Ch.7979. A-Rank Dungeon Reward Box
by fnovelpia
[Level Up!]
I gained two levels at once.
It makes sense, considering it was a boss-level monster of a Level 0 biome.
And on top of that, I got a new quest.
[Main Quest 2]
[Chaos Energy]
[The chaos energy flowing into the Rift Dimension is the exact opposite of life energy. By tracking its source, you may find clues to purify and stabilize the Rift Dimension.]
[Find and eliminate the source of chaos energy in the Level 1 biome]
[Reward: SS-grade Life Skill Selection Ticket x1, SS-grade Ability Selection Ticket x1, Life Totem (100P) x3, Farming Stat +20, 10,000 Farm.]
“A main quest?”
Main quests represent the core story of this Farming World.
The main quest line that started with village restoration in the Farming World continued throughout, eventually leading to purifying the entire map, completing the mapping, and making it my own world.
But it seemed there was another main quest in the Rift Dimension.
“What exactly is this chaos energy?”
Just by the name, it sounds like the opposite of life energy—death energy or something similar. But seeing how monsters infused with chaos energy actually become stronger, it doesn’t seem that straightforward.
And when I look at items imbued with chaos energy getting additional options or enhanced power, honestly, from my perspective, I couldn’t see much difference from life energy.
If anything, isn’t it better than life energy? As someone who farms and sells items, I didn’t see the chaos energy accumulated in this corrupted forest as something bad—just more profitable.
Well, if the main quest requires eliminating all chaos energy to perfectly purify and stabilize the Rift Dimension, I’ll follow it.
As long as the process yields rewards like this, I don’t have any major complaints.
I was already confident I could become wealthy with life energy alone.
“Hmm. Maybe I can find clues by connecting it to the Farming World.”
The Rift Dimension is like the Farming World.
No, that’s not right. According to Lulu, the Farming World is essentially a simulation dimension created to test potential owners of the Rift Dimension.
It’s connected in a game format to help adaptation and find suitable owners for this Rift Dimension environment.
If that’s the case, the biomes in the Rift Dimension must be related to those in the Farming World, and this chaos energy might also exist as part of the Farming World’s system.
What could it be?
I feel like I’ve encountered something similar before. Or maybe not.
What I know for certain is that there was definitely nothing like this chaos energy appearing in Level 0 biomes.
But thinking more deeply, I do remember something similar from the very late stages of the game.
A place I hadn’t challenged despite mapping almost all of the final difficulty map.
The Level 10 biome that only appears in the final difficulty map.
I did break through it, but the environment was so harsh that just breathing there caused damage, making it impossible to stay long.
After discussing it with a tiny minority of hardcore players in the community, we concluded it was similar to the “Demon Realm” setting from fantasy novels.
So we called it the Demon Realm, and it was fitting because monsters appearing in the Demon Realm biome were vulnerable to holy power.
With holy power as their weakness, just coating yourself with it would automatically deal double fixed damage, and with the blessing of holy power, you could walk through the Demon Realm biome without taking any damage.
I remember frantically crafting holy power-related items and gathering resources for that purpose before coming here.
“Could it be that?”
It’s a reasonably logical deduction.
It might not be right, but testing it wouldn’t be difficult.
Especially here, where chaos energy is abundant.
I killed the Corrupted Ogre, but the corrupted energy hasn’t disappeared.
Since both the main quest and sub-quest require eliminating the “Corrupted Tree” to complete, the Corrupted Ogre was just a gatekeeper of sorts.
I had been looking around for something to cut down the Corrupted Tree, planning to collect all rewards at once, but couldn’t find anything like a switch.
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
I didn’t want to go home with this unresolved issue and spend days worrying about how to cut down the tree.
I pulled out one of the small potions from my potion pouch.
These potions are worth anywhere from a few million to tens of millions of won each, but they’re not particularly helpful in combat. The employee threw them in as a gift when I bought three doping potions, adding extras beyond what the remaining price would cover.
They weren’t very useful, but I brought them along thinking they might come in handy someday.
[Holy Water]
– Grade: D+
– Holy power with 40% purity.
– Grants holy power (D+) for 600 seconds.
This is truly a minor, insignificant potion.
Not high-grade holy water, barely half holy power and half water—a knockoff holy water.
When I received it, I thought they could have given something better, but I kept it because it could be useful in biomes with undead creatures.
I sprinkled the holy water on my Sewer Sword.
The sword was temporarily imbued with holy power, emitting a faint white glow.
It was so dim it was barely visible, but the holy power was definitely there.
“Will this really work?”
Though uncertain, I decided to try.
First, I tried cutting without using Leap Slash.
*Swoosh*
“Huh?”
The feeling was different.
When I tried to cut the Corrupted Tree before fighting the ogre using [Leap Slash], it felt like hitting steel and barely made a dent.
But now, without using any skills, just swinging the sword, the tree split like cutting through radish.
“Is this for real?”
And this was with just a D+ grade holy power coating on the sword.
It wasn’t even proper holy power.
If I had pure A-grade holy power, it probably would have cut through without any resistance at all.
But it didn’t matter.
If just cutting like this worked this well…
“600 seconds… that should be enough, right?”
It was plenty of time to cut down one giant tree that looked like a world tree.
After spending all my mana cutting the “Corrupted Tree” like I was whittling it down…
GROOOOOOAAAAR-!!!!!
A massive resonating sound came from the tree, and the entire forest began to shake.
SAAAAH!
Something evaporated with a hissing sound, and the world brightened.
The murky fog that had obscured my vision disappeared, and the clear sky of the Rift Dimension welcomed me again.
It wasn’t bright—it was already night, with something like a bright moon hanging in the sky.
But after seeing the hazy fog that had blocked my view, even this clean sky seemed infinitely bright.
[Quest Complete!]
[Quest Complete!]
And the two system messages that followed made my eyes clearer than ever before.
“UWAAAAAAAAH!”
I roared like an ogre.
As a 10-year veteran Farming World user with an SSS+ ability, I thought I wouldn’t find many things to genuinely get excited about anymore.
But discovering that holy power is the key to purifying chaos energy, and that chaos energy is the same as the demonic energy from the Level 10 biome in the Farming World, made me feel like I’d found an incredible shortcut.
Was it luck?
It could be luck.
Even my thought about the Demon Realm might have been a desperate attempt to find a way to cut down the Corrupted Tree with the means I had available.
The fact that I happened to have holy water might have been an answer to my prayer for an easy solution.
But everything aligned perfectly.
My thorough preparation.
The employee’s suggestion to reach 10 billion, which might have been just a sales pitch.
The holy water that was either a genuine gift or a bribe for future business.
All these pieces fit together like a puzzle, giving me all the rewards I wanted at once, making me feel elated and naturally letting out a cheer.
And the biggest gain was finding a relatively easy way to deal with the chaos energy, which is central to Main Quest 2.
“Time for rewards.”
There are so many quest rewards that I don’t know where to start.
Let’s handle what’s right in front of me first.
Like with the sewer situation.
That was the order I’d established over my 10 years in the Farming World.
I was about to butcher the Corrupted Ogre’s corpse, but…
In the middle of the wide clearing where the Corrupted Tree had evaporated, a box emitting a bright yellow light caught my attention.
“…Holy shit the fuck…”
A legendary grade box.
My feet moved toward the box as if enchanted.
