Ch.6666. SSS+ Rank Farmer Hunter Opens a YouTube Channel
by fnovelpia
“Oppa.”
“What?”
“You know that YouTube channel I made? I’m about to upload a video, what do you think of the channel name?”
Now that the auction was over, I planned to log in and go shopping for items to hunt ogres.
While searching the Hunter Association for decent items and browsing what was available at the department store, Kim Sujeong came over and thrust her tablet in front of me.
There was one video ready to upload and an empty YouTube channel.
[SSS+ Rank Farmer Hunter]
That was the channel name.
“What do you think? Pretty good, right?”
“Hmm…”
There’s only one reason I’m creating a YouTube channel.
Attention.
Of course, making money through that attention is also one of my secondary goals, but as a hunter who’s acquired the only SSS+ rank ability in existence, isn’t it reasonable to show off to the world and receive some recognition?
That might sound immature.
But it’s not simply an immature thought, as evidenced by the top-tier hunters who already have countless YouTube subscribers.
They too gather subscribers by boasting about being among the few S-rank or SS-rank hunters.
They film themselves clearing dungeons, showing off how they spend money and collect hunter items.
Why shouldn’t I do the same?
If anything, I could earn more money and build recognition this way.
In that sense, including “SSS+” in the name wasn’t a bad idea.
A channel name is essentially my business card.
How will I introduce myself to people?
The easiest and quickest way is through the eye-catching, instantly memorable, one-of-a-kind SSS+ rank.
Though this is basically announcing to the whole world that I have an SSS+ ability.
“You’re not going to reveal your status window anyway, right?”
“No, I won’t.”
Among hunters, this kind of channel naming is actually common.
Many people create channels claiming to be A-rank or S-rank even when they’re not, saying they named it that way to reflect their skill level. In an era where attracting attention is paramount, there’s no need to prove you’re SSS+ by revealing your status window.
That’s why I thought it was even better.
People will be curious.
They’ll click at least once out of curiosity about a hunter who opened a channel with the absurd name of SSS+.
They’ll watch the video highlights to see what kind of attention-grabbing nonsense I’m up to.
And then they’ll see it.
The power of an SSS+ skill.
Their curiosity will intensify.
Is it real?
They’ll be uncertain.
It clearly looks incredibly powerful, but without seeing my status window, there’s no way to confirm if it’s truly SSS+ or just S-rank or SS-rank, so they’ll keep coming back.
They’ll return just to verify whether I’m lying or if I’m genuinely SSS+.
Some will come back simply because they’re captivated by my spectacular combat.
Others might return for different reasons.
And I also liked “Farmer Hunter.”
It seemed to describe me perfectly.
A hunter who farms…
Well, Kim Sujeong is the one doing the actual farming, but that’s not important.
“For once, you came up with a decent name.”
“Okay, so we’re going with this? It just felt right.”
Kim Sujeong excitedly went to upload the video.
What video should we upload?
We already had several video sources.
Since I’d been planning to start a YouTube channel since my last login, I’d purchased and been wearing a hunter-specific YouTube body cam.
I’d recorded the goblin village extermination operation and farming in the Corrupted Forest.
The actual combat was very brief, with most footage showing farming activities.
I’d trust her to handle it since she said she would, but I couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy.
“Are you doing the editing?”
“Oppa, I barely have time to farm. Nighttime is my only rest period—how could I edit then? Besides, I don’t have that kind of talent. Don’t worry, I’m recruiting an expert in this field.”
Well, that’s a relief.
By evening, Kim Sujeong brought over an edited video.
“I’m going to upload this, take a look first.”
The video showed a familiar riverbank.
A rather wide river.
I immediately recognized when it was filmed.
When we set out to find the goblin village.
It was footage of crossing the river to hunt the goblins we encountered while heading toward the sewer.
“This is good.”
I thought it wasn’t bad for a first video, since it captured a moment of realization for me.
Crossing the river with Leap Slash was a thrilling experience even in retrospect.
The first-person perspective video begins with the river appearing to narrow as I approach.
Stepping on water, then leaping again.
Another leap.
Even on video, it looks impressive how I cross the river in an instant and cut down five goblins before they can even register surprise.
And it’s not just showing them getting slashed and falling.
I swing my sword.
The world stops.
And as I withdraw my sword, time flows again, accompanied by a glass-shattering sound effect as the goblins collapse—it’s spectacularly cinematic.
“What do you think? Killer, right?”
“Did you make a movie or something?”
Obviously, [Leap Slash] doesn’t come with these cool sound effect options.
They were added to the video, but it felt so natural that even I, who experienced it firsthand, could barely tell the difference. Viewers would likely mistake it for the actual skill sound.
Then comes the slaughter.
Fleeing goblins and a hunter pursuing them leisurely.
The footage shows me chasing the one goblin out of three that’s heading directly toward the village, then muttering “Found it…” as I watch the goblin enter the village.
The video ends as I enter the village.
The three-minute video left a deep impression.
“Well made.”
“Right? My friend is a sub-editor for a hunter YouTuber with 12 million subscribers. What do you think? Good, right?”
“It’s good, but will they help us?”
“Don’t worry about that, Oppa. My friend is ambitious too. She’s been complaining to me about not liking her current channel, so I’m trying to lure her away. We can pay her much more than they do.”
The Farming Company has more than enough operating funds anyway.
Just 10% of the 35 billion won armor piece we sold comes to 3.5 billion.
That’s enough to pay an editor’s salary for years.
“Then I’ll try to recruit her. If we’re doing YouTube, it’s better to have a professional editor.”
“Sure.”
Kim Sujeong immediately left the house while calling her friend.
——————
Yoon Hyunji is Kim Sujeong’s friend and a sub-editor for a hunter YouTube channel with 12 million subscribers.
Though called a sub-editor, a YouTube channel with 12 million subscribers is essentially a company, with an editing team of over 10 people, and she doesn’t hold a major position.
She creates the framework for edits, and then the main editor reviews and provides feedback.
If it passes, the video gets uploaded.
Though technically a freelancer, it’s essentially no different from being an employee.
Employees at least get insurance benefits, but here she could be fired on any pretext without even that security.
Of course, the pay is better than what editors at other channels get.
Due to the nature of hunter channels, dungeon videos are quite long, requiring both extensive and concise editing. They often split content into multiple shorter videos and need to make the dungeon-clearing process engaging by creating a narrative.
The problem is that it’s not the right place for Yoon Hyunji.
“Hyunji, I told you not to over-edit, right? It doesn’t match our channel concept.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It seems like you’re trying to cut things your own way, but if you want to edit in your style, go somewhere else.”
“I’ll fix it. I’m sorry.”
Yoon Hyunji became a video editor for a simple reason.
She just thought hunters looked cool.
Like fantasy movies, the sight of people wielding swords and casting magic had a spectacular quality you couldn’t see in real life.
She wanted to enhance that beauty through video editing, making viewers feel like they were watching a movie.
Somehow, with talent and skill, she made it to this channel, but without money, she couldn’t afford to move to another channel that matched her vision.
“What do you think, Hyunji? I might be able to grant your wish.”
“Is this really… your brother?”
“Yes. This is actually a secret, but my brother is an SSS+ rank hunter.”
“…? It’s written right in the channel name.”
“Oh, right. Anyway, isn’t he exactly the kind of hunter you want?”
“He is…”
A sudden proposal from her longtime friend Kim Sujeong.
Before explaining the details, she sent a video and asked Hyunji to try editing it.
Yoon Hyunji had fun editing it.
Since editing had become just a job, especially since joining this channel, she hadn’t found it enjoyable.
But receiving footage that perfectly matched her ideal hunter image, ideas for editing and effects flooded her mind from the moment she saw it.
“But isn’t it too much? Is it okay to upload it like this?”
“It’s perfect. My brother has a bit of chuunibyou, you know? He says it’s fine, but he actually loves this kind of reaction. It’s not like we’re making up things that aren’t there—we’re just embellishing what is there, so what’s the problem?”
“So… you want me to help as a sub-editor?”
She liked the idea.
But Yoon Hyunji was a 23-year-old working professional.
She couldn’t ignore the practical aspects.
Seeing her dejected expression, Kim Sujeong checked her phone.
[Deposit: 5,000,000 won]
“…Huh?”
“I told you, my brother is an SSS+ rank hunter. If we were just looking for a sub-editor, I wouldn’t have come to you like this. Hyunji, I want you to join our Farming Company and become the editing director for my brother’s YouTube channel. We’ll pay you generously.”
Yoon Hyunji didn’t respond but sent a message to someone.
“What are you doing?”
“Oh, I’m sending my resignation.”
The YouTube channel had found its editor.
