Chapter 9 – 2nd Job Advancement

“Arang, congratulations.”

After defeating the monster, light emanated from my body, and I leveled up.

“Thanks. Let’s hurry up and get my second job change!”

The requirement for the second job change was level 30, and I hit it with that last level up.

I was currently a Knight, a basic one-handed sword class, and now I could choose my second job.

There are three job options for Knights:

First, the Berserker, who uses powerful skills by sacrificing their own health.

Second, the Magic Swordsman, who combines magic with various buffs and attack spells.

Third, the Swordmaster, who stubbornly relies on just their sword skills.

All three jobs have clear advantages.

The Berserker dishes out massive DPS, but requires constant attention from a healer.

The Magic Swordsman buffs the party, increasing the overall DPS of the GuildRaid Group more than their own.

Unlike the other two jobs, the Swordmaster doesn’t gain any special powers, but instead gets a weapon proficiency system. Raising proficiency grants various skills and weapon stat bonuses.

All are attractive jobs. You can change jobs whenever you want, but since each job has different proficiencies and equipment, the first job you pick usually becomes your main.

That’s why I’m 고민 [worried/agonizing].

“Pink Berry, you said you’ve done Raids before?”

“Yeah. I was active until recently.”

“Then you’ve encountered all three of these jobs in Raids?”

“Yeah, I’ve met them all. Especially Berserkers.”

“Really? Then, from a healer’s perspective, what do you think?”

“Hmm… Berserkers definitely need babysitting, so they’re a pain. Magic Swordsmen can throw out heals in emergencies, so they were convenient during tough tries. Swordmasters were just easy because I didn’t have to worry about them.”

So, if you only look at damage, it’s Berserker. If you want to buff the entire GuildRaid Group, it’s Magic Swordsman. If you just want something easy, it’s Swordmaster.

“Arang, I think Swordmaster would suit you?”

“Why?”

“Well, one of the Swordmaster skills is a passive that buffs you every time you Parrying. So, during boss fights, I sometimes try to Parrying the easy patterns with the Tank.”

“Ooh…!”

“I think Arang would be good at utilizing that skill. From what I’ve seen, it requires more Physical Skill than the other jobs.”

As soon as I heard that, I immediately decided on Swordmaster.

The first skills I received as a Swordmaster were [Chain Attack] and [Sword Mastery].

The straightforward skill names are uninteresting but pleasing.

[Chain Attack]

Swing your sword to attack the front. Attack speed increases by 3% for 3 seconds with each successful hit. Stacks up to 10 times.

Attacks with 110% damage.

[Sword Mastery]

Attack Power +5 Increase

Attack Speed +5% Increase

Sword Mastery is a passive skill, and Chain Attack seems to be a mix of active and passive. I need to use it to know for sure.

“Hey, Arang.”

“Yeah? What’s up?”

“Um… I don’t have much time left to be logged in…”

“Time logged in? What do you mean? How much time is left?”

“Haven’t you been playing for long? How long have you been playing?”

“I’m only on my second day.”

“So you don’t know yet. You can only use the Endoflife terminal for 16 hours a day.”

“Huh!? Really…? Oh, but wait a minute…”

I was briefly worried that I could only enjoy LEORE for 16 hours a day, but then something felt off.

I distinctly remembered that more than 16 hours had passed since I started playing LEORE on the first day. Oh, right.

When I think about it, my Endoflife terminal is different from other people’s.

Since it’s a medical Endoflife terminal, it runs for a full 24 hours by default.

In fact, even when I slept on the first day, I slept in the virtual world through the Endoflife terminal.

I’ve only come out of the Endoflife terminal twice in the past two days: once for a checkup after regaining consciousness, and once to meet my parents.

Pink Berry opened the menu and logged out immediately.

Now that Pink Berry was gone, I decided to do some minor sub-quests.

Basically, the Endoflife terminal I’m using is a medical device that automatically provides nutrients and removes waste.

In theory, as long as power and supplies are provided, I can use the Endoflife terminal for 365 days without any problems.

Of course, I don’t intend to do that. No matter how much I like and enjoy games, I know how to distinguish between reality and the game world.

But while I’m enjoying LEORE, reality will probably take a backseat. In the first place, there’s nothing I can do in reality.

When I opened the Endoflife terminal menu to check the alarm, I received a message from Pink Berry.

She said she had fun playing together today. And she asked if she could use the footage of us defeating the Corrupted Judge Field Boss for her Ryutube video.

I naturally said OK.

My appearance and nickname have already spread as much as they can.

Since the director directly left a notice about me in LEORE, I don’t think there will be any particular issues.

If you don’t believe the words of the game’s General Director, you’re just crazy.

Having made Raid strategy videos before entering Arang’s body, I know how big a deal it is to clear the second Field Boss, the Corrupted Judge, with just the two of us.

Now that I’ve become famous, I need to make sure people recognize me as a healthy and talented user in the game.

I’m too lazy to directly inform people and do things myself, but since Pink Berry offered to do it for me, I should gladly accept it.

I don’t need money anyway. I have money to spare. Money.

As soon as I entered the cash shop with a smile, my lips automatically curled up at the sight of 100 million.

Even though they’re not selling stat-boosting items, I’m someone who thinks costume avatars also affect stats.

The most common way to spend money in LEORE is on costume avatars.

Since I sleep here, I should at least have a bed. So, I bought the biggest bed and placed it in the center.

Then, I bought a TV that I could watch videos on without opening the menu and decorated it into a room-like space.

While I was decorating, an alarm went off, indicating that someone had entered the hospital room.

When I turned on the TV and operated it with my hand, the inside of the hospital room appeared on the huge screen.

It was Anna and my mother.

[Arang, did you sleep well?]

My mother came in and touched my stomach. Usually, she would hold my hand, but since I don’t have hands and legs, touching my stomach has become the norm.

Being touched on the stomach wouldn’t have been a big deal in the past, but now it’s a little embarrassing.

“Yes, Mother.”

[Oh, Mother…?]

“Don’t you like it…?”

[N-no, it’s not that… It’s just that Arang suddenly seems more mature… It feels awkward.]

“Ah… Th-th-then, M-mom…?”

[Yes! Mom. Mom is going to go now that she’s confirmed that Arang is doing well. I came to see Arang before leaving for work overseas.]

“Have a safe trip. I’ll contact you often.”

[Okay. If there’s anything uncomfortable, be sure to tell Anna, and if anything happens, you have to tell Mom. Got it!?]
