Ch.89[Episode 89] Hyperdimensional Cartel
by fnovelpia
[“This is… absolutely… impossible…”]
Sir Dominica’s voice over the receiver trembled like a mortal who had encountered an incomprehensible being.
Meeting her parallel world self had been due to an event, and the fact that they couldn’t meet again until the next event was common knowledge that her boss Cubas had told her.
But now that common sense was shattering.
“It seems my hypothesis was correct.”
Sir Dominic rose from the sofa and began tidying the messy table.
“Slimes have a property of trying to restore damaged or missing parts. Since half of the core went into each of our phones, my theory that they would try to restore the missing half was correct.”
That’s right.
When the slime was backed up to Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s phones, the slime’s core had already been split in half, with one piece going into each of their phones.
When Sir Dominic turned on the S.P.Y app in the middle, the slime was restored enough to move with its own consciousness.
Then the slime that entered Sir Dominica’s phone must be the same.
However, when the slime approached the screen, Sir Dominic noticed that it still only had half of its core.
When a core breaks, the slime’s life force gradually drains away.
This was knowledge close to common sense.
Yet this slime in Sir Dominic’s phone maintained its original form despite having a broken core.
This meant that the core in Sir Dominica’s phone and the core in his phone were being treated as one for some reason.
Above all, this slime was already a being that had survived between dimensional rifts.
Sir Dominic believed that by combining these factors, contact could be made even across parallel worlds.
Logic that an expert would call sloppy, messy, and nonsensical.
But was heaven helping Sir Dominic?
Sir Dominic’s hypothesis had become reality.
[“…You’re right. I forgot about the slime’s existence. It’s quite cute.”]
Sir Dominica seemed to have only noticed the existence of the S.P.Y app after hearing Sir Dominic’s explanation.
[“I thought you were just a battle-obsessed idiot, but you have such a sharp side too. If I were someone else, I might have fallen for you.”]
The sound of Sir Dominica’s broad smile could be heard through the receiver.
[“So, what do you plan to do with this incredible deviation, Sir Dominic?”]
Sir Dominica was quite excited at the moment.
If it was Sir Dominic, who had turned Sir Dominica’s accidental action into a variable, he would surely devise an incredible plan and lead her into an amazing adventure.
However, that expectation was shattered in just 30 seconds.
“Well, call me occasionally when you think of it. Isn’t it better to at least check on each other like this rather than just waiting endlessly from afar?”
Sir Dominic had no particular thoughts.
His simple happiness was just greeting the people he cared about.
From the beginning, he had lost his family and had no one he could call a comrade.
That’s why Sir Dominica’s existence and their connection was as precious to him as his own value.
Of course, Sir Dominica was also Sir Dominic.
[“…I thought you might have some grand plan to devour this Gachaland.”]
Sir Dominica directly expressed her disappointment to Sir Dominic.
“That’s impossible.”
Sir Dominic said.
“A knight is not a being who incites chaos, but one who suppresses it. My master said so.”
[“Which one?”]
“The sixth.”
Sir Dominic thought of his sixth master.
A man soaked in alcohol and women who died of indigestion while drunk at the end.
Though he had only served him for two weeks, that knight knew how to beautifully package his words.
[“That’s right. You were a knight. A knight to the bone.”]
Sir Dominica’s sigh leaked through the receiver.
[“Still, this variable creates quite an interesting situation.”]
“Variable? Interesting situation?”
Sir Dominic questioned Sir Dominica’s words.
Sir Dominica opened her mouth to answer Sir Dominic’s question.
[“Think about it. Me working in the Executive branch. You working at System Industries. And our siblings working at the Black Company. Right now, we’re each in one of the three wings that move Gachaland.”]
Of course, we’re just low-level employees, she added with a self-deprecating joke, but her voice was full of amusement.
[“If something happens, we can gather information among ourselves to solve it. This is a really huge advantage.”]
“An advantage. But there’s no guarantee that what happens in each of our worlds will be the same.”
Sir Dominic’s doubt was realistic.
Each world was slightly different.
This meant that those small differences could become significant variables that change the outcome.
As if answering that doubt, Sir Dominica replied.
[“According to my boss Cubas, the three wings at least don’t change. As they are the pillars of the world line, they’re absolute reference points that never change.”]
v.a.l.l.o.c. didn’t know about that.
Sir Dominic recalled v.a.l.l.o.c., who only told him random things.
With his mouth stuffed full of donuts.
Shaking his head to clear the afterimage of v.a.l.l.o.c., Sir Dominic spoke to Sir Dominica again.
“That means…”
[“Yes.”]
Sir Dominica agreed with Sir Dominic’s words in an excited voice.
[“It means we can know information better than others.”]
The three wings leading the world were not on good terms with each other.
It wouldn’t be strange to say that most of the major problems in Gachaland stem from the antagonism between the three wings.
Because they distrusted and opposed each other, there was little information sharing between the three wings.
Then, if one could know to some extent all the information between those three wings?
That would be the variable that could help one get ahead in this Gachaland.
Just as Sir Dominic thought that far—
Ding-dong♬
The doorbell rang.
[“Just a moment. My doorbell is ringing.”]
“Same here. Who could it be?”
It seemed Sir Dominica’s doorbell had rung as well.
Sir Dominic put down his phone for a moment, walked through the hallway, and opened the door.
“Hello, Heaven Delivery! Are you Sir Dominic?”
A cap with winged delivery embroidered on it.
It was a delivery person from Heaven Delivery.
Unlike the person who came before, this innocent-looking blond man placed a bundle at the entrance and said to Sir Dominic:
“It’s been a while since I’ve moved such a large quantity. The fee has already been paid by the sender, and I just need your signature here.”
Ah. Sir Dominic had experienced this situation once before.
What happened after he bought the house suddenly crossed Sir Dominic’s mind.
“Excuse me, your signature…”
“Ah.”
Sir Dominic slightly bowed his head apologetically and took the pen offered by the angel to sign.
After confirming the signature, the angel nodded and smiled brightly at Sir Dominic.
“Thank you. Please use Heaven Delivery again next time!”
The angel delivery person quickly walked to the yard with small steps, then pulled out wings from his back and spread them wide.
They were so large they seemed to cover half the yard.
Sir Dominic stared blankly at the beautiful and wondrous angel wings, then suddenly his gaze fell on the bundle.
“…No way.”
Sir Dominic thought of the previous incident.
Rewards pouring out like a broken dam as soon as he opened the bundle.
And Sir Dominic being knocked around among those rewards.
“Surely not. Last time was accumulated rewards coming out all at once, so this time it should be less.”
Sir Dominic deceived himself like that.
But Sir Dominic decided to take one last precaution.
Instead of opening it in the room, he would open it in the yard.
Sir Dominica probably received this reward bundle too, so she would understand if he took a little longer to return.
Thinking that, Sir Dominic moved the bundle to the middle of the yard and opened it.
And once again, a wave of rewards swept over him.
…
Sir Dominic was human, and humans are creatures that develop through experience.
At least Sir Dominic thought so.
Yes.
Sir Dominic was not swept away by this wave.
“It was good that I opened it from a distance with the tip of my sword.”
Sir Dominic sighed as he looked at the rewards piled high in the middle of the yard.
Seeing that the resource organization button was activated when he touched it like last time, Sir Dominic moved all the resources to his inventory.
The actual numerical values weren’t that large, but for some reason, when gathered separately like this, they piled up like mountains.
Sir Dominic felt grateful for the existence of the inventory.
What remained were the items received as rewards and sponsorships.

…
It seems organizing everything will take quite some time.
