Chapter 0: I Will Not Enroll in the Academy

This world is not centered around academies.

Nor was I destined to become an academy cadet.

“Abraxas… do you realize the danger in that?”

I’m not originally from this world.

This world is that of World Fantasy Saga (WFS), a game I used to play in South Korea.

In the world of WFS, I reincarnated as the second son of the Duke of Mentuhotep.

“So, as soon as you’re an adult, you plan to venture into the treacherous magic realm? With a body that hasn’t been trained at all?”

    I had no choice.

Soon, this world will face destruction.

Even if it’s not complete annihilation, a disaster will erase 70% of the population.

“You might still think you’re the best, but the world is vast. There are many who are better than you.”

My father is unaware that I’m a reincarnated soul.

He doesn’t realize how safe the magic realm is for me, or how strong I can become with the opportunities there.

He worries because he doesn’t know that my lack of training is also part of my plan.

“Enroll in Jeolip Academy. If you graduate, I won’t oppose your journey to the magic realm. To face such dangers alone, you must be adequately skilled.”

But the academy never appeared in WFS.

An academy that may or may not have existed.

I am forced to go there.

“This is an order from the head of the family.”

I tried to argue, but my father’s stance was firmer than I anticipated.

And so, my enrollment in the academy was finalized.

“Applicant number 113, Abraxas Mentuhotep, please come in.”

I heard my name called while waiting outside the interview room, surrounded by several other candidates.

“Applicant Abraxas, what motivated you to apply to our Jeolip Academy?”

Upon entering the interview room, I found a scribe recording the session, a professor posing questions, and an unidentified elderly man, all seated in a row.

Most applicants would have thought hard about this decisive moment for their final acceptance to the academy.

However, my thoughts were entirely different.

This world is not focused on academies.

    Enemies, opportunities, and power.

They all lie outside the academy.

    Nothing major will happen immediately.

Even if I attend the academy, no problems will arise.

But, spending four years at the academy could prevent me from stopping the impending disaster.

That’s why I wanted to fail the entrance exam.

But anticipating this, my father tied me to a contract.

I must perform well academically at the academy.

Tied to this contract, being expelled for poor grades was not an option.

Being unable to fail due to incompetence made the situation even more problematic.

“Are you familiar with the philosophical term ‘Occam’s Razor*’?”

However, only by leaving the academy can I change the fate of this world.

To save the world, I must escape from the academy.

That’s why my response is set.

    “Occam’s Razor?”

My question caused the professor’s eyebrows to twitch.

The scribe beside him busily recorded our conversation.

The unidentified old man beside the professor kept watching me.

Ignoring this, I continued my explanation.

“The term ‘Occam’s Razor’ in philosophy means that the simplest proposition is the best when it can convey the same meaning.”

“The simpler the better if it contains the same meaning. That’s a good point. So, can you concisely express your aspirations, following Occam’s Razor?”

    “Absolutely.”

He allowed me to speak concisely about my reasons for applying to the academy.

And I duly repaid him for this opportunity.

“What I would like to say to the interviewers of the academy is……”

    “F*ck this sh*t.”

After summarizing my stance in the simplest sentence following Occam’s Razor, I quickly left the room as if escaping.

I swore at the professor in an attempt to fail enrollment.

In my opinion, it was a perfect strategy.

“Let that little bastard pass. I’ll deal with him personally.”

    “Understood, Chancellor.”

The next day, I received a notice of admission to the academy.
