Ch.77Uljin

When a large number of people move at once, they’re bound to be noticed.
As the vampires began to move and prepare for battle, the humans responded by drawing their weapons.
If the humans had been given more time, the fight might not have even happened. However, they were now in a situation where they had abandoned their home in Busan and come all the way here.
The odds were in our favor.
The humans surely knew this too. The expressions on their distant faces were becoming tinged with despair. If we could eliminate all the humans here, I planned to continue down to Busan.
Just before the battle began.
Flutter-flutter!
“Tweet-tweet!”
A sparrow flew in from the sky. It was Aurel’s Jjak-jjak.
“Jjak-jjak!”
Aurel raised her hand to greet Jjak-jjak with delight. It seemed the sparrow had brought new information. However, Aurel didn’t get to receive the news.
BANG!
A sudden, loud gunshot rang out. A white flash streaked through the air and pierced through sparrow Jjak-jjak’s body. The next moment, Jjak-jjak was falling, spraying red blood.
“Jjak-jjak!!!”
Aurel screamed and rushed toward Jjak-jjak. The bird was still flapping its wings as it fell, so it seemed to be alive. As long as a vampire’s life wasn’t completely extinguished, they could be quickly revived with a blood transfusion. I drove Hwang-gu toward Aurel and Jjak-jjak.
“Jjak-jjak!”
Aurel was transfusing blood to the bloodied Jjak-jjak. Red blood flowed from her hands into Jjak-jjak’s body. The wound from the silver bullet looked difficult to heal. Aurel seemed to realize this too, as she bit her lip and absorbed Jjak-jjak into her body.
A red aura began to flow around Aurel’s body. She was becoming angry about what had happened to her subordinate. As her eyes turned red and began to sparkle, a red aura enveloped her hands and feet.
She looked ready to leap at the humans if I gave permission. I grabbed Aurel’s shoulder.
“Aurel.”
“Charlotte!”
“Let’s go.”
There was no need to hold back. We had gathered to fight humans anyway. Not fighting in such an advantageous situation would be a foolish choice.
“Attack!!!”
I shouted to the vampires with Aurel on my back. As if they had been waiting for this signal, the vampires immediately charged forward with battle cries.
“Hyaaaah!”
“Kill them all!”
“Hehehehehe!”
The vampires’ eyes were filled with excitement as they looked at the humans. They were thoroughly excited by the smell of human blood.
“K-kill them!”
“Block them! Don’t let them through!”
“Hold on! Don’t retreat!”
At the same time, the humans began their counterattack. Countless white flashes shot out. The charging vampires’ arms and legs were severed. Blood poured from torn skin, forming rivers. But the vampires didn’t stop. Vampires are monsters that can move as long as their hearts are beating, even with severed limbs. Even if their heads were cut off, they could be reattached and regenerated.
“Let’s go!”
I pulled on Hwang-gu’s leash to direct her. Hwang-gu immediately began running forward. As her powerful hind legs kicked off the ground, blue lightning sparked and space itself began to stretch.
SWOOSH!
The wind spread like a sharp blade. The surrounding sounds stretched endlessly, and in the blink of an eye, Hwang-gu had reached deep into the human camp.
BOOM! KABOOM!
As if belatedly responding to Hwang-gu’s movement, bombs exploded. The humans’ gazes followed the chain of explosions. Humans were everywhere, to the sides and behind us. I smelled the blood and gunpowder in the air and released my subordinates.
“Come out!”
At my command, 200 girls poured out from the shadows. The white, soft girls swung their weapons and arms as soon as they spotted humans.
“Die!”
“Hayah!”
“Hiyah!”
At that moment, a white flash shot out and pierced through one girl’s chest.
THUD!
“Eek!”
The girl tumbled backward with a scream. I looked in shock toward the direction the sniper shot had come from.
“Hwang-gu!”
“Woof!”
“Please!”
The only one who could quickly and accurately deal with the snipers was Hwang-gu. I jumped off Hwang-gu’s back with Aurel and spoke. Hwang-gu immediately nodded and ignited blue lightning.
BANG!
The moment Hwang-gu’s hind legs kicked off the ground, her body instantly disappeared.
As the battle dragged on, the casualties on both sides increased tremendously. Looking around, there were corpses everywhere. Red blood flowed like a sea, and gunshots rang out like lightning from all directions.
BANG!
A sniper shot came from my blind spot. It hit me squarely in the back, bursting my skin and causing red blood to pour out.
“Ugh…”
A groan naturally escaped my lips. But I didn’t worry about it. Humans were everywhere around me. I could quickly regenerate by capturing them and absorbing their blood. I grabbed a fallen human’s head and sucked their blood.
“Guh, gack… kek…”
The human instantly withered and twisted. It was a bit disgusting to suck a man’s blood, but I wasn’t in a position to be picky about food. The humans’ resistance was fierce. They probably knew that abandoning this defensive line and fleeing would lead to a quicker death.
FLAP!
I charged toward the humans, flapping the black wings that had sprouted from my back. Immediately after, a barrage of bullets began raining down on me. While protecting my body using shadows, I swung my hand toward the humans.
“ROAR!”
A giant shadow beast immediately emerged. With an unstable form, it opened its huge mouth toward the humans and devoured everything. After dealing with another group of humans and turning around, there was a “pop” sound, and my vision collapsed.
My body naturally began to stagger. My legs lost strength, but my collapsed vision quickly recovered. It seemed my head had been blown off by a sniper shot.
The reason for such rapid regeneration was thanks to my subordinates. I looked down at my feet.
“Are you okay?”
Yeppi, who had half-emerged from the shadows, tilted her head. She was using potions to help me.
I answered with a smile and glared in the direction the sniper shot had come from. Another white flash came flying. Since I was watching with my mystic eye this time, I could predict the direction of the attack.
As I slightly tilted my head, the sniper’s bullet whizzed past me. The bullet that passed by my body destroyed the remains of a large building behind me before disappearing.
The gunshots from all directions were becoming less frequent. It meant the number of humans was decreasing. However, an enormous number of vampires had also died.
I was worried about Aurel and Hwang-gu, but I couldn’t move to find them. I used the skill of the Lightning Glove, a new item I had acquired along with Gorgon.
RUMBLE!
As blue lightning from the sky enveloped my body, my stats instantly increased. Wrapped in blue lightning, I moved my wings and charged toward the sniper.
BOOM!
I was incomparably faster than before. But the duration was only about 20 seconds. I needed to deal with as many humans as possible within that time.
RUMBLE!
Blue afterimages stretched behind my rapidly moving body. I arrived like a flash at the rooftop of an abandoned building. The sniper seemed unaware of my approach, maintaining a prone position on the floor. Judging by the moving gun barrel, he was looking for me who had suddenly disappeared. I approached and crushed his head under my foot.
CRUNCH!
It felt like crushing a large watermelon. While absorbing the human’s blood using shadows, I looked down at the overall battlefield situation. The humans were making their last stand in front of the Safety Zone in Uljin. They seemed to be moving as if ready to enter it at any moment, suggesting they had figured out what that space was.
I could also spot Hwang-gu and Aurel there. The two girls looked at the humans, tilted their heads, and then entered the Safety Zone through another entrance. Then they began picking up easily available debris like abandoned cars and building rubble and throwing them at the entrance where the humans were holding out. With the entrance blocked, the humans could no longer enter the Safety Zone.
With their escape route cut off, the humans resisted more fiercely in a final struggle, but they couldn’t hold back the swarming vampires. And so the battle ended.
I flew down from the high-rise building using my wings, and Aurel and Hwang-gu came running. I hugged the two girls and assessed the vampires’ situation.
Initially, about 1,200 vampires had come down here together. But now only about 700 remained. Sixty of my children had also died. Compared to most of the humans being dead or having fled, it could be called a great victory, but it seemed impossible to head down to Busan with this number of people.
One of the vampire leaders had also died. It was Shakara, who had seemed the least likely to die because he was so cowardly. In the end, Shakara’s clan was divided between Firin and Prix to manage.
“Charlotte!”
“What?”
While I was assessing the number of humans we had captured, Aurel approached and spoke. In her hand sat sparrow Jjak-jjak, who looked healthy as if fully recovered from the sniper wound.
“Jjak-jjak has something to say!”
“Tweet-tweet!”
At Aurel’s words, sparrow Jjak-jjak began chirping.
“Tweet! Tweeeeet! Tweet-tweet!”
Jjak-jjak flapped its wings as if trying to convey something, but it wasn’t in a language I could understand. I looked at Aurel and said:
“What is it saying?”
“The werewolves have split up!”
“Split up…?”
“Yes!”
This was unexpected news about a sudden division. What happened to Mulbitbaram?
“So the werewolves can’t move?”
“Yes! They’re fighting among themselves, so it seems they can’t help us!”
“Hah…”
I let out a deep sigh. If only the werewolves had joined us, we could have pushed down to Busan and driven out all the remaining humans… It seemed I needed to check what had happened to the werewolves first.
