    Ch.9695. Proof (5)

    # 95. Proof (5)

Fenex set out on his way to fulfill his self-proclaimed role as a human hunter today as well, unaware of his fate.

“I wonder what kind of humans will come today? I hope there are many, just like yesterday…”

With such excitement, Fenex headed to his hunting ground, planning to hunt the incomparably inferior humans just like any other day.

With these happy thoughts, he headed toward the forest around 3 PM, when humans typically appeared in the greatest numbers.

    However…

“Usually there are many around this time…”

For some unknown reason, the forest was unusually empty today—not only were there no humans, but not even their shadows could be seen.

Even animals and monsters had disappeared, leaving Fenex completely alone in the forest.

    “What’s going on…?”

Perplexed by the situation, Fenex wandered through the forest searching for humans.

But even after searching for a long time, there was no sign of any humans, which left Fenex disappointed.

“Nothing I can do… I guess days like this happen too…”

Just as Fenex was about to resign himself and return to the orphanage, he detected a powerful aura emanating from far away.

“…What is that…? A human…? No, there’s no way a human could emit such an aura.”

It was an aura that didn’t pale in comparison to even his father, who had once risen to the position of Executor.

No, it was actually far more powerful than that man.

    “Is… is this even possible?”

Frightened by the overwhelming aura, Fenex fled.

He ran and ran to avoid being caught by the approaching aura.

Fenex ran until his well-trained legs began to ache and he was out of breath, barely managing to enter inside the border wall.

    “Hah… hah…”

He finally caught his breath after releasing the air he had been holding in, or at least that’s what he thought.

However, Fenex, immersed in that sense of relief, soon realized a chilling fact.

    “Why… isn’t it stopping?”

The aura didn’t stop even after Fenex had entered the wall, and even now it was closing the distance between them.

Realizing this, Fenex felt goosebumps all over his body and immediately got up and started running.

‘Quickly…! I need to escape quickly!’

Fenex ran forward without looking back and successfully reached the entrance of the orphanage.

But even then he couldn’t feel at ease, and for the first time, he turned around to look at the wall he had just passed.

    “Fenex… what’s wrong?”

    “Ah… Sister… It’s nothing…”

Just as he took his eyes off the wall, there was a deafening boom accompanied by a light so bright he could barely open his eyes, causing even the distant orphanage to shake.

    -KABOOM!!!-

The direction of the sound was where the wall had been—precisely where that aura had been—and Fenex looked at the wall, which he could only see after the light had faded.

    “The… the wall…”

The wall had completely collapsed from the attack, and armed humans were invading Babylon territory.

Through the gaps in the collapsed wall.

    ‘Humans….’

Noticing that the enormous aura was rapidly approaching, Fenex hesitated.

    ‘Can I escape…? At that speed…?’

Of course, despite such doubts, running away was the right choice and the only option.

Although the orphanage had been his sanctuary and home, embracing him…

Now there was no choice; it was already difficult enough to save himself, and time was too short.

‘With something like this happening… they’ll evacuate on their own…’

Fenex rationalized this and was about to leave the orphanage immediately.

    However…

    ‘What about Sister?’

Just before leaving the orphanage, her face came to mind.

The one who had always accepted and embraced him with a bright smile, no matter what.

Fenex couldn’t abandon her even if he had to leave everything else behind, so he grabbed her arm and said:

    “Sister! We need to run!”

“R-run? What do you mean…? What was that light earlier…?”

“There’s no time to explain! Hurry!”

    “What about the others?”

Even in this crisis, she showed a sense of justice that prioritized others.

He admired her sense of justice, but right now it was a useless emotion.

“We’ll die too if we stay!”

Finally deciding to evacuate while carrying her, Fenex suddenly lifted her up, and she blushed and became flustered by his unexpected action.

    “Huh…? Fe-Fenex…?”

    “Please stay still, it’s urgent.”

Fenex escaped the orphanage while carrying her and immediately started running in the opposite direction from where the humans were.

She looked at Fenex’s face as he carried her and asked:

“If we run away like this… what will happen to the people at the orphanage?”

“They’ll manage on their own, they always have.”

Fenex’s words were cold and harsh, but given the situation, she understood him.

    “But why are humans here…?”

“It’s what people commonly call ‘war.'”

“…Why do humans and demons keep hurting each other like this…”

    “…”

Normally, Fenex would have definitely answered, “Because humans are inferior.”

But now he couldn’t say that—partly because she was present, but mostly because he had just witnessed the humans’ military might.

For the first time, he realized that humans might not be inferior after all, and he turned around to see the scene created by these not-so-inferior humans.

    And then.

    ‘Huh…?’

One human was standing much closer than expected, in a combat stance, staring at Fenex and her.

With striking golden hair like sunlight, the human spoke to Fenex with an almost maniacal expression.

“Hello? Nice to meet you. Are you the ‘Human Hunter’?”

    “…”

The human had a clownish, ridiculous appearance yet emitted an incredible aura.

That aura proved that this person was someone even Fenex, also known as the “Human Hunter,” couldn’t handle.

“Of course, I’m not the owner of that aura from earlier. My uncle is quite scary, isn’t he?”

But for Fenex right now, the scariest being wasn’t the owner of that earlier aura, but the one standing before him.

“There’s no need to be so afraid~ I just came to play~”

    “P-play?”

    “Yes, it’ll be very fun.”

The human pointed his sword at Fenex while saying this.

Then, looking at the woman in Fenex’s arms with an interested gaze, he said:

“Just asking out of curiosity… that woman… is she your girlfriend?”

    “N-no, she’s not…”

“Then I can have her, right?”

Those thunderbolt-like words gave Fenex a tremendous shock.

    “What…? What do you mean…?”

“She’s not your woman, right? Then it shouldn’t matter if I take her, right?”

    “She’s not my woman, but… still…”

Normally, he would have killed this human for saying such things, but now it was impossible.

“Then I’ll take her. Today’s a good harvest, isn’t it? Getting such a high-quality slave.”

    “S-slave!?”

“You’d better just watch from there.”

With those final words, he charged at Fenex and instantly arrived right in front of him.

“Looking closer, she looks even more delicious. How did you resist a woman like this?”

He struck Fenex, who was in the way, naturally and lightly.

    -THUD!!-

It was just a human’s fist, even if enhanced.

But that human’s fist inflicted an enormous wound on Fenex.

    “Ugh…!”

Fenex, who had been hit squarely in the stomach, immediately collapsed, bewildered by the absurd situation.

“I… I’m being taken down by a human’s fist…? With just one hit?”

“Why are you so surprised? You already sensed it, didn’t you? That someone like you could never defeat me.”

    “…”

Collapsed on the ground from the shock, Fenex could only watch as the man approached her.

“So you’ve never done it with her, right?”

    “D-done what?”

Fenex already understood what he meant, but still asked again.

Fenex hoped it wasn’t what he was thinking, but his hope was in vain.

“Sex, of course. Don’t worry, I won’t do it here. I’m not that indecent~”

As he said this, he put handcuffs and what looked like a dog collar on her right in front of Fenex.

“It suits her quite well, doesn’t it?”

    “…”

She couldn’t speak or move due to his overwhelming aura.

“Too happy to speak? I’m a hundred times better than that dullard over there. Don’t you agree?”

With those final words, he showed Fenex the leash connected to the collar she was wearing.

“How about it? Jealous? You want this too, right?”

Fenex, unable to bear the unbelievable sight, was too shocked to say anything.

“She’ll be happier living as my sex slave than living in this gutter.”

She was weakly shaking her head beside him, but the gesture was meaningless.

“Take care! See you next time, if possible, with her too~”
