Ch.64Potion City, Shahelm (3)

“Well. I’m not sure if this is right, but this is all that was left in the carriage.”

I took out a container and two potions from my spatial storage and showed them to Manager Orca.

“Hmm… Let me see… This box is indeed from our company, but wait a moment…”

After examining the box carefully, Orca soon pulled out a long rod from his pocket.

The long rod, which looked like a key with its end cut off, transformed when inserted into the box’s lock, unlocking it. Only then did I realize it was a magical key.

As I stared intently at the key, Orca grinned and said:

“It’s part of the company’s security system. It has magical mechanisms that prevent thieves from using it carelessly.”

“I see. So, what about the contents?”

    “Hmm…”

Orca’s eyes narrowed as he examined the contents.

But judging by his expression, which wasn’t one of suspicion, we had succeeded in giving him what he wanted.

“This is undoubtedly the formula we need. Exactly what we wanted. And you even brought a physical sample, not to mention taking down an ogre. Well done. Let me see your request form.”

I handed him the form, and soon it was returned to me with a completion stamp.

“What about the letter of recommendation?”

“Wait just a moment. I’ll write it right away.”

Saying that, Orca sat at his desk, took out some elegant paper, and began scribbling. Soon, he placed it in an envelope, sealed it, and handed it to me.

“Here’s your letter of recommendation. It’s for the largest hospital in Shahelm. That hospital has previously treated patients suffering from the side effects of Fungyuhwan, like that…”

    “Raisha.”

“Yes, Raisha. So you shouldn’t worry too much.”

    “I see.”

I received the recommendation letter and handed it to Raisha, who was looking at me with an expectant expression.

“You should go to the hospital first. I’ll stop by the Adventurer’s Guild to collect our payment and then join you at the hospital.”

    “Ah, yes!”

She took the recommendation letter from me with trembling hands and soon left, leading her massive body outside.

While it was someone else’s business to me, it was her own matter, so I didn’t consider her actions rude.

Whether it’s a craving for food or a desire for beauty, human desires ultimately make one disregard others’ gazes.

“Well then. I’ll see you next time, Manager Orca.”

“Indeed. Adventurers like you are always welcome.”

After bidding farewell to Orca, I left the Posha Pharmaceutical Company branch and began riding Spotty through the streets to resolve the issues that needed handling.

    *

“My goodness, did you hunt an ogre?”

    “Yes.”

    “Oh.”

First, I stopped by the blacksmith to repair my torn double mail.

My double mail, severely damaged by the ogre, was torn in several places and badly deformed, making it unwearable.

“I’d like to have it repaired.”

“Hmm… I’m sorry, sir, but this can’t be repaired. It’s possible, but considering the effort and cost, I wouldn’t recommend it.”

“Then do you have any other armor you’d recommend?”

    “How about a plate coat?”

“A plate coat, huh? Could you use the coat I’m wearing as material to make one?”

I took off my coat, ivory on the outside and burgundy on the inside, and showed it to the blacksmith.

“That’s certainly possible. You seem to still be growing, so come here and let me take your measurements.”

    “Alright.”

I moved as the blacksmith instructed, allowing him to take my measurements, and in the process, I learned my current height.

    “Hmm… 171cm.”

    “171cm?”

    “Is there a problem?”

“No, I’m just surprised I’ve grown so much.”

“Well, at your age, you’d grow even if you ate dirt.”

The blacksmith said this while carefully folding my coat and placing it in a box.

Seeing this, I recalled the recent battle and realized that the weapons I currently carried weren’t very effective.

“By the way, I’d also like to dispose of my weapons.”

“Sure. It’s no wonder, with all those things hanging on you.”

“I want to sell all my longsword and medium sword, and have you make me a large, long greatsword.”

    “A greatsword…”

Weight isn’t much of an issue for me.

I’ve carried water bottles many times and hauled hundreds of kilograms of materials all day at construction sites.

No matter how heavy a sword might be, it wouldn’t be heavier than construction rebar.

“Do you have any specific specifications in mind?”

    “Hmm…”

    Specific specs, huh.

I suddenly recalled the numerous weapons I had become familiar with while cleaning Parcival’s museum.

Among all the rare weapons on display, what caught my eye was a massive sword with a long, straight blade.

“…Can you make a greatsword with a blade about 2 meters long?”

“Did you hit your head while hunting that ogre?”

    “No, I’m fine.”

“Sigh… I can make it, but the specs you want would mean a weapon that won’t chip or get damaged from ordinary attacks, right?”

    “That’s right.”

“To do that, it would inevitably be heavy. It would weigh at least 10kg. You do know that most swords weigh between 3 and 6kg, right?”

“That’s fine. I’m confident in my strength, so please make it as sturdy as possible.”

“Tsk… I’ve made such things before and seen people who handle them easily, so I can’t really argue… I’ll take your money, so be it.”

“Of course. How much for that and the plate coat together?”

“300 silver coins. Not a coin less.”

“Does that include the sale price of my longsword and medium sword?”

“Ah… including those, I can do it for about 230 silver coins.”

    “Then that price it is.”

I took out 230 silver coins from my spatial storage and handed them to him. He swept the coins into a bag and said:

    “Where are you staying?”

    “At the One-Legged Captain’s Inn.”

“I’ll send someone there when it’s finished.”

    “I’ll be waiting.”

I left the blacksmith’s shop and headed for the Adventurer’s Guild.

    *

“Yes, we’ve confirmed the completion of your request. I’ll issue you 1 gold coin.”

Originally, the reward for this request wasn’t very large.

The reward of 100 silver coins was inflated to 1000 because we claimed the bounty for the ogre we killed.

Naturally, Posha Pharmaceutical Company’s carriage wasn’t the only one the ogre had destroyed; dozens of companies had already been immobilized by that ogre.

This meant the ogre needed to die before causing more massive losses, and we were lucky enough to eliminate it when there was a bounty on its head.

    “Not bad.”

As I left the Adventurer’s Guild, I recalled how I had worked for years, grinding my teeth, to earn a single gold coin like this.

Was money always this easy to earn?

It felt like my entire childhood was being negated, as if the sense of achievement and fulfillment I felt back then was being devoured by a worm with a collar of meaninglessness.

“Hmm. No, this isn’t the time for such thoughts.”

I shook off these musings and rode toward the hospital where Raisha would be.

Perhaps because my body was lighter, Spotty’s speed was remarkably fast, and I arrived at the hospital’s main entrance in less than an hour.

    Clunk… clunk…

I passed through the revolving door, whose purpose I couldn’t understand, entered the lobby, and approached the counter to ask about Raisha’s location.

“I’m looking for someone. Raisha Wayne… she has a recommendation letter from Posha Pharmaceutical Company.”

    “Please wait a moment.”

The nurse said this and began searching through files, eventually pulling out Raisha’s file and examining it carefully.

Seeing that it was marked as an important patient, it seemed the recommendation letter had been effective.

“What is your relationship to the patient?”

“I’m the party leader of the party she belongs to.”

“Then you have legal guardian authority. Please go to room 1034.”

Following the nurse’s directions, I climbed the stairs to room 1034.

The 1000-series rooms were private rooms, and judging by the various attendants visible in some rooms, they seemed to be occupied by wealthy individuals, nobles, or wealthy nobles.

I inwardly thought that Manager Orca’s recommendation letter had played a significant role, and opened the door to room 1034.

    Bang!

    “Ah… Mr. Victor…”

    “Hmm?”

Inside the room were a doctor, a nurse, and Raisha lying in a hospital gown (heavily modified to fit her body type).

She already had an IV in her wrist, receiving some unknown fluid, and the doctor and nurse sitting beside her looked at me, who had suddenly barged in.

    “Am I interrupting?”

    “Are you the patient’s guardian?”

    “I am.”

“We’ve just finished explaining things to the patient. Let’s talk outside.”

    I looked at Raisha.

“I’m fine, please go ahead and take care of your business.”

I nodded and followed the doctor and nurse to sit on chairs provided on the 10th floor, where I began to hear a detailed explanation of her condition.
