Ch.63[Episode 63] My Little Universe

“Come to think of it, I came to the Market Area to buy a bed.”

“You too? Now that there are two of us, I’m wondering if we should buy two beds.”

“After the event ends, everything will go back to normal, so wouldn’t two beds be excessive? Let’s buy one and share it.”

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica exchanged small talk as they emerged from the alley.

Though their personalities and tendencies differed slightly, they had become friends surprisingly quickly.

The fact that they were essentially the same person played a part, but they also felt a strange sense of kinship.

Sir Dominic, a knight of serf origin, had no other knights with whom he could speak comfortably.

He could speak freely with the squires who accompanied the knights, but the squires either openly avoided Sir Dominic or were too busy maintaining formalities, making casual conversation impossible.

Sir Dominica was somewhat better off, but for the same reasons, she found Sir Dominic comfortable to be around.

She had joined a combat nunnery from a young age and lived amidst the invisible power struggles among women.

It was a place where failing to detect hidden meanings in a single word would lead to elimination. That’s what the nunnery was like.

But Sir Dominic was someone who spoke his mind directly, and she had taken a liking to him for providing conversation that didn’t require unnecessary mental gymnastics.

“But in a way, we’re like guests to each other, so sharing a bed with the host would be impolite.”

“If we had lived the same life, we would have been happy just to have a fluffy pile of hay. Sharing a bed would be quite luxurious in comparison.”

    “Perhaps. Hmm?”

Sir Dominic heard what sounded like fighting while conversing with Sir Dominica.

Sir Dominica must have heard it too, as she turned her head and met Sir Dominic’s gaze.

Without a word, they headed toward the source of the sound.

Both were curious by nature, and they had personalities that made them restless if they couldn’t immediately resolve something.

“You there! Make way for the Demon Lord! Clear the path!”

“What! You dare block the rightful passage of the Duke and legitimate Hero! How insolent!”

Sir Dominic saw a crowd large enough to block the main road.

Everyone seemed to have come out to see what was happening.

    “Excuse me.”

    “Move aside for a moment.”

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica pushed through the crowd, squeezing their way in.

Finally reaching the front row, they saw familiar faces.

    “!”

    “!”

Sir Dominic saw the two-headed, soft Demon Lord Princess Teu Le Vante furrowing her brows at someone similar to herself.

On the opposite side was another two-headed, soft figure with blonde hair wearing a small crown and a furry red cape. With a sponge sword at the waist and riding a toy pony on wheels, this figure was glaring at Teu Le Vante.

Behind them, the Chief of Staff and an elderly man with a monocle were pointing fingers at each other, veins bulging in their necks as they hurled accusations.

“The Demon Lord is the most perfect being in the world, as proven by her cuteness!”

“How dare you discuss supreme cuteness without acknowledging the Duke! How shameless!”

Sir Dominic thought that the figures on the opposite side must be Teu Le Vante from a parallel world, appearing due to the event.

Though different in details when examined closely, they were clearly similar types to anyone looking.

Sir Dominica seemed to think the same, as she said to Sir Dominic:

“That’s Duke Po Le Zak and his administrator. A big shot who defeated three of the Four Mighty Kings by giving them heart attacks. He received his dukedom for that achievement.”

“Demon Lord Teu Le Vante. The one behind her is the Chief of Staff. There’s a story that the previous Demon Lord handed over the position because he couldn’t resist her cuteness.”

They exchanged the information they had.

Knowing that neither could resist their curiosity, the exchange of information happened quickly.

Meanwhile, Teu Le Vante walked with tiny steps and took out a tennis ball from her pocket.

Po Le Zak pulled his toy pony along with bouncy steps, gripping the scabbard and placing his hand on the sword handle.

The atmosphere was so tense that the watching crowd took a step back.

“Ha! Behold! Our Demon Lord has personally come to punish your rudeness!”

“It is the Duke who has decided your nonsense is no longer worth listening to!”

The Chief of Staff and the administrator were still engaged in childish bickering.

In this tense standoff, the Demon Lord made the first move.

With tennis balls in both hands, the Demon Lord glared at the Hero, then tossed the balls upward.

The Hero gripped the sword handle, tensing his entire body as if ready to strike in one motion.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica unconsciously swallowed in this small and cute yet not at all cute atmosphere.

Finally, the tennis balls stopped in mid-air and began to fall again.

And the situation came to an anticlimactic end.

    “!”

    “!”

The tennis balls landed precisely on the Demon Lord’s horns.

The Chief of Staff usually attached safety devices to the tips of the horns when going out to prevent people from getting hurt on the sharp points, but the Demon Lord had accomplished this feat all by herself.

The Demon Lord expressed a sense of achievement and confidence in her soft face, having accomplished something remarkable.

The slight flush on the Demon Lord’s cheeks revealed the sense of accomplishment from completing a truly difficult task.

The Hero’s eyes widened, and he began to applaud enthusiastically.

After clapping for a while, the Hero drew his sword.

However, it wasn’t a sword but a lollipop.

The Hero pulled his toy pony over to the Demon Lord and handed her the lollipop.

Taking the lollipop, the Demon Lord secretly wore a happy expression and hid it in her inventory away from the Chief of Staff’s sight.

    “!”

    “?”

Their higher-dimensional language was incomprehensible to people, but the atmosphere made it possible to guess.

The Demon Lord and the Hero approached each other and hugged warmly.

As if greeting a friend they hadn’t seen in a long time.

“Look! Our Demon Lord has moved the Hero! You’re finished!”

“No! It’s the opposite! Our Hero has purified the Demon Lord!”

The Chief of Staff and the administrator continued their childish fight.

“I have no idea what’s going on here.”

“I know. But it’s cute, so it’s fine, right?”

Sir Dominic let out a bleak sigh.

Sir Dominica, being more emotional than Sir Dominic, was willing to let it slide.

Other people’s reactions weren’t much different.

They found the absurd development bewildering, but decided it was fine because it was cute.

“That was quite entertaining,” people said as they began to disperse.

No one paid attention to the Chief of Staff and the administrator, who were engaged in what they claimed was the fiercest verbal battle in the world.

    “!”

    “!”

    “?”

    “…?”

The Demon Lord and the Duke seemed to be conversing, as their movements and expressions kept changing.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica had no reason to stay any longer, but they decided to watch the strangely captivating behavior of the two a little longer.

    “!”

    “!”

Suddenly, the Demon Lord turned her head and looked at Sir Dominic.

After pondering for a moment, the Demon Lord walked over to Sir Dominic with tiny steps and extended her rice-cake-like hand.

It was an expression meaning “You’re the one who gave me candy before!” but Sir Dominic, not understanding the Demon Lord’s higher-dimensional language, interpreted the gesture differently.

“Are you asking for candy again? Unfortunately, I only have cinnamon candy right now.”

Sir Dominic interpreted the gesture as “Give me!”

He happened to have some cinnamon candies in his pocket for when his blood sugar dropped after intense activity, but he thought they would be too spicy for Teu Le Vante.

    “!”

The Demon Lord was disappointed by Sir Dominic’s completely different interpretation, but thinking about it, she did want candy.

Through this natural flow of consciousness, the Demon Lord nodded, finding the interpretation acceptable even though that wasn’t her original intention.

    The Duke wasn’t much different.

    “!”

Sir Dominica watched as the Duke approached her with bouncy steps, pulling the toy pony’s wheels.

The Duke looked up at Sir Dominica and swung his sponge sword.

It was an expression asking for another duel, but Sir Dominica looked at the Duke, smiled slightly, and patted his head.

“Yes, yes. You look like a Hero. You’ve been working hard, haven’t you?”

Sir Dominica hugged Duke Po Le Zak tightly, as if praising a good child.

    “…!”

The soft Duke Po Le Zak’s cheeks felt tremendous pressure.

Sir Dominica’s trained chest was itself a dangerous weapon.

Duke Po Le Zak was surprised by the overwhelming pressure and flailed his arms and legs before going limp.

But for someone surprised by the pressure, he also looked somewhat happy.

“You! What are you doing to the Demon Lord!”

“Take your hands off the Duke! How insolent!”

The Chief of Staff and the administrator.

This elderly duo, in the midst of their fight, saw the Demon Lord and the Hero seemingly kidnapped by Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica.

It wasn’t a kidnapping at all, but these overprotective old men had jumped to that conclusion without considering the middle part of their thought process.

Their charges were cute enough that anyone would want to take them away.

The Chief of Staff rubbed the bridge of his nose as he looked at Sir Dominic.

“You, it’s you again. The wound from last time still aches…”

Sir Dominic tilted his head at the Chief of Staff’s words.

Could that be called a duel? Wasn’t it just a desperate dogfight?

However, the Chief of Staff referred to it as a duel and summoned his gauntlet, remembering that desperate battle.

    Meanwhile.

“How rude. You humiliated me last time, and now you’re kidnapping the Duke?”

The administrator looked at Sir Dominica and gritted his teeth.

Watching him, Sir Dominica smiled slightly.

“Still not enough? Judging by your mouth still working after being beaten by a tier 2, I guess not.”

Sir Dominica shifted her gaze to the administrator’s lower body.

The administrator flinched at her gaze and covered between his legs with both hands, shrinking back. But soon, as if his pride was hurt by this instinctive protective reaction, he angrily pulled out an ornate book.

    “Youuu!”

The tag team match between the Chief of Staff and the administrator versus Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica! In a way, round two!

The curtain was about to rise on this desperate yet spectacular show.

    “?”

    “!”

Of course, the Demon Lord and the Duke were watching while exchanging popcorn that had appeared from nowhere.
