Ch.95We Need More Friends (1)
by fnovelpia
The problem was evident from those insane prices.
To purchase a 10-pull gacha, you needed a whopping 450,000 event reward points.
‘Is this inflation gone wild?’
Of course, considering I was raking in nearly 100,000 points daily, it might not be that problematic.
The real question was whether it was worth giving up on guaranteed “usable” S-rank or higher starships to spend a massive 450,000 points on these, and whether the value and probability were guaranteed.
I tried clicking on the product to check the probability, but…

<The probability for this product is not disclosed.>

‘Are these bastards serious?’
As if regulations on probability-based items were completely useless in this world.
I was dumbfounded by their brazen display of determination not to disclose any probabilities…
‘Waaah, help me, Gallery-mon.’
Since that’s what the gallery was for, I immediately decided to search about this event gacha in the gallery I had open.
But when I clicked on the search results…

Yes, I removed the probabilities!
Does that make you angry!? Too bad!
No one can judge me, the admin!
That’s the limit of this world’s legal system!
Comments:
-[This is infuriating]
-[Can’t deny this is BS]
-[FFS who came up with the idea of not disclosing probabilities]
-[Nice trolling]
-[You bastard, so where’s the probability info?]
-[Downvoted, why isn’t it available, damn]

‘What an absolute troll.’
My mental stability was shaken from encountering this troll post right from the start.
Somehow maintaining my sanity, I prevented myself from shotgunning the command console I was using as a keyboard.
I escaped from that cursed troll post and continued exploring the gallery, searching for more legitimate tip posts.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long before I found a proper tip post.

Title: Attention to those considering buying gacha tickets from this event shop

Since it costs 450,000 points to do a 10-pull right now
You might honestly wonder if it’s worth acquiring
But I honestly think doing a 10-pull is totally worth it.
Let’s be frank, if you’re determined to collect 400-500k points, it’s totally possible in a week at fastest, or 10-12 days at most, right?
But the important thing isn’t that, it’s the hidden function of those gacha tickets
Someone who spent hundreds of pulls with real money before being possessed here shared some info
According to that, the gacha tickets from this event shop have some kind of bonus modifier
So unlike the gacha currency we’ve been using since being dragged here, the probability is actually better than expected
So buying a 10-pull and sweetly recruiting one more superhuman isn’t a bad idea
Comments:
-[Hmm, upvoted for the tip]
-[But roughly how good is that probability?]
-˪[From what I remember, it was about 5% higher](Author)
-˪[Oh that’s awesome]
-˪[Better than I expected?]
-[Does that 5% increase mean it’s better than the basic gacha?]
-˪[Isn’t that obvious?]
-˪[Oh good]

‘Hmmmm…interesting…’
Through this somewhat informative tip post, I realized that the event gacha was better than I thought.
However, as mentioned in that tip post, even with our awesome pirates’ automated quest system(?), quest completion still took considerable time.
And separately, at this point, I suddenly realized something new:
‘Wait a minute, there must be dozens of pirate captains that Marian called, so why is our reward point acquisition rate similar to top-ranking users?’
Though not directly under my command, I was essentially running superhuman forces equivalent to at least 4-5 users by myself.
Shouldn’t my point acquisition rate be proportional to that?
Yet according to that veteran’s tip post, top and highest-ranking users easily earned tens of thousands of event reward points daily…
With this suspicion in mind, I closed the gallery for a moment.
After shouting “I am! The Commander’s lover!” to the monster with a “Gah!” sound,
I called over the perpetually smiling Marian to ask her about this matter.
After listening to my question, Marian thought for a moment, then grinned as if it were nothing, leaned her head on my shoulder, and answered.
“It’s simple, oppa.”
“What is it?”
“When the captains spread out to solve those quests, they end up clashing with fleets from other factions in the area.”
“…Ah.”
Marian’s explanation was straightforward.
With pirates spreading out everywhere, while clearing quests, they frequently clashed with not only monsters but also Xenovia Empire and Earth Federation fleets, as well as the “users” affiliated with them.
Of course, I couldn’t just take Marian’s word for it, so after thanking her and sending her away, I immediately opened the gallery to search for reactions about pirates.

Title: Seems like I’m encountering pirates frequently these days

But these guys don’t quite seem like aggressive mobs
Somehow their behavior pattern is unusual, like they’re searching for something
Did the admins add something new? How’s everyone else experiencing this?
Comments:
-[I’ve encountered those guys too, damn S-rank captains suddenly appeared and I almost died]
-[Yeah, there are unusually many pirates appearing at faction border areas these days]
-[And there are also real pirates that spawn naturally besides the pirate union members, making it even more chaotic lol]
-[I think the admins might be testing things before launching a new event]
-[I heard similar fleets appear occasionally from monsters, Xenovia, and Earth too]
-˪[Oh that does seem to be the case]

“Hmmmm.”
“What’s wrong, Commander?”
As I sighed after realizing there was a critical problem with the “pirate-style automated(?) quest acquisition system” based on gallery users’ reactions,
Jessica, who had just finished various tasks including a resource transfer quest to the monster faction, looked at me with a puzzled expression.
I shared the “truth” I had just discovered and showed her the gallery screen as evidence.
Jessica nodded with a serious face, apparently recognizing the severity of the problem.
“According to that… the pirates are being treated as ‘monsters,’ so other commanders are attacking them?”
“Plus, there’s natural engagement with other faction fleets as well.”
Considering that the deployed pirate fleet numbered over 100,000 ships, and nearly 1,000 pirate groups were participating excluding major figures like Leonard’s group…
It meant that only about 1-2%, maximum 5%, of them were actually completing quests properly.
This was truly something I couldn’t have known from my experience, and moreover, it was a completely unexpected situation.
I found myself sinking into contemplation about how to solve this problem.
