Ch.88. SSS+ Rank Hunter
by fnovelpia
Hunters receive one ability when they awaken.
They can also purchase additional abilities or skills with Hunter Points, but since the amount of points needed increases with rank, the random ability obtained during initial awakening is a crucial factor in determining a hunter’s rank.
If one is lucky enough to receive a high-rank ability, their growth potential increases dramatically.
Just like how my stats for strength, stamina, and agility all rose to S-rank after I chose the “Close Combat Weapon” SSS+ ability, stats are typically adjusted upward based on the rank of one’s ability.
Without any fancy explanation, hunters simply follow the principle that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Your future is determined by the silver spoon you’re born with.
How long would it take for a hunter with an F-rank ability to gather Hunter Points, level up, and build stats to purchase A-rank or S-rank abilities?
Such a feat is nearly impossible unless you’re incredibly wealthy and can afford to tag along with A-rank and S-rank hunters, enduring their condescension while accumulating Hunter Points.
Meanwhile, hunters with A-rank, S-rank, or SS-rank abilities advance rapidly from the start with high stats, quickly purchasing good skills and abilities as they grow.
That’s why not all hunters are equal.
People say that awakening as a hunter is like winning the lottery, but there’s a vast difference between winning fifth or fourth place versus first or second place.
“Did I… become an SSS+ hunter after playing games for 10 years?”
This sounds like the title of some light novel.
I can’t believe it.
While playing Farming World, I’ve certainly thought it would be nice if hunting systems worked like they do for hunters, but I never actually fantasized about it becoming reality.
There was too much to do in Farming World, and if such a thing were possible, everyone would have devoted their lives to gaming.
But it actually happened.
This is a situation where shouting and celebrating wouldn’t be strange, but oddly, I don’t feel particularly excited.
It’s almost like… I’m accepting it as natural?
“So effort does bear fruit.”
Honestly, I think my lack of excitement stems from anxiety that I might wake up from this dream.
If I get too happy and this happiness suddenly ends, I might truly lose my will to live.
“Ah!”
Besides, there’s still an issue I need to resolve.
Being an SSS+ hunter is one thing.
“My Farming World.”
What happened to my map that was reclaimed?
I quickly lay down in the capsule and launched Farming World.
[Suhyeon’s Farming World 1 – Play Time: 41,284 hours – Day 12,119]
“Huh?”
The map was still there.
I tried logging in, and instead of getting a “Login Impossible” message, I connected just fine.
My character was even intact.
Level 999 with all stats at SS+, my farming window filled with abilities.
My mansion and farm were all still there.
I let out a sigh of relief, feeling the comfort of having my home back.
“What’s going on?”
But I definitely saw those system messages…
Did I see wrong?
Wasn’t I given a Secret Farming Map after my map was reclaimed?
I logged out again and checked for the Secret Farming Map from inside the capsule.
No such mode map existed in the save files.
“Could it be…”
I became a game character when I entered the game, and when I came out, the character farming window from the Secret Farming Map appeared.
The Secret Farming Map doesn’t exist in the game, but the login system is still active in reality.
What would happen if I logged in from here?
Could I connect without lying in the capsule?
If my reality and game character—no, Secret Farming Map character—are synchronized, what happens if I die in reality?
In Farming World, when a character dies, they lose a certain percentage of their farm and respawn at the hospital the next day.
Strictly speaking, the setting is that village NPCs find the “fatally wounded” character and rescue them, charging a fixed amount of resources in the early stages or a percentage if you have more than a certain amount. But what about in reality?
Obviously, resurrection isn’t possible.
What I’m curious about is this:
If the Secret Farming Map isn’t registered in Farming World,
If it’s not a game,
Would the resurrection system still apply if I died in the Secret Farming Map?
“…”
There are several ways to resolve this curiosity.
One is to ask the community.
Since the Secret Farming Map is surely exclusive to me, if I ask, I’ll probably get responses like:
– I’m curious, why don’t you try dying once
– Die and give us a review lol
– No such map exists
– Maybe you should go to the hospital?
I’d probably leave similar comments and laugh it off if I were them.
Another option is to experiment directly.
You never know until you try.
But the problem is that it’s a 50% chance.
It could work, or it might not.
I’ve already confirmed that the Secret Farming Map follows Farming World’s system, from tutorials to various commands.
That’s why I confidently followed it, believing it was a game.
So wouldn’t the “fatal wound” or “death” system also follow Farming World?
The probability is high.
However, if it doesn’t, I might never open my eyes again.
“Can I do it…”
Honestly, I’m confident.
As a 10-year veteran of Farming World, dying would be embarrassing.
I don’t even remember dying in the last 1-2 years.
Considering it’s the early stages and I’m playing in a stabilized map, with an SSS+ ability, the chances of dying are drastically reduced as long as I don’t let my guard down.
The safest option is to do nothing.
With just one SSS+ ability, I can live quite comfortably.
With S-rank strength, stamina, and agility, I could earn money in reality without entering dungeons or doing dangerous work.
For a 26-year-old NEET, I could earn enough to live much more affluently than I have so far, while safely and leisurely living in Suhyeon’s Farming World 1, which still exists.
But would that be fun?
“It would be fun.”
The reason I clung to Suhyeon’s Farming World 1 for 10 years wasn’t just for the stability or healing elements that Farming World provides, but more for the hunting system that gives an experience similar to being a hunter.
I still can’t forget the thrill of fighting SS-rank monsters and the dopamine rush when killing them.
That’s why I was excited when I received the SSS+ Secret Farming Map.
My whining and tantrum were just anger about having my 10 years taken away without my consent.
Now that I’ve confirmed my 10 years are still intact, a new challenge in the SSS+ map?
Plus, the more I play the Secret Farming Map, the stronger I become as a hunter in reality.
How can I resist that?
I needed to reconsider.
“Kim Suhyeon’s life is reborn from today.”
I opened the dark door of my room and went outside.
I saw a warm, well-lit spacious living room, completely different from my room.
A monster lying on the large sofa and the spicy smell of stew coming from the kitchen.
“Mom!!!”
“What’s the occasion? It’s rare to see you up at this hour.”
Ignoring the monster’s muttering from the sofa, I proudly called out to my mom.
“I’ve awakened. Your son will become the head of the household from tomorrow and enter dungeons, just so you know.”
“Awakened? Son, why enter dungeons if you’ve awakened? It’s dangerous.”
“I’ve become a hunter, Mom. I’m now an SSS+ hunter.”
“What nonsense. Absolute nonsense.”
Mom glanced at me while cutting a pumpkin, clicked her tongue, and continued making the stew with an expression that said “here we go again.”
My sister, lying on the sofa, expressed what Mom was thinking.
I understand.
This isn’t the first time her NEET son has made such declarations.
But what matters is that this time it’s real.
“Hey, is there room in your crappy guild? I need to check something, so I need to hunt in a dungeon. You were D-rank, right? That level should be fine.”
“What are you talking about? I’m C-rank. And stop talking nonsense. You’ll die if you enter a C-rank dungeon.”
“Who’s going to die? I’m SSS+ rank.”
“Why are you spouting nonsense after eating? Go back to your room and sleep.”
“Damn it.”
I went back to my room, leaving behind my sister who was kicking her legs in frustration.
Entering a dungeon doesn’t necessarily require other people’s help.
I was just trying to tag along somewhere because it was convenient, but if that doesn’t work, I’ll just go in alone.
And I just realized that I’m still wearing my shabby basic outfit.
The farming belt is still around my waist.
Which means…
“Wow…”
The belt’s inventory opened, and when I took out a wooden sword, it materialized in my hand.
“It works? Really?”
This is strictly a game item.
Is the Secret Farming Map a game?
That remains a question mark, but if not just the character but also the Secret Farming Map is synchronized…
“You mean I can bring resources from an SSS+ map… back here?”
Resource rarity: SSS-rank.
Resource deposits: SSS+ rank.
A gold mine has fallen into my hands.
