Ch.9292. Giant Wolf Go■ra
by fnovelpia
After deciding to create a monster based on the Winter Wolf, with a mutated Winter Wolf feel, the first thing I thought about was the form of the monster, which had nothing determined yet except that it would walk on two legs.
It could be a typical werewolf-like form with joints twisted to enable bipedal walking, or perhaps more extremely, something that looked like a human body wearing wolf skin.
After considering various potential monster appearances and pondering for quite some time—
“Do I really need to be constrained by the wolf concept?”
I came up with the idea that it only needed to give off a wolf-like impression, and after much deliberation, I completed the design for a new type of wolf monster.
First, its skeletal structure and muscles resemble those of a werewolf, with reverse joints and a protruding snout.
Its waist is naturally bent, allowing it to walk on two legs normally but easily switch to all fours when needing to sprint quickly. Its arms are quite long, giving it sufficient reach when swinging its claws.
But there’s a decisive difference between this Winter Wolf-based monster and a typical werewolf-type monster—namely, that this werewolf monster’s body has scales in certain areas, along with horns and a reptilian tail.
Starting with the skin, the monster’s belly is protected by white mythril scales growing over the leather, guarding the relatively vulnerable underbelly. The tough back hide not only has fur growing on it, but the lower jaw resembles that of a reptile, making it look almost like a reptile wearing wolf skin.
The tail is also unique—instead of a bushy wolf tail, it has a thick cylindrical lizard-like tail, with blue-glowing black psychic crystal protrusions growing along the spine line like G*dzilla, which assist with psychic abilities.
The front paws have also changed significantly, resembling reptilian forelimbs modified into hand-like appendages with four long fingers (a thumb and three others), tipped with black adamantium claws that could tear through metal if charged with a force field.
On its head, a large, beautiful horn grows from the forehead like a unicorn’s, allowing it to charge and ram opponents in close combat or fire psychic energy beams from the horn.
Normally I would have stopped here… but thinking about it carefully, a 20-meter height seemed a bit small for a giant monster.
No, 20 meters is certainly not small, but it doesn’t meet my mental standard for monsters—being taller than a high-rise building—so it somehow didn’t feel quite right… anyway, that was my concern.
However, even this 20-meter size was already pushing the limits, and increasing it further would risk creating a giant meat balloon with negligible combat power. To maintain fighting capability at a larger size would require making it a rank 0 monster.
So while pondering how to increase its size while maintaining combat effectiveness…
“What if I use that?”
While searching through the genes I had collected, I discovered a skill that exists in the game called “Gigantification,” and decided to apply it to the Winter Wolf.
Gigantification. A psychic skill added in the 4th edition, with an effect that’s clear from its name—it increases the size of the target, the psychic user.
E-rank Gigantification increases size by 1.5 times, D-rank by 2 times, C-rank and B-rank by 3 and 4 times respectively, and at A-rank, it can increase height and body size by up to 5 times.
Typically, a close-combat hunter with an average height of 3 meters (thanks to various implants) would become a 15-meter giant when using Gigantification, and the game’s size-proportional stat adjustment system was confirmed to work normally.
When Gigantification was first revealed through a PV at GameCon, everyone predicted it would be the salvation for Bruiser types, whose performance had been somewhat mediocre through the third edition… but who would have known?
The 4th edition bombed for various reasons and became a dark history, and the Gigantification skill itself turned out to be somewhat broken.
The basic duration is only 3 minutes, and even this time rapidly decreases with movement while in the gigantified state, so effectively one can only move in the gigantified state for about a minute.
Moreover, it blocks the use of other psychic abilities in the gigantified state, presumably to prevent gigantification-body enhancement combos, so naturally this skill became one that only certain enthusiasts used for tokusatsu roleplay.
Later, in the 5th edition, it became a skill for some Ein-type monster bosses rather than being available to players… but that’s not the important part.
The Gigantification skill has several drawbacks, but it’s a skill that instantly increases the weight class (size), which is unexpectedly important in this game, so it seemed a bit of a waste to just give up on it.
However, this Gigantification skill not only consumes massive psychic energy while maintained, but also has the fatal flaw of sealing the Winter Wolf’s only ranged attack, the Psychic Cold Breath.
Therefore, after deep contemplation, I came up with a revolutionary idea.
“What if I combine it with an externally attached monster designed for Gigantification?”
That is, I could simply create an external psychic life form that would use the Gigantification skill instead.
I could just place it in a psychic life form maintenance device and implant it inside the body. All it needed to do was cast Gigantification on the Winter Wolf, so I didn’t need to worry about other aspects.
The psychic energy needed to maintain Gigantification could be refined and sent by me from the psychic dimension, and this would allow the wolf monster to use psychics even in its gigantified state.
Therefore, the final completed wolf monster was something like this:

With excellent all-around strength, agility, and vitality—the three key close combat stats—body parts made of special materials like adamantium-plasteel alloy and mythril that are significant enough to be considered traits, plus various close combat support skills.
The Frost Wolf, with these outstanding close combat capabilities, is also an ice-type psychic user befitting its name.
With Psychic Cold(A)—a psychic substance disguised as cold that penetrates the target’s body—and Cold Manipulation(B) that allows precise control of it, plus the Ice-type Psychic User(A) trait that excels specifically in psychic cold abilities, it would demonstrate destructive power worthy of a giant monster.
Moreover, the Frost Wolf’s neck is equipped with a specialized bio-weapon designed solely to condense psychic cold and expel it as breath, and if it runs low on psychic energy, I can supply more through the psychic life form in its body.

Psychic Life Form Maintenance Device(A)
Meanwhile, the psychic life form to be housed in the Psychic Life Form Maintenance Device(A)—commonly known as a high-grade coffin—was an entity closer to a tool, created using the psychic skill Gigantification(A).
Normally, wild psychic life forms are born in the psychic dimension, which consists of psychic energy containing human thoughts and souls, so they tend to exhibit excessively—in a negative sense—”human-like” appearances, but this one is different.
Being artificially created and with no thought patterns incorporated during its creation, this entity has no personality.
True to its name, this psychic life form—the “Gigantification Device”—is closer to a tool that uses the Gigantification(A) skill when activated.
