Chap 69-Nabi
by Afuhfuihgs
In the deep dawn when everyone was fast asleep.
Faint light still leaked from the academy headmaster’s office.
As only moonlight quietly illuminated the room, a sound broke the silence.
Meow- Meow-
A somewhat neurotic yet dignified cat’s cry came from outside the window.
Elaha, who was sitting on the throne reviewing documents, sighed deeply and approached the window, opening the tightly closed pane.
Cool dawn air and beautiful moonlight poured into the room.
Elaha leaned against the window frame for a moment, gazing as if admiring the moonlight.
“So, what brings our ‘Nabi’ all the way here at this late hour?”
Elaha spoke to the snow-white cat, which was now sitting gracefully on the window frame, with a slightly mocking tone.
“Don’t call me by that name. Unless you want to die.”
Surprisingly, what flowed from the cat’s mouth was the voice of a young but cold girl.
The tone was filled with deep annoyance and blatant hostility.
“Oh my, for you to call the precious name given by your master such a thing. What a rude kitty, really.”
Elaha retorted with a still sly smile.
“Ha, so you’ve been watching us all along, sneakily.”
The cat, or rather, the being in the form of a cat, growled.
“Of course. How could I take my eyes off you when I don’t know what that monster might do in my territory?”
Elaha’s eyes flashed coldly for a moment.
The cat lowered its body, wary of Elaha.
“Don’t even dream of touching that child.”
The energy emanating from that small body was by no means that of an ordinary cat.
“Calm down. I have no intention of touching her.”
Elaha shrugged.
“Of course, I would like to see her torn to pieces by the mortals she loves so much and despair… but I won’t touch her directly.”
At Elaha’s words, the cat growled lowly, as if displeased.
“So, what brings the Queen of the Witches here in such a bizarre form at this late hour?”
Queen of the Witches.
The Witch of Destruction, Anaide.
The identity hidden beneath the appearance of the small, snow-white cat was the eldest daughter of the great Witch Oz and the head of the Witch clan.
At Elaha’s words, the cat’s blue eyes flashed sharply.
“You… what exactly are you plotting?”
Anaide asked with a growl.
Her voice was filled with deep distrust and wariness of Elaha.
Elaha shrugged and replied.
“What am I plotting? As you can see, I’m protecting the mortals in place of you lazy and incompetent ones. Someone has to fill the position Dorothy left vacant, don’t they?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
Anaide shouted, flaring up.
“You have no interest in such things!”
She glanced down at the academy shrouded in darkness for a moment, then turned her sharp gaze back to Elaha.
“This place is what my sister has built with her blood and sweat over many years. Don’t you dare try to defile it, and get out of that position right now!”
“Pfft… you really don’t know anything.”
Elaha said, openly mocking Anaide.
“Well, I should have known from the moment you hid behind that precious God of Fighting and holed yourselves up in a corner of the spirit world.”
At Elaha’s provocation, Anaide’s fur stood on end, and a low growl escaped her lips.
“Hmm… but I’ve been wondering since a while ago,”
Elaha asked, propping her chin and looking amused.
“Have you been in that cat form for so long that even your brain has turned into a cat’s? Why do you keep growling like an animal?”
“Ugh…! Stop talking nonsense and answer me properly! What is your real purpose? And who released your seal!”
Anaide couldn’t hold back and shouted.
Elaha chuckled.
“If you want to know that badly, why don’t you try asking with force? Of course, that’s impossible in your current state, trapped in that pathetic cat body.”
“If you do anything reckless here, remember that you will be turning our entire clan against you!”
Anaide issued a final warning.
“Oh my, how admirable. Are you worried about me now?”
Elaha suddenly leaned down and gently stroked Anaide’s small cat head.
“Nyaaaang-!!!”
Anaide slashed Elaha’s hand with her sharp claws, leaving clear red streaks on her white skin.
Elaha glanced at her injured hand, then spoke to Anaide again as if nothing had happened.
“Anyway, make sure to tell that God of Fighting properly. I don’t want to be hostile with you, so don’t be too wary. I’m just… satisfied as long as I achieve my purpose.”
“So what is that purpose?”
Anaide shouted once again, but Elaha did not answer.
Instead, dazzling holy power erupted from her body.
The powerful light and pressure instantly engulfed Anaide’s small body.
Bang!
Anaide was pushed out of the window by the holy power without even having a chance to resist, and at the same time, the headmaster’s office window slammed shut with a loud noise.
“Nyaaaaaaaaa-!!!”
The cat, thrown out of the window, scratched at the window with its front paws for a while, howling in anger, but the barrier Elaha had deployed did not budge.
Anaide glared at the window, flicked her sharply twitching tail a few times, and eventually turned around and disappeared into the shadows without a word.

…
…
Lick- Lick-
“Ugh… that tickles…”
I woke up to a wet and rough sensation.
The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Nabi, the snow-white cat, diligently licking my face.
The creature purred contentedly after confirming that I was awake.
“Na…bi…? Ugh, what time is it?”
I raised my stiff body and looked at the clock. The hands were pointing exactly at 5:30.
I gently stroked Nabi’s head.
“Good girl. I had to get up now to clean anyway, how did you know to wake me up just in time?”
She was an incredibly smart creature.
At my praise, Nabi proudly raised her head.
I wanted to lie in bed and laze around a little longer, but if I lingered like this, I would obviously be late.
I forced myself out of bed, washed my face roughly with cold water, and put on my uniform.
As soon as I finished getting ready and left the dormitory room, Nabi followed me closely as if it were natural.
“Hey, you can’t.”
I sighed and coaxed her.
“Stay in the dormitory quietly. If you wait quietly, I’ll be back when I’m done.”
Pets are not allowed in the academy as a rule.
But…
At my words, Nabi gave me the most pitiful look in the world.
Her large sapphire-like eyes looked as if they were about to fill with tears.
“Ugh… if you look at me with that face…!”
I eventually succumbed to her pitiful attack.
“Haa… okay, okay. But! Since there will be almost no one around at this time while I’m cleaning, it’s only until then! Go back to the dormitory as soon as class starts!”
When I spoke with a stern face, Nabi nodded vigorously as if she understood my words.
‘…Does she really understand? She’s an incredibly smart cat.’
I was still half-doubtful, but I took her to the main building for now.
As soon as I arrived at the main building, I started cleaning with familiar movements.
Having done it for a few days, I was now quite skilled and my movements were faster.
Sweeping, mopping, and even cleaning the toilet.
In an instant, one of the bathrooms sparkled.
Looking at it, I even felt a sense of accomplishment.
At that moment, I sensed someone near the entrance of the bathroom.
“Nabi, hide quickly!”
I whispered quietly, and Nabi quickly slipped into an empty toilet stall and hid, as if she understood my words.
Creak-
The bathroom door opened, and two female students entered.
“Is it true? Is she really cleaning?”
“Yeah, really! Lily saw it clearly last time! It was so funny to see that wicked woman trembling and wiping the toilet!”
“Wow, really? I can’t imagine it.”
The two female students were talking among themselves as they entered, and then their eyes met mine head-on as I happened to look up.
“Oh my! Look! It’s true!”
One of the female students shouted, pointing at me.
Sigh, here we go again.
I flinched and stiffened.
As expected, one of the female students approached me with a sneer.
“Oh my, Lady, you have to clean properly, don’t you? There’s still something left on one side of the floor?”
When I turned my head to look at the place she was pointing at-
Slap-!
Along with a sharp cracking sound, I felt a burning sensation on my cheek.
The impact was so strong that my head turned.
A bitter taste of blood lingered in my mouth.
‘…Ah?’
“Look! She can’t even resist even if we do this now!”
The female student who slapped my cheek shouted triumphantly and sneered at me.
“She finally knows her place, I guess.”
Another female student sneered and approached me.
‘Haa… let’s just finish this quickly and move on.’
I closed my eyes in resignation.
I didn’t feel like resisting, and even if I did, the situation would only become more complicated.
Thud-!
A dull sound was heard.
But I didn’t feel the additional sensation I had expected.
I waited with my eyes closed, but when I didn’t feel anything, I slowly opened my eyes.
And before my eyes, an unbelievable sight unfolded.
Two female students passed out on the floor.
And on top of them…
The snow-white cat, Nabi, was standing triumphantly and licking her front paws.
“…Ah.”
I stared blankly at the scene.
‘…How am I going to deal with this?’
