Ch.BONUSAfterword and Miscellaneous Thoughts
by fnovelpia
After a long journey of 262 chapters, the main story of “I Became Professor Moriarty’s Plausibility” has finally come to an end.
This is already the third time I’ve completed a work, but I still can’t get used to the feeling of finishing something.
Anyway, since this is a post-completion review, I’d like to share some information you might have been curious about and some thoughts I want to express, in no particular order.
First, let me talk about why I started writing this kind of story.
Ever since I first encountered it in an elementary school library, the “Sherlock Holmes series” has always been one of my favorite novel series.
Back then, I never imagined I would win an award in a contest with a Sherlock Holmes fan fiction.
Anyway, writing a mystery novel was always one of my goals, so I started conceptualizing the prototype for this novel when my previous work, “The Main Heroines Are Trying to Kill Me,” was about halfway through serialization.
The initial concept was actually quite different from what it is now.
Originally, the protagonist was a cyber investigation team operating in modern times, and the overall flow of the novel was a detective academy story centered around “Auguste Academy.”
The first meeting with Professor Moriarty and the appearance of Sharlotte Holmes were already decided, but almost everything else was different.
It wasn’t completely paying homage to the Sherlock Holmes series like it is now, but was conceived as a genuine mystery and investigation story with detectives who joined a detective club, with over 90 percent original cases and tricks.
Sharlotte Holmes was more of a deus ex machina with a mature image who appeared in crisis situations in the early to middle parts, rather than a heroine, and although the professor was a heroine, she had a stronger final boss image than in the current work.
So I originally planned to come up with cases and tricks that fit the story while in the military, but…
Just as I was about to make that decision, the “Universe’s Strongest Contest” was announced.
Sometimes in life, you get a sudden intuition.
A feeling that now is the right timing—a feeling with no basis but impossible to ignore.
As the contest date approached, I felt this intuition growing stronger, and after a few days of contemplation, I completely changed course and submitted “I Became Professor Moriarty’s Plausibility” to the contest.
(If I hadn’t changed course, it probably would have been serialized as “I Became the Detective Academy’s Plausibility” two years later.)
Well, considering I won the 20 million won prize and the cumulative views exceeded 2 million, I think my intuition was right.
Although I regret not being able to serialize a full-fledged mystery, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.
Still, writing “I Became Professor Moriarty’s Plausibility” was a very meaningful and new experience for me.
Unlike the serious works I had been writing that centered on regret and devastation, I wrote this one with much less pressure, making it light and humorous.
Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy serializing it until completion without stress.
Now that I’ve chatted enough, it seems like it’s time to mention the side stories.
The side stories for this work will be structured as follows:
1. Child-raising daily life stories
2. Additional 19+ chapters for Moran, the Duke of Bohemia, etc.
3. Episodes from the perspective of future Sherlock Holmes
4. (If possible) Additional serialization of cases I wanted to cover but couldn’t due to length constraints
e.g., The Copper Beeches, The Yellow Face, The Dancing Men
I’m thinking of about 6-10 chapters, and they will likely be serialized around October due to my personal circumstances of having to join the military in December.
Ah, and I should also take this opportunity to announce my next works.
The works I’m currently conceptualizing are as follows:
1. I Became a War Hero Demoted to Second-Class Citizen
2. I Became the Academy’s Hypocrite
3. The Protagonist is Too Kind
4. I’m the Only One Who Regresses in a Death Game
5. A Project Moon parody novel I might write in the military
By the way, my first work, “I Became Danganronpa’s 17th Super High School Level,” is currently being reorganized. (It’s been 2 years, and I’ve forgotten quite a lot of the tricks I had planned…)
It’s not certain, but if I have free time in the military, I might write the novel from item 5 along with it whenever I have time.
Well, I think I should wrap up my story here.
I’m planning to travel abroad for a few months with the money I earned from my novels before joining the military, so time is tighter than I expected…!
I think I’ll be back with one of those works in about 2 years.
Of course, if a better idea comes to mind, I might come back with a completely new topic.
Anyway, thank you for always enjoying my novels…!
Oh, and finally, I’m going to start a Q&A about the work from today!
I’ll post a separate announcement, so please leave your questions in the comments of that announcement.
Have a good day, everyone~
