    Ch.70EP 2 Gorgon

The sun that had suddenly appeared began to vanish just as abruptly.

The sunlight slowly retreated as darkness gradually approached.

The night sky returned, and the pale moonlight began to rise.

    “Ughhhh…”

    I glanced behind me.

Smooch was sitting on the ground, clutching her head and groaning.

She seemed to be feeling her mind continuously changing.

In that state, she couldn’t fight alongside me.

I put Smooch into my shadow.

Instructor Yeppi, who would properly train the newcomers, would welcome Smooch inside the shadow.

Night’s return meant vampires who had hidden from the sun would return.

The battlefield would once again favor the vampires.

The moment the world’s light completely disappeared, I stepped outside.

I didn’t feel the burning pain like before.

    Thud-! Thud-! Thud-!

I’d dealt with the most dangerous element. Now all that remained was eliminating the Gorgon.

The massive footsteps approaching from the distance were getting closer.

    [Kuwooooooo!]

A giant bull’s roar echoed high in the sky.

The slowly drifting clouds disappeared as if torn apart.

Under the open sky, the pale moon illuminated the Gorgon, revealing its form completely.

A massive body with writhing muscles.

Its mouth was drenched in red blood.

If left alone, my kind would suffer severe casualties.

Judging by the lengthening intervals between gunshots around us, it seemed the human cleanup was mostly finished.

I needed to deal with it before the effects of the doping potion I’d absorbed from Smooch wore off.

I kicked the ground with all my might.

    Boom-!

The asphalt road exploded beneath my feet, launching me upward.

Black wings spread behind my back, controlling my speed and direction.

I was faster than usual. Yet I realized I could go even faster.

If these potions had been used by all humans, this battle would have ended in human victory.

I wondered why they hadn’t used them.

Though I had mountains of questions to ask Smooch, dealing with the Gorgon was the urgent priority.

As I closed the distance with the Gorgon, I drew my white bone sword and swung it toward the creature.

The slash carried incomparable power compared to before.

    Tsuggagagak-!

A sound like grinding through thick steel plates erupted.

It wasn’t far from reality. The Gorgon’s skin boasted that level of hardness.

    [Kwuaaah!]

The Gorgon hit by my attack began thrashing its body.

Its massive form was enough to devastate the surroundings with just its movement.

The asphalt road beneath its feet cracked and the ground began to collapse.

    Kak!

I plunged my sword deep into the Gorgon’s body to maintain balance against its thrashing movements.

At that moment, the Gorgon’s head twisted dramatically as it began staring at me on its back.

Though I wondered how such movement was possible, remembering that this creature wasn’t an ordinary bull but a monster made the movement somewhat comprehensible.

    [Kuaaaak!]

It sounded less like a bull’s cry and more like a lion’s or tiger’s roar.

I withstood the shockwave that erupted with the roar and tumbled off the Gorgon’s back.

    Flutter-!

I quickly spread my wings to regain balance, but couldn’t avoid the Gorgon’s follow-up attack.

    Thud-!

A whip-like attack from its massive tail.

But the impact was incomparable to a whip.

The tail was thicker than an adult man’s waist. Combined with steel-like hardness, the impact was enough to turn my insides upside down.

    Urgh-!

Blood rushed up and burst from my mouth.

My body lost balance and crashed to the ground.

    Kwagaggang-!

My body stretched out, grinding against the road as it slowed down.

It was painful but not unbearable.

Of course, this was only possible because the effects of the doping potion I’d absorbed from Smooch still remained.

I got up and ran quickly.

The Gorgon’s thundering footsteps followed behind me.

    I’d achieved my initial goal.

No more casualties would occur among my kind.

    Bang-!

The occasional gunshots had grown faint.

At that moment, vampires who had roughly assessed the situation began pouring attacks toward the Gorgon.

A fireball burning as hot as a small sun rose high in the sky.

Looking below, I saw a small girl standing on top of a large building with her hand raised high.

Blood was streaming down her face.

Her right arm was nowhere to be seen.

These wounds showed how difficult the fight against humans had been.

The girl who appeared was Firin.

Shortly after Firin revealed herself, those who appeared to be her clan members appeared behind her.

    Whoosh-!

Numerous spells began pouring toward the Gorgon.

The dark night sky brightened with brilliant lights.

At that moment, a small shadow shot up from beyond a building.

As the shadow crossed the brightly lit sky, its form was fully revealed.

A wolf covered in red fur.

    It was Hwang-gu.

Aurel was riding on Hwang-gu’s back.

They both looked unharmed, as if they hadn’t been beaten up somewhere.

    Boom-! Boom-!

At that moment, a massive force crashed down on my body.

The Gorgon unleashed merciless attacks as if unwilling to forgive me for being distracted.

I heard Aurel’s scream from the sky, but had no time to respond.

    “Kugh!”

A stomping attack using its heavy weight.

Even though I protected myself with shadows, I couldn’t fully withstand the force.

The pressure in my body rose instantly, causing blood to burst from every orifice.

    I couldn’t handle it alone.

    But.

    “Grrrr…!”

    Ssssk-

The shadows began moving according to my will.

At that moment, white girls appeared from the shadows and began pushing against the Gorgon’s foot together.

    [Kuooo?]

The Gorgon lowered its head as if unable to understand why its strength was being pushed back.

At that moment, Yeppi jumped out and stabbed her sword into the Gorgon’s eyeball.

    “Hiyah!”

    [Kuoogh!]

The strength of subordinates isn’t much different from ordinary vampires. This meant her attack couldn’t deliver significant damage.

But it was enough to startle the Gorgon and throw off its balance momentarily.

    “Push!”

    -Hieeeek!

    -Hiyaaah!

    -Hayaaah!

The moment my command ended, the girls lifted the Gorgon with all their might.

Their faces turned red and veins bulged on their soft arms.

As my body emerged from being buried underground.

I kicked the ground and threw the Gorgon’s massive body.

    [Kuwooogh!]

The Gorgon retreated backward with a roar like a scream.

I couldn’t knock it over, but I realized that with the girls’ help, we could withstand the Gorgon’s strength.

I pointed my sword at the bull standing with a bewildered expression.

    “Charlotte!”

    “Charlotte!”

At that moment, I heard Aurel and Hwang-gu calling.

The two girls were clinging to the Gorgon’s back, swinging their fists wildly.

Though they looked cute at a glance, each time their fists flew, the Gorgon’s back caved in and blood splattered.

Seeing Aurel and Hwang-gu reminded me of the Berserk Potions buried in my shadow.

They were cash items confiscated from Smooch’s possessions.

    Only two bottles remained.

Though drinking it lowered defense, it could be tremendously effective if the Gorgon’s aggro wasn’t lost.

I took out two Berserk Potions from my shadow and threw them into the sky.

The small glass bottles flew precisely toward Aurel and Hwang-gu.

At that moment, the Gorgon began to rampage.

    [Kuwooogh!]

The Gorgon began stomping everywhere while swinging its tail.

Its foot-stomping looked like preparation for a charge.

    I frowned at the sight.

Due to the Gorgon’s thrashing, the Berserk Potions flying toward the two girls were now too far away.

At this rate, they’d miss. Just as I was about to shout—

A small shadow shot down from the sky.

    -Chirp chirp!

The chirping of a sparrow, out of place in the urgent battle.

    It was Jjak-jjak, Aurel’s subordinate.

He moved his small wings relentlessly, grabbing the glass bottle larger than his body with his front paws.

Then Jjak-jjak flew to Aurel and Hwang-gu.

Thanks to Jjak-jjak, Aurel and Hwang-gu were able to receive the Berserk Potions.

    No further explanation was necessary.

    The two girls were quick-witted.

At that moment, the Gorgon began its charge.

    Thud-! Boom-! Boom-! Boom-!

As the Gorgon’s massive feet kicked the ground, a rough sandstorm erupted behind it.

A wide-area attack using its massive body.

Standing before it, I felt pressure incomparable to before.

The space itself was dominated by the creature. Its charging speed would be faster than my escape speed.

    I had to stand firm.

    Boom-!

The moment my thought ended, the Gorgon’s massive horns flew toward me.

My legs spread wider than shoulder width.

At that moment, my thigh muscles expanded greatly.

All the muscles hidden in my soft body rose firmly.

    Then my arms moved forward.

    Kwang-!

The moment my seemingly fragile arms collided with the massive horns, shadows spread behind my back.

White girls began to appear from within.

I drove the shadows deep into the ground to prevent being pushed back.

But being pushed back was inevitable.

    Boom-!

    “Kack…!”

    -Keeeeek!

    -Block iiiit!

    -Hiyaaah!

A chilling sound came from my hands where they met the massive horns.

Broken bones pierced through the skin.

But at the same time, my body began regenerating.

The girls weren’t in normal condition either.

The impact transmitted through my body caused about ten girls to explode in fountains of red blood.

Before I could feel the loss of the girls’ deaths, a second impact came.

    Boom-!

The ground beneath me flipped and my body was pushed back.

I gritted my teeth. If I just stood here, I’d be crushed to a bloody pulp.

I bit my lip and summoned all my strength.

    Standing firm wasn’t the answer.

I needed to remove these horns transmitting the force somehow.

    “Hiyah!”

I struck down on the giant bull’s horns with all my might.

    Thud-!

At that moment, my body began to be pushed back faster.

This was the natural result of using the strength I’d been using to endure for an attack instead.

    -Hieeeek!

    -Cha, Charlotte!

    -Hiyaaak!

    I heard the girls’ screams.

The girls collapsed one by one, as if unable to endure any longer.

    Thud-!

    “Hiyah!”

I struck the bull’s horns once more.

But the Gorgon’s horns seemed to have strength beyond imagination.

Despite striking down hard enough to shred my arms, the horns looked intact.

    And at that moment.

A red girl fell from the sky.

The girl with red energy surging all over her body was Hwang-gu.

She struck the Gorgon’s horns as she appeared.

    Crack-!

    The Gorgon’s horn broke.
