Ch.BONUSWork Afterword
by fnovelpia
Hello, this is Nobakku Doljin, the author of the serialized Super Coward Mode Dark Fantasy.
Yes, that’s right.
A story that was both long and short has finally reached its conclusion.
There’s so much I could say about this novel, but if I wrote it all down, I worry the afterword alone would be 10,000 characters without spaces, so I’ll try to summarize as much as possible.
As everyone knows, this work was created with the worldbuilding collaboration of writer Yogeuk Sotos, who co-wrote up to chapter 44.
It all began with my friend’s suggestion: “What if we write about a mentally ill protagonist in a Soulslike who wears a party hat, plays a party whistle, and sees horrifying monsters as beautiful girls?” That idea has carried us all the way to now.
Add to that a stubborn yet resilient protagonist typical of the Soulslike genre, and a talkative thief who serves as the perfect supporting character.
The trio’s dynamic, which somehow fits together despite seeming mismatched, was truly a charming combination when I think about it again.
When Yogeuk Sotos had to step away due to personal circumstances and academic commitments, continuing the serialization alone felt somewhat burdensome, but since we had already outlined the general story arc to completion, continuing the writing wasn’t too difficult.
Above all, I believe I was able to reach the conclusion thanks to the readers who followed along until the end.
Thank you.
This work has been incredibly meaningful to me.
If my previous work “I Pretended to Die After Saving the Chapter Bosses” was what first encouraged me to try serializing online instead of just scribbling in Hangul Word, then this work helped me recognize my weaknesses and reflect on myself.
I can’t list everything, but I’ve come to realize there are many aspects of my writing technique that need improvement.
That’s why I became so attached to this work and never wanted to put it down for a moment.
Even when my body was breaking down, my mental state deteriorating, and time was running short, I would crawl to my desk and write.
Clicking on notifications with red dots and chuckling to myself was truly a happy time.
Of course, there were many chapters where even I wondered if what I wrote was proper Korean, and episodes I wish I had developed in more detail.
This is purely due to my inexperience as a writer.
But I believe this is the best result I could produce with my current abilities.
For those who enjoyed reading, I’m glad if my work provided a small daily pleasure in your lives.
This work will remain a wonderful memory for me.
Of course it will.
Receiving fan art of my novel for the first time, commissioning work for the first time… even creating emoticons.
The past nearly six months have been a series of miracles.
Even though it was busy, difficult, and challenging, every day was truly happy.
Let me stop here and answer some of the Q&As that have been posted.
1. Please explain the character relationships!
The Watcher, The Gardener, The Cook, The Dragonslayer, The Chronicler, Neutrice, The Observer, Muyeon, The Princess, Asti, The Huntsman, and finally the Second Princess.
All of these characters have favorable relationships with Raedan.
Ria should be thought of as a daughter-like figure.
The Vice Commander and Knight Commander are in a loving relationship.
The character Raedan Tanthyn was a knight belonging to Lintpia before the empire’s collapse.
Mushin was the Vice Commander of that Lintpia.
The four supreme Outer Gods of the Ideatic Realm have a friendly relationship, though Gaia tends to stand out.
Mushin and Muyeon are father and daughter.
The Advisor – Asti – Ria
They are connected in this way.
The Advisor sees Asti and Ria strictly as means to achieve his goals.
Neither Ria nor Asti particularly liked The Advisor.
Demeter and the Emperor are married.
Their children are The Princess and the Second Princess.
Demeter and the Emperor loved their children very much, but the atmosphere became strange due to Gaia’s interference.
That’s what I have in my notes for now.
If you’re curious about any relationships I might have missed, please feel free to leave a comment anytime.
2. When will the author write 19+ content?
I’m very sorry… but I don’t plan to include 19+ content in this work.
During the writing process, the author did get excited(?) and write some risqué scenes… but please consider those as just momentary impulses.
I apologize once again.
3. Was the current development planned before or at the beginning of serialization? Or was it improvised?
The work itself was completely planned from the beginning.
And… in terms of plot development, I wrote everything without missing anything.
What changed was mostly the atmosphere.
Since the author’s state of mind wasn’t very relaxed, even when I tried to write cheerfully, the work kept turning serious.
This is also due to my lack of skill as a writer.
Anyway, to answer your question directly, it was planned from the beginning.
4. What level of Outer God can The Huntsman face?
He can handle up to the Terrestrial Realm Outer Gods, excluding The Gardener and Fiore.
In game terms, by the later stages, his specs would be sufficient to fight Ideatic Realm Outer Gods without being overwhelmed, but in the worldview I was writing, Tanthyn ended up taking over what The Huntsman should have done, so he didn’t grow to that extent.
And now for the most important information about the side stories.
I don’t think I’ll be writing many chapters.
At most 10, probably around 3-5.
Some of you might find this disappointing.
From the author’s perspective, this means I’ve already shown all the episodes I could up to the conclusion.
The side stories will begin in about 10 days.
I need to take that time to recover my health.
Anyway… that’s what I wanted to say.
To the wonderful readers who followed until the end.
To Yogeuk Sotos who created the worldbuilding with me.
And to the manager who helped with the writing.
I express my gratitude to everyone.
I’ll truly end my words here now.
May the path ahead be beautifully illuminated for you all.
Sincerely, Nobakku Doljin.
