Ch.93Chapter 93

After Sera left, Yuria felt slightly troubled.
As a professor, she couldn’t directly ask students how they were interpreting the current situation, but after Sera spoke so candidly, she understood how much information had been revealed from the students’ perspective.
It was an accident, an unavoidable leak.
Yuria thought that if she had known someone at the Academy would act so violently, she wouldn’t have left Ourr exposed like that.
Anyway, Yuria’s concern wasn’t about that. It was about Ouroboros.
At first, she had unconsciously felt fear due to Ouroboros’s intimidating presence, but after actually conversing with her, she realized that Ouroboros, like Ourr, was not a harmful entity.
By the time she realized this, she had no idea what to do.
Her determination to “suppress you with Ourr so you won’t scatter across the world” had become meaningless.
There was no need to suppress anything. Ouroboros simply wanted to know the world, and had merely filled her boring daily life with insignificant deaths before closing her eyes.
It was a misunderstanding and distance created because they hadn’t communicated, because they had no intention of communicating.
Now that she had realized this, Yuria held her throbbing head, not knowing how to resolve the situation.
Since she had been close with Ourr, she needed to bring Ourr out, but to bring Ourr out meant killing Ouroboros. Furthermore, concerned about the aura that would emerge from Ourr’s body, she would have to kill Ourr too.
Isn’t it ironic? Despite being called an immortal Demon God, she was actually close to death. The fact that they had become inseparable entities was Yuria’s biggest problem.
“…Ah.”
Five nights? It was already Wednesday, so not much time remained. Friday afternoon was the end, or Saturday at the latest, and she kept questioning herself about what to do.
Does Ourr know about Ouroboros’s existence? That question also remained.
Questions. Everything was a question. There were many things she was curious about and wanted to know, but nothing was being resolved.
“What’s wrong?”
Ouroboros glanced at Yuria, who was holding her head. She even paused watching the video of her achievement of eating eight pizzas to ask the question.
Yuria remained still with her hands covering her eyes, then carefully lowered them. Light gradually entered her previously darkened vision. She met Ouroboros’s calm gaze.
Her heart pounded.
Her heart sank at the realization that everything would be stained with blood.
Having killed countless times, she didn’t understand why she was hesitating now, what was so frightening.
Biting her lip firmly, Yuria, rather than addressing the current situation, asked Ouroboros a genuine question.
“Ouroboros, is it okay if you just sleep for five nights and go back in?”
Not understanding the intent of the question, Ouroboros tilted her head. After pondering for a moment, she suddenly widened her eyes.
“Can I stay longer?”
A slightly expectant smile spread across her previously expressionless face.
Ouroboros knew she had wheedled her way into extending her stay by one day. That’s why it was actually six nights, not five.
But if she could stay longer, she would welcome it anytime.
There were so many new things that every day was precious and had to be used efficiently to learn about them all. Having already spent enough time understanding herself, she was destined to focus on everything outside herself rather than things related to her.
That’s why Ouroboros’s eyes sparkled.
Yuria groaned, wondering if she had said something unnecessary.
Thanks to Sera speaking well to the students, they approached Ouroboros as “Ouroboros” the personality, rather than treating her like Ourr.
They greeted her warmly while maintaining a certain distance, waving and asking what she was interested in. When Ouroboros replied “eating,” all the students found it fascinating.
While Ourr would eat if given food but otherwise not care, Ouroboros actively expressed interest, which seemed unusual.
Anyway, after hesitating briefly, Yuria told Ouroboros what she had been thinking about all day.
Ouroboros listened quietly. Since she was happy with anything as long as she could live here, she nodded as if it was fine.
“Originally, I’m the main personality and the owner, but here I’m the uninvited guest. I can accept that.”
“…That’s not why I said it.”
Yuria felt a pang in her chest at Ouroboros’s words.
She quickly interrupted Ouroboros. Her clenched fist rested gently on the table.
A life spent researching, killing, and studying. Despite living that way, there were still so many inadequacies.
Why hadn’t she tried to communicate? Because she was afraid. Because she hadn’t tried hard enough to face an opponent she couldn’t defeat. The desire to exclude had existed rather than the desire to communicate.
Now she was trying to separate death from an immortal Demon God. But she doesn’t die. It was strange to worry about how to make coexistence possible between beings that inherently cannot coexist.
“If you sleep just a little while, I want to make sure you can meet and play with Ourr later.”
“Ourr.”
Ouroboros murmured quietly.
She hesitated momentarily at the name of the second personality who could move around in this body, a place she couldn’t see. Then she raised the corners of her mouth.
She was grateful to the being who had given her even this small gift of life, even if that being was “another version of herself.”
Just because it was another version of herself didn’t mean all the credit belonged to her. If “Ourr” was derived from “Ouroboros” but was not Ouroboros, then Ourr could also be considered a separate entity.
Ouroboros was interested in everything outside herself.
She wanted to ask what kind of personality Ourr had that allowed her to take the first step that she herself couldn’t take. After all, finding it pleasant after arriving and being able to step into human society for the first time were definitely different abilities.
“—Alright. I’ll wait for Ourr.”
“Ouroboros.”
Ouroboros nodded once, as if she had decided something.
There was nothing to fear.
“How many more nights do I need to sleep before that moment comes?”
Ouroboros asked Yuria.
Yuria couldn’t give a proper answer to that question.
“Surely, it will be just one night.”
Ouroboros answered her own question with a small smile, as if to say there was no need to worry. Perhaps she wanted to tell Yuria not to worry.
That made Yuria’s lips twist even more.
How could two personalities residing in one body coexist? Making them wake up simultaneously was impossible. Whether it was possible to extract one personality and place it elsewhere was unknown, but it didn’t seem easy.
Thinking was the priority. Research usually came after establishing some framework. That’s why Yuria’s mind was in chaos right now.
Although Ouroboros couldn’t know this, she said she could wait anytime.
**
Ouroboros’s week.
Ouroboros was satisfied. She had seen many things, gone to various places, and tried different foods.
It was a much richer experience than the tens of thousands of nights spent in the forest. It was a stimulating daily life that completely erased the monotony.
It felt like waves had risen in what had been calm waters, making her heart constantly flutter with excitement.
“—It was fun.”
“Ouroboros…”
Ouroboros sat in a pristine white space specially prepared by the academy. As she sat in the chair smiling, Yuria sobbed slightly.
The ring on Yuria’s finger also seemed to sparkle slightly, as if it too was shedding tears.
Yuria hadn’t known she was such a sentimental person. Even though she realized it now, she couldn’t control her emotions.
“I told you. I am Ouroboros, a perfect being. Because I circulate endlessly, I am ultimately eternal.”
“Even so.”
“It’s not an eternal farewell. I’m just going to sleep for one night.”
One long, long night.
A lengthy time that didn’t particularly require patience. Ouroboros was willing. She couldn’t stop her heart from racing with the certainty that when she woke up from a deep sleep, she would open her eyes to this world again and do enjoyable things.
“Goodbye.”
With that small farewell, one life was extinguished.
With the red silence dripping onto the chair, one life distorted its surroundings.
“Ah, it hurts…”
Yuria was startled by the form of the aura that spread out with a whoosh. Despite immediately activating the power of the ring, she felt something different from before.
Yuria’s aura typically asserted its place proudly within the Demon God’s aura. But now, the Demon God’s aura seemed to be eating away at Yuria’s aura.
Unable to believe it, Yuria opened her eyes wide and looked at Ourr, who was sitting in the chair crying.
It hurts.
That’s what she seemed to be wailing.
A week-long sleep. But for the one who had just woken up, that time was so fleeting that she couldn’t release all the shock then, and was beginning to express it now, in this moment.
The torrent pushed Yuria away.
