# 79. Not-So-Ordinary Daily Life (4)
Our party members entered the library.
Chris, who came in first, looked at us sitting at the same table and said:
“What? You’re already here?”
“I came straight here, didn’t have anything else to do anyway.”
“Everyone, please take a seat.”
Following her instructions, they all sat down at our table.
By the way, not just me but all the other party members were here too. She had called everyone.
But judging by how everyone arrived at the same time, it seemed like everyone except me was told to come a bit later.
Anyway, our party leader, who gathered us here, spoke:
“The reason I gathered you all here today is because of the training I mentioned before the midterms. Now that the midterms are over, I’d like to start the training as I mentioned before. Is that okay with everyone?”
“Of course.”
“Absolutely.”
Everyone seemed to have been waiting for this “training.”
Perhaps it was because of recent events, like the discoveries at the palace and the almost certain war with the Babylon Kingdom.
“Since Albert and I are at similar levels, we’ll divide into two teams and conduct training separately.”
I had heard this on Sunday.
-Let’s divide the training with me and Albert as the centers.-
When I first heard it, I was puzzled, but thinking about it again, it seemed like a good approach.
From the beginning, she and I had completely different combat styles, and each party member had their own style, so grouping similar people together would be much more efficient.
Of course, I was pleased that she acknowledged me as being at her level.
I asked her:
“So who’s on my team?”
“We’ve basically divided the teams according to combat styles. Albert’s team has Chris, Reina, and Briton, making four. My team has Elin and Rachel. And as an exception, Eve will learn from Riel.”
It seemed like she simply divided us into close-range and long-range, but that was sufficient.
And Eve, who fights differently from her and Rachel by sniping from extreme distances, would indeed benefit from learning sharpshooting from Riel, who was skilled in marksmanship.
“So we’re on the same team after all.”
“We both fight at close range.”
“It definitely makes more sense to learn from you.”
“I’ll roll you around properly later and help you awaken.”
Like Reina about four days ago, Chris hadn’t undergone his first awakening yet.
Being both a capable priest and having advanced fighting skills, most crises probably weren’t even crises for him.
That’s why he still hadn’t awakened.
“That sounds a bit scary… when you say it like that.”
“Don’t tell me you’re already scared?”
“O-Of course not.”
Despite his words, he looked quite frightened.
The gap in ability he felt when seriously fighting me in the survival match seemed to have instilled fear in him.
“By the way, you’re really growing day by day… while I feel like I’m always in the same place.”
When Chris brought up this unusually heavy topic, Reina, who was sitting next to him, comforted him.
“I felt the same way, but now I’m much better. Once you achieve your first awakening, things will improve.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Chris was definitely an elite, easily in the top 1%.
But having me and her nearby probably made him think that way more often.
Chris himself probably knew that comparing himself to others was meaningless, but knowing that doesn’t make it easy to stop the comparison.
His feelings of inadequacy would only diminish once he could see and feel his own growth and achievements.
Of course, visible achievements require a lot of effort, but someone like Chris was more than capable.
As we were chatting among ourselves and they were doing the same on their side, she spoke as if she had just remembered something:
“I’ll contact you separately later about the detailed training schedule.”
“This is really getting serious.”
When she mentioned a training schedule, I suddenly recalled the days I spent with her in the past.
Back then, we also had a fixed training schedule and lived according to it.
‘It’s been a while…’
Living according to that schedule sometimes felt like being on a hamster wheel, but it also gave a sense of stability.
I couldn’t say that lifestyle was absolutely good, but if asked if it was bad, I wouldn’t say that either.
“It’s more efficient that way.”
Chris asked her, making a comment that was very much like her:
“So, for example, will we have one-on-one matches on Mondays and dungeon raids on Tuesdays, with different activities scheduled for each day?”
“Yes, that’s right. And for dungeon raids, we’ll mix up the teams each time. It’s better to practice coordinating with as many different people as possible.”
She was right that it’s good to practice coordinating with as many people as possible.
Though I hadn’t done that myself.
I found it more comfortable to be alone, and my skill set didn’t really match well with party play.
“Though Albert probably doesn’t care either way.”
Hearing her words, Reina said to me:
“Come to think of it, you really don’t fit well with party play. Party members can’t keep up with your tempo, and when you use your skills, even your teammates’ stats decrease. Can’t you make that pressure not affect certain people?”
“Unfortunately, no.”
Regarding controlling the pressure, as Reina suggested, I had tried to practice controlling it at will, but I could only make the pressure stronger in an instant, not weaker or selective about who it affected.
“But you must be incredibly strong in one-on-one fights.”
“Yeah, he even beat Raycle in that ranking match. I think his level was quite low back then.”
When Chris mentioned Raycle, something came to mind.
‘It would have been nice if he had joined our party…’
Raycle fought in almost exactly the same way as me, so I could have taught him well.
I could have given him detailed advice on what difficulties I faced with this approach and how to overcome them.
Unfortunately, Raycle wasn’t in our party, and he didn’t seem particularly interested in receiving guidance from me, even though he must have encountered those issues by now.
He probably thought he could solve those problems on his own.
‘He seems to have increased his training recently too…’
He had definitely been clearing dungeons and sparring with others more frequently than usual lately.
Training intensely like Raycle is now can sometimes lead to a sudden second awakening.
Anyway, it’s a positive change.
Excessive strain isn’t good, but that level of passion is necessary.
While I was thinking about Raycle, Chris brought him up:
“It would have been nice if Raycle had joined our party… since his style is similar to yours.”
“That’s a shame.”
In Raycle’s case, his second unique skill was a passive skill that helped with defense, so his potential was quite high.
He had a skill composition that allowed him to be both an excellent damage dealer and a tank.
He would have been quite helpful if he were in our party, but honestly, it didn’t matter much.
I wasn’t feeling any lack currently, and Briton would be able to fulfill the tank role excellently later on.
“But it doesn’t really matter.”
“That’s pretty cold…”
“Reality is cold. By the way, do you guys have any plans today?”
Everyone gave the same response to my question:
“Of course not.”
“I don’t, why?”
“I’m free too.”
I made a proposal to my three idle team members:
“Then shall we start today?”
“Start today?”
“Yeah, from today.”
They all seemed to be considering my proposal briefly, but one person answered without hesitation:
“Sure, I’ve got nothing else to do, so let’s start today.”
Chris showed enthusiasm from day one, and seeing this, the others seemed influenced and accepted my proposal.
“I’m in too.”
“Well… I’ll join as well.”
After the other two accepted my proposal, Chris immediately prepared to leave the library for the training grounds.
Reina stared blankly at Chris and asked me in a very small voice:
“Did you make up with Ichel?”
“I think so?”
“Then I guess it’s fine. Be careful from now on.”
“Yeah…”
Reina looked at them as they were already opening the library door and heading outside, and said:
“Hey! Let’s go together!”
“Just take your time, we’ll go ahead.”
They didn’t seem to have any intention of waiting for us and soon disappeared from our sight.
‘Why are they in such a hurry…’
I wondered as I got up from my seat to follow them, and Reina did the same.
“Let’s hurry too.”
