Ch.BONUSSponsorship Appreciation Notice (August 31, 2023)

I exceeded the 30,000 character limit, so I had to create a new thank you notice for supporters. It includes various random thoughts along with beautiful sentences from other writers that make my own ramblings seem small in comparison… looking at it now, I realize I talk too much. But shortening text is truly difficult work. Almost as hard as “rewrite this report more concisely.”

Thank you to Anonymous Supporter (May 3, 2023) for your support. I’m grateful you enjoyed my work! While preparing my new project, I’ve been reading other authors’ works. Some make me pause briefly, others I continue reading with interest thinking “this is fun,” and with some, I read straight through without even being conscious of the process until I hit “This is the final chapter.” When reading other writers’ works, I can’t help but reflect on my own writing—what was good, what wasn’t so great, how I struggled to salvage uninteresting parts, and which sections could have been more entertaining. Of course, once you start fixing these things, you end up rewriting the entire piece two or three times (as I’m experiencing with another novel I’m remaking).

But however you read it… if after finishing the final chapter you think, “That was enjoyable. That was fun. I want to read similar novels,” or “I want to read more from this author,” then I believe the writing was successful. So my novel was a success, since you enjoyed it. Thank you.

    “Was his wife a communist?”

“I think Mrs. Fennan would have disliked that kind of classification.”

    “What about Dieter?” Guillam asked.

“God knows what Dieter wanted. Honor and a socialist world, I suppose.”

    Smiley shrugged.

“Socialists dream of peace and freedom. Now socialists have become murderers and spies.”

    “Good Lord,” said Mendel.

Smiley fell silent again, staring at his glass. Finally, he said:

“I don’t expect you to understand. You only saw Dieter’s end. I saw the beginning. Dieter came full circle. I don’t think Dieter was acting as a traitor during the war. Dieter had to set the world right. He was one of those creators who seem to do nothing but destroy. That’s all.”

    – Call for the Dead, John le Carré

Thank you to Anonymous Supporter (July 21, 2023). I truly appreciate you returning. Though there’s quite a temperature difference between “Hero’s Downfall Report” and my current work, I’m enjoying writing both equally. While preparing the new project, I studied various things and tried many different approaches. A passage I read in a book really resonated with me: “Don’t try to follow what’s popular; instead, think about what it would look like if you enjoyed popular things in your own way.” My new work draws heavily on this concept, making it somewhat uncommon. I’ve prepared a decent amount of content, so please drop by if you have time. Thank you.

Unlike companies, writers have no limits. You see clearly into the depths of your characters’ hearts. Exploring those depths is your mission.

    – Plot Enhancement, Noah Lukeman

Thank you to Artist_496 for your support. Being your first donation makes it special! Thank you!!! First times are always special, both for the giver and receiver. Donations, regardless of amount, carry great significance because they represent a movement of the “heart.” Thank you for showing me your heart.

When writing, I sometimes sink into a peculiar mood. Though I’m not speaking aloud, I’m essentially talking all day. For three hours on the short end, or five to six hours on the longer end… and because it’s writing rather than speaking, there’s no immediate response. I’m essentially expressing myself to a monitor for five or six hours. So there are days when I feel drained without having done anything particularly taxing. Not depressed, just temporarily closing my mouth and thoughts after talking too much.

Still, tonight the moon is blue and bright. They say it’s the largest moon in 14 years. I hope happy days continue for you and that good things fill your life.

A few years ago, an unfamiliar desire stirred within me—I wanted the feeling of recognition through awards or numerous followers. I wanted this because my colleagues craved such recognition. I began competing to be on “most desirable workplace” lists and to receive impressive praise.

The word “prestige” comes from the Latin “praestigium,” meaning “illusion” or “magician’s trick.” People seek respect for their talents or professional reputation without realizing that pursuing prestige is like chasing a mirage.
