Chapter 6. George (1)
The next day began a series of identical days.
Kanto would go out with the warriors to earn points, Paya would talk to me and occasionally oil my body, and overall, they were boring days with nothing special.
I had no choice but to do ‘that.’
With this body, there was only one thing I could do—the community.
Of course, I didn’t focus on recent posts.
[MeleeSpy: I know I’m whining and it’s annoying
“If you’re told not to do it, don’t do it” – I posted the exact same content at the same time 2 months ago. The post is completely identical, but back then it got 0 comments and was buried. Why does that one have over 20 comments? Sorry for complaining, but I’m already depressed from personal issues, and seeing this makes me feel so wronged. Nothing ever goes right for me. I was so angry I farted, pooped, and threw up.]
With garbage like this being posted every day, I lost all desire to read.
And there’s MeleeSpy writing nonsense again. I’ve even memorized the username now.
In the end, what I wanted to see were the early posts with more substantial information.
[Godori: What date was it for you guys before coming here? For me it was xx/xx/201x.]
ㄴ [Onebulls: What? It’s 202x now? Who are you?]
ㄴ [Godori: Whoa]
So everyone came from different time periods. That’s new information.
There were many good posts, but the person providing the highest quality information was George.
He was a former US Marine (according to himself) who explained the reality of their situation to newbies who were confused after being dropped into this world.
[George: Sharing information
If your level is still low, live in the mountains. I’ve confirmed that demons and demon worshippers don’t climb mountains unless they have specific business there.
They strictly use civilized places as their bases. More precisely, they seem uninterested in natural spaces. Anyway, if you find artificial structures, assume demons are present and act accordingly.
Infected creatures move in groups, but they’re unintelligent and weak. Hunt them and gain experience.
Mutants or infected aren’t their minions, but rather beings created by their demonic energy. They’re creatures that came into existence by chance.
So don’t be afraid even if there are many infected. Demons or worshippers won’t come looking for you if you kill them.
Just be careful of the round creatures floating in the sky. They’re called ‘Demon’s Eye.’ These strange one-eyed beings are truly the demons’ minions.
If you must pass through an area where one exists, kill it with a blow to the back of its head.
Even in the game, you needed to be at least level 3 to not be treated as a newbie. Build your strength by hunting infected until you reach at least level 3.]
[George: What you can eat
You’re probably wondering what you can eat to survive here. I’ll give you some information about edible things.
The mushrooms with antenna-like appendages are edible. Yes, those red mushrooms commonly found in the mountains. They don’t taste great, but they’re very nutritious.
However, you must remove the antennae and boil them thoroughly before eating. The antennae contain substances that cause hallucinations and paralysis, which can be dangerous.
If you eat them before sleeping, you might never wake up again.
As for infected creatures, I’ve seen many people refuse to eat them because of their green blood, thinking they’re unclean. However, most animals, including infected ones, are safe to eat if cooked properly.
The green blood is blood corrupted by demonic energy, but this doesn’t significantly affect us paladins. Don’t worry too much.
Purple fruits growing on trees are also edible. These don’t need to be cooked or boiled—you can eat them as they are. Just make sure to remove the seeds. Eating too many seeds could cause stomach problems.
A healthy mind dwells in a healthy body. Let’s eat well.]
Unlike recent posts, this one was packed with quality information.
Most of it wasn’t useful for me in my totem state, but it was good information to pass on to the barbarians while pretending to be a god.
With various thoughts in mind, I read George’s next post. This one came after a longer gap, as if he had been busy.
[George: I’ve dealt with the demon and worshippers occupying a village.
It’s a shame this community doesn’t allow photo attachments.
My current level is 5. I’ve learned five skills.
I’ve eliminated 65 demon worshippers and one demon.
It was a lesser demon that looked like a mix between a bird and a reptile. Cockatrice? Something like that. The corpse turned to ash, like a vampire.
The village name is Primson. From today, I plan to use this place as a base or strategic stronghold.
This is important, so I’ll write at length.
I found five paladin helmets in Primson village. All were blood-soaked and dented.
Let me state this clearly: other paladins besides us exist in this world.
A user previously asked whether we all fell into the same world or into similar parallel worlds.
Now we have a chance to find out. If you can, come to Primson village and join me.
I’ll hang a red flag at the village entrance for identification.]
Ah, I was curious about this too.
The comment section was on fire.
Many were excited about George being the first to fight and win against an entire village, but many were also thrilled at the possibility that we might all be in the same world.
Though not everyone was enthusiastic.
[MeleeSpy: But what will you do when you meet?
“Ah… you must be the LolliDiceKey Paladin. Hello?”
“Are you the WhooopsFartedDiarrhea Paladin?”
“I see. Shall we wait for the GirlsCanDoAnythingPang Paladin?”
Is that how it’s supposed to work???
What are you going to do by gathering without a clear vision?
Speaking as a level 999 paladin in the game.
You’ll just become targets for demons, so just live quietly by yourself.]
MeleeSpy… so he’d been around since the beginning. Of course, this post received countless negative comments.
[GustaveBro: Aren’t you being too negative? If you don’t like it, don’t go. Most people won’t be able to find maps anyway, and even if they do, most maps will be useless.]
[Doron: Your level is obvious just from reading your post. Were you a jobless shut-in who only played games on Earth?]
[FullPlay: It’s better to gather and fight together than to camp alone in the mountains. We can set up watches and build walls around the village. I think gathering is clearly better.]
[Godori: Right. It could be a demon’s trap. We should consider the possibility that a demon wrote the post to lure us.]
ㄴ [FullPlay: How could a demon write in the community when only paladins can use it?]
ㄴ [Godori: They could manipulate corpses, brainwash people…]
ㄴ [FullPlay: That’s just speculation. Demons couldn’t do that even in the game.]
[Spotty: Shut up, you MeleeSpy bastard]
Anyway, the community was buzzing with the big issue George had raised, and eventually someone who had somehow obtained a map managed to find Primson village.
[PumoFumo: I’ve arrived at Primson village
No signs of life. I can see the red flag at the entrance.
Oh, I’m so nervous. If I don’t write anything for the next 10 minutes, assume I’m dead and that George was lying.
I’m going in now! Wish me luck!]
The next post was written by George and PumoFumo together.
[George: PumoFumo has joined
Currently having a meal together.]
[PumoFumo: What? It’s real???
I’m eating mushroom soup right now. Made from those antenna mushrooms George mentioned before.
George is a Westerner with good physique. Well, all paladins are Westerners, but anyway.
Anyway, it’s real, so come join if you want. We have plenty of food.]
Oh. OH!!!
So it really was the same world! I wasn’t the only one who got possessed into this cursed game!
This was incredibly comforting news. I wasn’t thrown into this terrible world alone.
Someday I might be able to meet other Earth people too.
I’m a bit afraid of what they’ll think when they see me, but at least there’s a possibility.
With a bit more hope for survival, I continued browsing through the posts.
Quite a few people joined George’s base in Primson village. It seemed like almost all the paladins living nearby had come.
The total number of people gathered was five.
[George: Maybe this is the function of the community
To help us gather together.
Everyone waking up in caves was like a tutorial in the game, testing whether we could survive in this environment, and once we’ve adapted to some extent, the community helps us unite.
I’ve been thinking with many people about how we can return to Earth.
It’s clear that simply surviving won’t be enough to clear this game.
Why did the game company send us here? Why did they add strange functions like the community to our status windows?
I believe that to clear the game, we need to drive the demons out of this land.
That’s right. It’s something that can never be done alone. That’s why they added the community function.
We need to gather. Gather and defeat powerful demons that can’t be taken down alone.
That’s how everyone can go home.
You don’t have to join my group specifically. But I think forming groups is essential.
From now on, my group will act as a raid team. We’ll find other villages and deal with demons and worshippers.
I’ll share information gathered with my companions in the community.
If you have a map and are thinking of joining, send me a private message.]
So you can send private messages too. There are still many functions I don’t know about. It would be nice if there was a community manual. Too bad.
Anyway, George formed a raid team and recruited members.
[George: Our raid team has decided to target the neighboring village
The village name is Janson. It’s similar in size to Primson, so we don’t expect any major threats.]
