Ch.88. The Dragon’s Priestess (2)
by fnovelpia
“……I will create a new city in the ruins. That’s the new world I want.”
After overcoming the depression and helplessness caused by numerous disasters and misfortunes, Yu-na had found a new goal.
One could say she had developed an intense ambition that she wanted to achieve at all costs.
The fierce desire directed toward ambition could become a powerful driving force that makes people act, and Yu-na was no exception.
She found the courage to return to the city she had fled from in order to survive, to see the world that the great dragon god had spoken of.
“I’m going back to Gyeongju! And starting with Gyeongju, I’ll create the world I want!”
“Y-yes. If that is the path that satisfies you.”
The foolish dragon, who until just moments ago had known her as tearful and helpless, stared at Yu-na with a bewildered expression.
At Yu-na’s sudden dramatic change, Bahamut… no, this foolish dragon, secretly regretted that he might have comforted her with the wrong words.
“So please lend me your power!”
“The contract has already been established. I will intervene in the world through you.”
‘Well, I suppose it’ll be fine if I correct her when she goes astray…’
But it was already water under the bridge, and water spilled on the floor couldn’t be put back in the cup.
When Yu-na asked to borrow his power, this foolish dragon somewhat complacently thought it would be fine if he controlled her from the side, and with an unnecessarily impressive and dignified voice, only boosted Yu-na’s groundless confidence.
“Yes! In the name of Bahamut!”
At the dragon’s confident declaration, Yu-na began to retrace her steps to prove that her thinking was correct.
Having sworn to her god that she would no longer run away, she left Bahamut’s shrine and headed outside the cave.
“Kahak? Gob? Gob?”
“There it is.”
As soon as she went outside the cave, she heard the noisy voice of a green monster.
At that sound, Yu-na hid her body against the cave wall and secretly looked outside, where she saw green monsters similar in appearance to the ones that had been chasing her.
The monster she called a goblin was just watching from outside the cave, not daring to enter the interior.
Seeing this, Yu-na misjudged that the filthy green monster must be sensing the presence of the dragon inside the cave.
“…Yes. Yes! I wasn’t wrong at all!”
Yes, the aura of the great dragon would not tolerate the intrusion of such low-level monsters.
And unlike them, she was chosen by the dragon.
So, filled with groundless confidence and a sense of superiority, she stepped forward.
“You green monsters! How dare you try to defile the entrance to this sacred shrine!”
“Gob? Gob-gob?”
She boldly challenged them without fear.
Naturally, the green monster, seeing Yu-na fearlessly picking a fight with them, looked at the screaming crazy woman with a bewildered expression, quite unfitting for a monster’s role.
Although goblins were characterized by their endless lust when seeing females, the sight of a woman screaming like a lunatic would make even their burning lust fly away.
The goblin forgot its own nature and looked at Yu-na with an incredulous expression, wondering what groundless confidence had brought this crazy female before them.
“Lightning Bolt.”
“Gobeuuut!?”
But the price of carelessness was death.
Yu-na pointed her finger at the goblin and spoke a magic spell, and the powerful magical energy she had gained as the dragon’s priestess sent a powerful lightning arrow that electrocuted the goblin’s entire body, cleanly burning it to a crisp.
Unfortunately, another goblin nearby was also electrocuted due to its proximity to the first one, and unable to maintain consciousness from the intense current, it fainted with its tongue hanging out.
The surviving goblin was shocked to discover that the crazy female was actually a powerful crazy female mage, and tried to flee the scene, abandoning its comrade, but…
“Call Lightning. Magic Arrow.”
There was no escaping from Yu-na.
When she used another spell, lightning struck from the sky, and with a tremendous noise, it thoroughly burned the fleeing goblin as well.
The goblin that took a direct hit from the lightning collapsed with black smoke and died instantly, while the remaining goblin that had fallen from electrocution but not taken a direct hit was methodically finished off with magic arrows to ensure its death.
“Ah. Hahahahaha.”
The monsters before her were strong creatures from whom she could only flee until she reached Bahamut’s shrine.
But now, behold this sight.
Hadn’t she just easily dispatched opponents she would normally have had to hide from and run away from?
“I’m overflowing with power! Now it might be possible! It really might be possible!”
Moreover, despite using such powerful magic, Yu-na wasn’t tired; rather, she maintained her full condition.
Knowing that Awakened who had awakened to magic in the survivor camp would quickly run out of mana after using one or two powerful spells, Yu-na realized that she was stronger than those who had professionally awakened to magic.
Yes, Choi Yu-na, who had changed her class to Dragon Priestess, had reached a different level from ordinary Awakened.
“Boring. This is boring.”
Besides, the magic she had just used wasn’t even Yu-na’s main magic.
This was merely a byproduct she had obtained after changing her class to Dragon Priestess.
“How far can I fight with my current power?”
For Yu-na, who wanted to confirm her power before heading to Gyeongju, goblins were now trivial opponents.
She needed stronger enemies to be confident in her current strength.
Therefore…
“Grrrr……”
“Ah. Here they come.”
She had used the Call Lightning skill to summon lightning from the sky, drawing the aggro of monsters living in the area.
Yu-na had used Call Lightning to finish off the fleeing goblin, and in response to the intense noise it produced, powerful monsters appeared before her.
Densely packed muscular bodies with pig-like faces and green skin similar to goblins.
Monsters commonly known as orcs boldly appeared before Yu-na, leading their group.
“I’ll show you a god.”
Yu-na wasn’t afraid of the appearance of the monster group that looked several times stronger than goblins.
Rather, she boldly declared to the bloodthirsty orc group that she would show them her god.
“GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
Perhaps disliking her arrogant demeanor, the orc roared and charged at the crazy woman.
The axe it held would split her head and cut her body in half at any moment.
But even as the orc group charged fiercely at her, Yu-na responded with a maniacal smile.
“Summoning. Bahamut.”
Using the immense magical power she had gained as the Dragon Priestess as a sacrifice, she summoned the great dragon god to this place.
As the massive magical power she had obtained from changing her class disappeared at once, Yu-na felt considerable fatigue, but it didn’t matter.
It was appearing.
Her god, Choi Yu-na’s god, was descending upon this world, this land!
“GOAaaaaaaa…?”
The orc charging at Yu-na with an expression full of rage instinctively sensed something strange and dangerous, and that strangeness soon turned to shock.
What appeared before the orcs’ eyes was a massive magic circle.
The orc instinctively took a defensive stance, trying to respond to the magic coming at them, but the orc soon realized that this magic was on a completely different level from what they normally experienced.
The giant claw that emerged through the deployed magic circle flew straight at the orc, tearing its incredibly tough body to shreds.
“Woo. Wuhahahahaha!”
“Go? GOAAAAAAAAA!”
The orcs hadn’t yet realized they had lost a comrade in an instant, but the crazy woman’s maniacal laughter brought them to their senses, and they immediately charged at the caster, the crazy woman.
The giant hand was still there, but if they slaughtered the caster, that crazy woman, the magic would disappear.
The orcs knew this from long experience, and so they aimed for the crazy woman’s life without a moment’s hesitation.
That judgment couldn’t be considered wrong.
In fact, the reason something that appeared to be an arm was here was because Yu-na had used her magical power to partially summon Bahamut, who was connected to her.
“GAaaaaaa…!”
But pathetically, the orc charging at Yu-na was easily crushed like an ant under the claw.
Neither its tough body nor the brute strength derived from it, nor the combat experience gained through battles, nor the skill based on that experience, meant anything.
It was an overwhelming difference in class.
To Yu-na’s foolish dragon Bahamut, an orc was little different from an ant by human standards.
Just lightly scratching with a finger or pressing down was enough to make the orc tear or burst like an ant under the pressure.
“GA! GOGAGRA!”
“Oh? Are you running away?”
When the veteran warrior was crushed in an instant, the other orcs finally came to their senses and issued a retreat order.
The monster that appeared to be an orc made an instantaneous judgment that there was no chance of victory against the crazy mage.
That wasn’t a wrong judgment, and in fact, choosing to flee immediately after the veteran warrior fell might have been praised as an appropriate decision by an opponent.
“You cannot escape from my god.”
But there was no escaping from the crazy woman’s god.
Like swatting flies under a palm, the fleeing orcs’ bodies were slammed to the ground with a palm.
Many orcs were crushed just like the veteran orc that had targeted the mage, and had no choice but to follow its fate.
“This is good. Very good. With this power, this time…”
As all enemies before her fell to the power of her god, Yu-na smiled with genuine satisfaction, gaining a firm belief that with this power, it might be possible.
The small doubt she had harbored in her heart disappeared without a trace, and in its place, faith and belief in the name of religion were being filled.
For her, who had lost all hope, losing this faith now would mean death.
‘…Huh? I only taught her summoning magic, didn’t I? I never taught her elemental magic. I don’t know that. That’s scary.’
And her god… no, the foolish dragon Bahamut, who had watched the scene to the end, was shocked by the fact that Yu-na had used magic other than summoning.
After all, the magic Bahamut had gifted to Yu-na was the magic to call him, not elemental magic, which he had neither taught nor gifted to her at all.
‘Is it a p-placebo effect?’
At this incomprehensible sight, the foolish dragon turned his head.
What on earth was the problem!
Surely it had been a perfect plan!
‘Did I actually contract with a woman who is more dangerous than I thought?’
“Now, my god! Let’s return to the city!”
So this foolish dragon merely judged that perhaps he had chosen the wrong person to contract with, rather than blaming himself.
Of course, Yu-na, completely unaware of Bahamut’s thoughts, simply prayed to the great god who had lent her power and set off for Gyeongju, her destination.
They were truly a mismatched master and servant.
