Ch.7Chapter 7. George (2)

    Chapter 7. George (2)

    [George: Jackson Village Raid

Number of demon worshippers eliminated: 76, demons: one.

It was a lesser demon like in Primson Village. It looked like an ant spirit with small limbs fixed to the ground, and it seemed to be preparing for battle as if it knew we were coming.

It was conducting some strange ritual in the center of the village, sacrificing worshippers. It seemed to have made various preparations, but the power difference was too great, so we eliminated it easily.

If we had arrived a bit later, someone might have been seriously injured. I couldn’t have won alone. That’s why we need to form groups.

This time we captured three demon worshippers. Currently torturing them with my comrades to extract information.

They keep repeating the same words, closer to beasts than humans. I’d like to say that normal conversation seems impossible. For now.

I’ll continue to report the situation and share information. Let’s all stay strong to return home.]

A strange ritual, huh? Did demons perform rituals like that in the game? I don’t remember well since it was a game I played 10 years ago.

Back when I was a clueless kid, I enjoyed and loved the game so much that I even sent emails to the game company, but 10 years have passed.

These days they say even a year changes everything, and it’s been a whole decade. I can barely remember the plots of animations or movies I enjoyed as a child, so how could I remember game settings?

Ah, I do remember Power Rangers Magical Power a bit. The protagonist’s father was a villain, and I remember he was really cool from beginning to end. But that’s all I can recall.

    – …

That’s how memories work. In the end, only a single moment remains in your memory far into the future. I guess you could call it the most impressive scene.

There was such a “moment” in “Surviving as Paladin” too.

It was the scene where a paladin who died protecting villagers from a demon was called by the goddess, resurrected, and rose from the ruins.

That was the first scene of the game. It’s no exaggeration to say I started playing because of that scene, which blended solemnity, beauty, and eeriness.

…I should have just thought “that looks so cool” and moved on.

Shaking off my belated regret, I continued searching for George’s posts.

George’s raid party had grown rapidly, becoming a group of over twenty people.

    [George: Demon surveillance is everywhere

It seems we’ve been spotted by demons living nearby. We’ve decided to withdraw from Jenson Village for now.

There are plenty of weapons deployed in Primson Village, and we’ve built temporary walls, so we can defend it somewhat.

We’re planning to attack before they complete their preparations.

There are three villages nearby. They’re all similar in size. We should expect one lesser demon in each.

Anyone level 5 or higher can handle a village alone and defeat a lesser demon. There are four level 5s in our raid party, including myself. It’s a fight we can definitely take on.

We’re dividing into three teams and attacking simultaneously. I’ll bring news of victory soon.]

George actively led his raid party against demons.

His bold approach attracted interest even from those who hadn’t paid attention to him before, and soon the entire community was focused on the raid party’s movements.

[Godori: George-ham is killing it again today]

[HellBrown: At this point, he’s Lord George. No, should we call him Saint George?]

[FullPlay: Things have definitely changed since George formed the raid party. Everyone used to spend time in the community talking about gloomy things like “when will I die?”, but now it feels like there’s hope. When I hit level 5, I’ll go down to a village and slay some demons too.]

    Some were praising George.

[Abraham: Anyone want to form a raid party? I’m level 4. Let’s hit a village together.]

    ㄴ [Bramanda: Where are you?]

ㄴ [Abraham: Mountains. Lots of maple-like trees.]

    ㄴ [Bramanda: Don’t you have a map?]

ㄴ [Abraham: Where do you get that?]

ㄴ [Bramanda: How would I know, you idiot. How can we form a raid party when I don’t even know where you are? Get a map first, then talk.]

ㄴ [Abraham: But what could I do even if I had a map? Do you think you could find your way here if I had one?]

ㄴ [Bramanda: What’s wrong with this moron]

ㄴ [MeleeSpy: Sigh… Abraham…! As a level 999 paladin, I command you. You are “demoted.”]

Some tried to form groups but failed.

[DinosaurPunch: Can’t we attach images to community posts? If someone who has a map could share it, everyone could join more easily. Of course, in a world with medieval-level civilization, maps probably aren’t very accurate, but it’s better than nothing.]

ㄴ [SamuraiJackson: I’ve looked around, but there’s nothing. Either the function doesn’t exist at all, or maybe it unlocks at a certain level.]

ㄴ [OneWolves: We could do so much if we could just attach images.]

Some were trying to find new community features. What was clear was that everyone was waiting for George’s victory report.

[George: Three village raid operation successful

Eliminated over 200 demon worshippers and three demons.

All three were lesser demons, in the forms of a moth, an ape, and a flower (stationary plant). I fought the ape directly, but I only heard about the others from my comrades, so I don’t know the details.

Four members died. All were level 3 paladins. We had casualties, but it was still a great victory.

I reached level 6. Killing demons definitely gives more experience than killing worshippers. In the game, you needed to be at least level 7 to be considered strong, right? Only one level to go.

For now, we’re planning to cross the mountains and keep moving upward. It’s like a territory-claiming game. With luck, we might meet other users.

If you want to join the raid party, send me a private message. I’m busy with various things, so I might not reply immediately.]

George’s raid party advanced, defeating various demons and growing in strength, receiving enthusiastic support from community members.

    [MeleeSpy: (Personal Opinion) I don’t fucking know~

I don’t know where George’s raid party is, but it doesn’t seem to be near the imperial capital…

Is it some super remote place? Like the end of the world?

Aren’t you getting too cocky? You all need to come here and see. Do you know how many of these bastards there are? Do you know how big they are?

Even though I’m warning you, nobody will believe me anyway~

Just don’t overdo it. What raid? It’s like hitting rocks with your balls.

Giving tips is good, but don’t get the kids all excited.

Kids~ You absolutely can’t win~ Just don’t try to know anything and live quietly alone in some secluded place~

This has been ‘advice’ from your level 999 paladin.]

MeleeSpy was the only one expressing concern, but no one paid attention to his words.

George with his achievements versus MeleeSpy who just posted nonsense. It was all too clear whose words people would trust more.

George continued to succeed, advancing with his raid party, and the number of paladins kept growing until they became a large group of over 40 people.

There were even posts saying that more than half of the users active in the community were members of George’s raid party.

[George: Found a group of survivors

They’re not users but residents of this world. It’s a group of over thirty people, led by several nuns.

Just to be sure, I pricked everyone’s fingers slightly, but their blood isn’t green.

We encountered them while raiding a mine. They said they had been hiding in the mine all this time. They were in a secret location and came looking for us when they heard the sounds of our battle.

Oh, I defeated the intermediate demon living near the mine. It commanded five lesser demons. All the worshippers it controlled were bat-humans, and they were more persistent than other worshippers.

I’ll tell you in case you encounter similar demons. If you face a demon with a lizard’s head and a bat’s body, keep burning its chest with “Holy Flame” skills. Otherwise, it won’t die and will keep regenerating.

It was quite difficult as it used strange magic too. Even while dying, it kept mumbling, trying to do something. Because of that damned creature, we lost seven comrades.

Pumopumo. Gustavro. HellBrown. OneWolves. Spotty. JjwoperJjwoper. DeulrongNalrong.

These are the usernames of the paladins who died fighting the demon. They were someone’s family, friends, and parents.

And they were all paladins dragged into this world and users of our community. Remember them all.]

Several users who were frequently seen in the early community lost their lives, and George took in the group of survivors hiding in the mine.

Meanwhile, someone continued to express concern.

[MeleeSpy: Did raid party guys never play the game?

What the intermediate demon was mumbling before dying

That could be a coordinate transmission spell.

In the game, we called it a Buster Call.

Did you interrupt the spell before it finished? If not, you’re in deep shit.

An intermediate demon is basically an executive, and if it sent coordinates to its superior, you’re fucked.]

    This seems a bit suspicious.

This post by MeleeSpy received 0 comments and was quietly buried, but somehow it caught my eye.

Was it because he spoke seriously without his usual nonsense?

[George: I got very important information from the nuns.

To drive demons out of this land, we need to close the dimensional gate used to summon them.

Then the supply of magical energy, which acts like oxygen for them, will be cut off, and they’ll perish.

They say there’s a dimensional gate open in the imperial palace in the capital. In my view, it seems like the only way to get back home.]

The dimensional gate in the imperial palace. Thinking this was truly important information, I mentally saved it and clicked on another post…

[MeleeSpy: Hey you fucking idiot George!!!

Where are you now? Around Latria, right? Didn’t you hear the earthquake???

They’re all heading that way!!! Even the ones that were hibernating have all woken up and are heading there!!!

Run away, you idiot!!! Don’t just run, scatter in all directions!!!

I fucking told you not to stir things up!!! I said everything would be fucked!!!]
