Ch. 86 Munchkin – Chapter 86
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 86
“Sophie, let’s get out of here first!”
Finn tugged on Sophie’s ear.
Staying here wouldn’t help Thor’s siblings.
It would be better to quickly call Lucy and Thor.
“Whoa!”
But then one of Brugos’s gang members grabbed Finn.
It was a dwarf named Malcolm.
“Look at this cute thing flying around! I should take it home and raise it!”
“Lu, Lucy!!”
Finn shouted toward Lucy in the distance.
Hearing Finn’s cry, Lucy immediately ran over.
“Huh?”
Malcolm recognized Lucy.
“Aren’t you that human kid from the smashing contest earlier? Haha, is your hand okay? That was hilarious. The fall was the cherry on top.”
“Let Finn go.”
“No.”
Malcolm sneered.
“By the way, I came in second place in last year’s smashing contest. Impressive, right? Do you think you can beat someone like me?”
“…”
A smile slowly crept onto Lucy’s face.
This was perfect timing.
She needed someone to vent her frustration on.
She immediately activated a skill.
[Dark Ascend]
A skill that maximizes physical abilities using dark energy.
The user’s strength, speed, and reflexes are temporarily enhanced.
Fssst—!
A dark aura began to rise from Lucy’s body.
Thud.
Lucy lightly pushed off the ground and approached Malcolm.
Though it was just a light push, the ground where Lucy had been standing caved in slightly.
In an instant, Lucy was in front of Malcolm.
She struck Malcolm’s solar plexus with her fist.
Of course, it was a light strike.
Thud.
“!”
Malcolm’s eyes bulged out.
He dropped Finn and collapsed to his knees.
“Guh, guh…!”
Malcolm groaned in pain.
He couldn’t breathe.
Lucy’s punch was so powerful that it was hard to believe she had looked so weak during the smashing contest.
It felt like being hit by a hammer.
“P-please, spare me…!”
Malcolm looked up at Lucy and pleaded.
Lucy nodded.
“Okay.”
She didn’t intend to kill him.
She just wanted to vent a little.
She slapped Malcolm’s cheek with her palm.
Whack!
Malcolm’s teeth scattered as he fell to the ground.
He didn’t move after that.
He had lost consciousness.
Lucy looked down at the unconscious Malcolm.
‘It’s already over.
How boring.’
She turned her gaze and saw Thor and his siblings fighting with the dwarfs.
Though Thor and his siblings outnumbered the others, they were being pushed back.
Lucy began to move.
She punched the head of a dwarf who was pulling Thor’s beard.
It looked like a light tap, but the sound was a dull thud.
The dwarf Lucy hit rolled his eyes and collapsed.
Thor looked at Lucy in shock.
“W-what….”
Lucy patted Thor’s shoulder and went looking for her next target.
She began taking down Brugos’ gang members one by one as they attacked Thor’s siblings.
Thud! Whack! Thump!
A smile crept onto Lucy’s face.
Until now, she had summoned undead or demons or used skills to subdue her opponents, but fighting like this wasn’t bad either.
It had a certain thrill to it.
Brugos’ gang couldn’t withstand Lucy’s punches.
Most lost consciousness after one or two hits, and even Brugos only lasted three.
“Guhhh….”
As the last remaining member, Brugos, fell, the area fell silent.
For dwarfs, fighting is a part of daily life.
Especially in lively places like festivals, it’s more unusual not to fight.
Usually, no one stops a fight unless weapons are involved.
Fistfights are practically part of the event.
When a fight breaks out, dwarfs drink beer and watch.
They even cheer for one side.
This time was no different.
The dwarfs cheered for Thor and his siblings.
Brugos’ gang had a bad reputation.
But the fight was leaning in Brugos’ favor.
Brugos’ gang had many skilled fighters, and Brugos himself was an excellent warrior who had fought in past wars.
It seemed like Brugos’ gang would win.
But then Lucy appeared, and the situation changed.
Lucy strolled around casually, taking down Brugos’ gang members one by one.
A light punch to the head or a slap to the cheek.
Yet, Brugos’ gang couldn’t withstand it.
They lost consciousness after one or two hits.
Brugos himself staggered and lasted three hits, even attempting to counterattack.
He threw a punch at Lucy.
Brugos’ punches were famously fast.
Dwarfs who had fought him said they couldn’t even see his punches.
Even drunk, his skills were still sharp.
Brugos’ punch flew toward Lucy.
Swish.
But Lucy simply tilted her head slightly to dodge.
Then, Lucy’s small palm slapped Brugos’ cheek.
Whack!!
Brugos flew backward, rolled on the ground, and stopped moving.
An incredible display of power.
The dwarfs forgot to breathe as they alternated their gaze between Lucy and Brugos.
It was unbelievable.
A seemingly fragile human girl had taken down Brugos’ gang.
“Sh-she’s amazing…!”
Someone broke the silence.
That comment triggered a wave of cheers from the dwarfs.
“Wow! That kid took down Brugos!”
“Brugos’ gang got wiped out like that!”
“She’s a hero!”
Someone raised a beer mug.
Soon, the other dwarfs raised their mugs as well.
“To the little hero!”
“To her!”
The musicians began playing an impromptu lively tune.
The sound of drums and harps filled the air.
The dwarfs clapped and chanted, “Lucy! Lucy! Lucy!”
Some dwarfs lifted Lucy into the air and began tossing her up and down.
The dancing and music resumed.
The dwarfs who had watched the fight were thoroughly excited, and the festival atmosphere reached its peak.
“Look at that face….”
“She’s so lovely….”
“She was a bit scary when she was fighting…”
“I really hope she becomes our sister-in-law…”
Hearing the whispers, Lucy slowly opened her eyes.
Thor’s siblings were huddled together, staring at her.
“Oh, she’s awake.”
As Lucy sat up, Thor’s siblings scattered in surprise.
Lucy smoothed her messy hair and looked around.
She was currently lying in the living room of Thor’s house.
After returning from the festival yesterday, she had collapsed and fallen asleep, and Thor had covered her with a blanket.
Lucy had hugged Finn and Sophie and fallen asleep under the blanket.
It was now morning.
Soft sunlight streamed through the window.
Lucy stretched.
She could feel Finn’s presence in her clothes.
Sophie and Finn were nowhere to be seen.
From the sound of Sophie’s laughter outside, it seemed they were out for a walk.
Creak.
The door opened, and Thor came in.
“You’re awake?”
Thor smiled brightly at Lucy.
Lucy nodded and looked at the basket in Thor’s hand.
Thor said, “I got some ingredients to cook. Don’t worry, no mushrooms. Just wait a bit. I’ll make something quickly.”
“No.”
Lucy shook her head and approached Thor.
“I’ll do it today.”
“Huh…?”
Thor’s face turned red.
“Y-you’ll cook…?”
“Yeah. I said I would.”
Lucy took the basket from Thor’s hand and headed to the kitchen.
Inside the basket were thick cuts of meat, onions, carrots, eggs, cheese, and various other ingredients.
This should be enough to make something decent.
Lucy put on an apron hanging in the kitchen and tied up her hair.
Then, she began cooking in earnest.
She sliced the thick meat and seasoned it with salt and pepper.
She chopped the onions and carrots and whisked the eggs with cheese.
Lucy’s movements were incredibly skilled and fast.
That’s because she had activated the skill she used during the fight yesterday, Dark Ascend.
She didn’t really need to use a skill for cooking, but Lucy wanted to do her best.
Thor’s siblings, who were secretly watching Lucy cook from the kitchen entrance, were amazed.
“Wow, she’s amazing…”
“She’s good at cooking too…”
“I really hope she becomes our sister-in-law…”
Lucy grilled the meat to a golden brown, sautéed the vegetables, and made scrambled eggs with cheese.
She also baked some bread to go with it.
A simple but delicious-looking meal was ready.
As Lucy placed the food on the table, Thor and his siblings gathered around.
Everyone had a happy smile on their face.
Sophie and Finn, who had been out for a walk, came in as well.
Lucy took Finn out of her clothes and placed him on the table.
“Well, let’s eat…”
Thor said quietly.
His face was still red.
Because this was exactly the life Thor had dreamed of.
Taking care of his siblings with Lucy by his side, living happily together.
“Thank you for the meal.”
Thor’s siblings bowed their heads toward Lucy.
Then, they all began to eat.
Lucy bit her lip and watched the dwarfs.
Honestly, she wasn’t very confident in her cooking.
Every time she had cooked for her grandfather or baked bread with Ellie at Leyton Castle, it had turned out terrible.
For some reason, Lucy’s cooking was always incredibly bad.
Even demons wouldn’t eat it.
But today would be different.
She had even used a skill to maximize her physical abilities just for cooking, and the menu was simple.
Sautéed meat and vegetables.
Scrambled eggs.
It was harder to mess up.
“How is it?”
Lucy asked softly.
Thor and his siblings were chewing the food with smiles on their faces.
But after a moment,
“Blech!”
They all spat out the food.
“Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!!”
By the way, Thor was the first to spit it out.
