for him to reveal anything, but I want to prepare for the worst. I also want to warn them. They still think I’m just some monster.”

    “Please give your orders.”

“It’s about time we create ‘stems’ in the political world as well. However, as is often the case with those in power, it will be difficult to find ‘noble despair’ that could become true seeds.”

“Don’t worry. I’ve already figured out some things to an extent.”

The middle-aged man, Pastor Lee Kyung-sik, answered without hesitation. He was so thorough and merciless that even the Lord of Despair and Hatred was slightly surprised.

“There’s not a hint of hesitation in you. Do you truly believe that I am the truth and salvation? Do you love your daughter that much?”

“The Sun has already shown me a miracle. So there’s nothing I cannot do.”

Lee Gyeong-sik nodded and answered immediately. He smiled with satisfaction.

With such loyal subordinates assisting him, he was almost regaining all the power he had lost.

“It’s time to cast the bait and make our approach.”

After parting ways with him, Lee Gyeong-sik got into his car alone and made a phone call somewhere. It was to quickly carry out his instructions.

“Then, I’ll start approaching that person, Jo Ui-seok.”

The person who received Lee Gyeong-sik’s call acknowledged the instructions and informed that they would move immediately.

Forces that follow the Black Sun Smalilian, spread throughout society. All of these were arrangements Lee Gyeong-sik had made in just a few months.

    “…”

After hanging up, his eyes fixed on the mobile phone’s screen.

The young child in the photo set as the background was smiling brightly. The smile of his daughter that he once thought he would never see again.

‘If I could see this again, what does it matter if the other party is a demon or whatever. Perhaps even this is God’s will.’

The mind of the former clergyman was already firm.

    ***

    “Is there really progress?”

“Of course. Of course, getting the answers will be our job.”

The moment Lee Gyeong-sik would move to carry out the orders after making contact with Smalilian.

In this place, treated as top secret and guarded by none other than SS-rank magical girl Karin, several people were putting their heads together and struggling.

What was causing them such a headache was a man trapped in a sturdy glass prison.

The man, grinning, had a tiara with large rolling eyes placed on his head.

“Anyway, it’s fortunate… that we have at least some clues to catch the monsters hurting people.”

He sighed with a face worn out from fatigue. Though he looked a bit young to be a typical politician, he was clearly a politician belonging to a major party.

“Don’t worry too much about this side. Aren’t you already suffering from their unreasonable slander?”

“That’s right. In this situation, how can fighting over rice bowls make any sense? What does it matter if it’s the Special Forces or magical girls? Right now, people are dying and growing angry.”

Director Lee Min-hyung offered words of comfort, but Jo Ui-seok sighed even more deeply and lamented. Lee Min-hyung fell silent at this sight.

Jo Ui-seok was not only competent but also one of the few remaining advocates for magical girls in the current political sphere. Moreover, from Lee Min-hyung’s own perspective, he was virtually the only politician who acted based on common sense and fairness.

But as if it were natural, the political world rejected common sense and fairness. If necessary, that was their ‘common sense’ notorious for ignoring both law and morality with brazen faces.

“Lee Jong-pil’s faction has even joined hands with our party’s senior members to try to bring me down somehow. From the start, neither that side nor this side has the country or its people in their minds. They only think about their own rice bowls. To the extent that they made a first-term congressman from our party give false testimony.”

“There isn’t… much we can do. All I can say is please stay strong.”

Lee Min-hyung bit his lip at his words, which were filled with exhaustion and emptiness. If they lose an ally who can speak up and the balance in the political world collapses, Frontier’s power will be greatly weakened.

“If it’s really a problem, I could assign Aria to your side. Though I’m not sure if she’ll accept.”

“No. That would get us attacked from the opposite direction. I’ll just… just try to hold on.”

He rejected Lee Min-hyung’s tentative suggestion with a bitter smile.

“I’m feeling rather tired too. Sometimes, I envy Takilas. If I had such strong power, wouldn’t I be able to easily realize my beliefs too?”

He put on his coat and left his seat. Lee Min-hyung watched him with concern.

He looked precarious, as if he might collapse at any moment from being attacked from all sides with false accusations. But what Lee Min-hyung worried about even more was the possibility that he might not just collapse, but transform entirely.

If he were to obtain power that could ignore reality. That would surely become a fatal poison.

“Hah… let’s head back then. Driver Park?”

“Representative. Could we… have a brief chat?”

Jo Ui-seok slumped in his seat after getting in the car. However, the one who turned his head from the driver’s seat wasn’t his driver.

    “Y-you… Joo-hyun?!”

“You certainly won’t regret this. I’m not trying to harm you.”

Though he grabbed the door handle instinctively in shock, the already locked door wouldn’t open easily. Watching this scene with a smirk, this unfamiliar man was none other than Kim Joo-hyun, the spokesperson from the same party with whom he had connections.

Kim Ju-hyeon shook his head, reassuring the greatly surprised man.

“On the contrary, I’m trying to help you.”

    “Help, you say? Me? You?”

“I know you don’t think well of me. But that’s just my outer shell. My intentions follow only one thing.”

Jo Ui-seok could hardly believe his ears. He couldn’t understand why someone who had been acting as a loyal dog to the senior party members who opposed him was saying such things.

It was just this afternoon that Kim Ju-hyeon had mentioned Rene’s name and posted criticisms and slander about him on social media.

“I know you’re having a hard time. But I promise you. If you come to believe in the true god, we will soon become a team and be able to achieve what you want.”

    “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”

“The old politicians who cause internal division instead of being of help to you, and the fools who cling to those old men seeking power. I have information that can blow them all away at once.”

Kim Ju-hyeon twisted the corner of his mouth and continued to drop shocking statements.

“Witness the true sun, believe in the true god! Then you will be given power! Powerful strength to distort reality and eradicate your enemies!”

Kim Ju-hyeon, his eyes wide open revealing his madness, crushed the headrest he was holding with just his grip strength.

Jo Ui-seok, his face pale, couldn’t answer.

It wasn’t just fear, but because Kim Ju-hyeon’s words were throwing a sweet and thrilling temptation to his tired and fatigued mind that had recently been pushed to the limit.

“The… the black sun. Don’t tell me you!”

“Don’t misunderstand about Lord Smalilian. He just gives us what we want. Power, opportunity, miracles. Everything.”

Kim Ju-hyeon grinned, madness glinting in his eyes.

    ‘I can’t escape.’

In a split second, Jo Ui-seok fell into deep contemplation. There was no way out for now. Accepting Kim Ju-hyeon’s offer would mean corruption, and refusing would mean death.

His eyes wavered as he swallowed dryly.

Power, the power to break through this suffocating reality. Certainly, it was something his current self desperately craved.

“Don’t be ridiculous. The Black Sun, Smalilian is a monster! A real monster that turns people into monsters!”

But Jo Ui-seok soon gritted his teeth and shouted.

“Reality is reality because it can’t be easily changed. That’s why we struggle and endure. A reality twisted by wrong methods is not reality, but a sandcastle and illusion that could collapse at any moment!”

    “How insolent! You dare…!”

He shouted as if urging himself on. Of course, this greatly offended the enemy, and Kim Ju-hyeon, his eyes turning red, suddenly inflated his muscles like a bodybuilder, tearing his clothes and growling.

    ‘This is the end.’

He tightly closed his eyes as he saw that strong hand reaching out to him.

    “Parma style, Pacheon.”

It was then that a light like a flash illuminated the dark street for a moment.

    “Arghhhh!”

This blue flash of Parma burned away the sticky demon. Jo Ui-seok was shocked to see Kim Ju-hyeon, unlike himself who was unharmed, screaming at the top of his lungs, breaking through the windshield and trembling.
