Ch.62Chapter 62: Vampire (18).

    A truly scorched earth.

The dust cloud from the exploding buildings had kept Valt’s group hidden so far.

Liliths was struggling to maintain flight with both Valt and Yuria’s large bodies.

They weren’t heavy, but keeping them airborne wasn’t easy.

“Ugh, V-Valt-nim. I think I’m going to drop you!”

Valt grinned and made a request to Liliths.

“Let’s make a second attack! Create a foothold for me.”

    Pabat!

Liliths created a round object made of blood without using hand signs.

Using that object as a foothold, Valt rushed toward the ground while creating a massive rock hammer and shouted.

“Everyone, save the people!! Then come help me!!”

    “Valt!!”

Lati shouted to stop Valt, but he was already falling toward the ground at tremendous speed.

    “Damn it! Let’s move quickly!!”

Valt calculated that with the mobility of Lati and Liliths, who could fly, they could quickly rescue people.

Yuria couldn’t fly but had running speed even faster than Valt.

And no matter how he thought about it, he believed he was the only one who could hold them off alone.

This second attack would deliver another critical blow to enemies who hadn’t regained their senses yet.

As he descended, Valt continued to increase the size of his rock hammer, aiming it not at the people but at the ground where most soldiers were gathered.

    “Earth! Crash!”

    BOOM!!

Similar to the Earth Stamp he had used before, but this time he struck with a massive hammer instead of his leg.

The magical and physical power was incomparable.

Valt’s magical power penetrated the ground, causing a massive explosion that devastated the surrounding area.

    RUMBLE!

    “En-enemy attack!!”

    “ARGHH!!”

The magic that penetrated the ground sent stone fragments shooting upward in an enormous radius.

    CRASH!

    BOOM BOOM-

The magic-infused fragments rose toward the soldiers, striking them from below and rendering them incapacitated.

“I can’t end it with just this!”

Attacks during chaotic situations were even more effective.

After landing by exploding the ground, Valt didn’t take even a moment to catch his breath. He created fan-shaped stones and began spinning in place.

There were already enormous boulders all around him.

To create an even larger whirlwind than when he fought Riduin, Valt deliberately created fan-shaped rocks and spun them.

Power control and range adjustment were unnecessary.

    Everyone around was an enemy.

    WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

In an instant, a massive tornado formed around Valt’s rapidly spinning body, and with his will, even the boulders were caught in the tornado.

    “Go! Stone Tornado!”

    WHOOOOSH!!

The stone tornado Valt threw devoured the soldiers and tore them apart. Valt ran in the opposite direction of the tornado and began attacking soldiers who had spotted him.

    “Wind Fist! Wind Cutter!”

    THUD!

    SLASH!

There were soldiers of levels 4 and 5 in the mix. None could withstand Valt’s strikes.

But countless soldiers spotted Valt and rushed toward him.

The surprise attack was over. Now he needed to hold his ground steadfastly and wait for Lati and the others.

    Rumble-

Valt’s arms were covered with magic gauntlets as he boldly declared:

“Come on! I’ll take you all on!”

The magic armor had a time limit. Valt planned to withstand attacks using magic gauntlets and satellite stone weapons that didn’t consume much magical power.

Of course, he would mix in magic armor in dangerous situations.

The majesty Valt displayed was truly extraordinary.

The soldiers approached Valt, but none dared to attack recklessly.

    Attacking first meant certain death.

That anxiety had spread among the soldiers.

This stalemate lasted longer than expected. The standoff would continue unless someone made the first move.

Valt, who needed time to recover, didn’t mind the current situation.

‘Good, about 200 of them… Now, what should I do?’

    Valt wasn’t nervous at all.

He wasn’t just holding out; he was thinking of ways to subdue all these soldiers.

    ***

Lati’s group flew toward the hostages, their bodies made invisible by invisibility magic.

Their top priority was Ishuran and his followers. If they were traitors working with the enemy, they wouldn’t have been captured like this.

Valt’s commotion had reduced their numbers significantly, but many soldiers still remained on standby near him.

As an 8th circle mage, he was naturally guarded by high-level soldiers.

However, Liliths was now in an awakened state from Valt’s blood.

Though normally a 6th circle mage, at this moment she was no less than a 7th circle.

Approaching Ishuran, Liliths activated the same magic she had used to communicate with King Bladir.

    [Uncle.]

    Startled-

Ishuran raised his head at the voice he heard.

[The sunstone probably only allows you to listen. Can I consider you an ally, just for this moment?]

    Ishuran nodded.

He was indeed the one who had brought in these forces.

He had desired to depose King Bladir, become king himself, and make vampires flourish as an even greater power.

The mysterious forces had helped Ishuran, and until recently, he had accepted his brother’s dethronement as a foregone conclusion.

But it hadn’t turned out that way.

The mysterious forces had approached Ishuran under the pretext of regular blood stone supplies.

But what they truly sought was the divine object of the vampires.

    It was strange.

The blood tears of the Strigoi were unusable by anyone other than vampires, so it didn’t make sense for humans to covet them.

But what good was regret now? To Ishuran, who had accepted death as his karma, a new opportunity had arisen.

[Make a blood oath. Then I will help you.]

    Blood oath.

It was a vampire’s way of making a contract, swearing on their life to keep a promise.

Not being magic, it was a uniquely vampire method of contract that could be fully effective even in the current situation.

Ishuran bit his lip hard, letting blood drip to the floor as he recited an incantation.

“I swear under the power of the Strigoi.”

A guard who noticed Ishuran’s strange behavior sensed something was wrong.

“This bastard… what is he doing…”

    BOOM!

    WHOOSH!

    “ARGHH!!”

A fireball flew in from somewhere, burning the soldier, and Lati and Yuria appeared.

    “Yuria! Run! I’ll support you!”

Lati jumped onto Yuria’s shoulder and shouted. Yuria began her beast transformation, leaping to the ground while crossing her arms to extend her claws.

    SLASH-

“Haha! With Lati riding on my shoulder, I feel like a magic warrior!”

Immediately, Lati cast three buff spells on Yuria.

    “Haste! Strength! Agility!”

Feeling vitality course through her body, Yuria began slaughtering the enemies before her.

    “KYAHAA!”

    SLASH!

    “ARGH!”

A coordinated movement: Yuria drew attention while Liliths rescued Ishuran.

The enemies predictably rushed toward Yuria.

    “Fire Pillar!! Run now!”

    “Tch! How undignified!”

But among those rushing at Yuria were 6th level powerhouses.

    Yuria alone had her limits.

With Lati’s buff spells increasing her speed, she chose to play a game of tag.

    “She’s running! After her!”

    SWOOSH!

    SLASH-

The soldiers’ attacks rained down on Yuria as she quickly retreated.

    “Hold tight! Lati!”

    BANG!

Yuria sprang forward on all fours.

She was deliberately fleeing at a pace that allowed them to follow.

But not all soldiers chased after Yuria.

Some strong ones remained to guard Ishuran and the others.

That’s when Liliths revealed herself and attacked them.

    CRACKLE!

The same binding magic, but its intensity was incomparable to before.

    “Huh?”

And then crimson spears extended in a spinning motion.

Blood Spears, much more powerful than before, rained down on the soldiers guarding Ishuran.

    THUD THUD THUD!

    “ARGHH!!”

Liliths, her eyes glowing red, floated in the air and shouted at the soldiers.

“I’ll kill you all. Filthy humans.”

    Ishuran watched this scene.

‘Bl-blood awakening? Liliths achieved blood awakening? How is this possible!!’

    The absolute rule of vampires:

Absolute obedience to those who awaken silver hair as true ancestors.

The special blood magic wielded by silver-haired true ancestors.

It held absolute dominance among vampires.

    “Blood Rain.”

An area magic that debuffed opponents with a rain of blood while empowering vampires.

A forgotten magic that only those who had awakened as true ancestors could use.

    “Ugh! My b-body!”

    “Die. Blood Thorn.”

The blood that fell formed pools, and sharp thorns rose from these pools to slaughter the enemies.

Each attack had power exceeding the 7th circle.

Even 6th level powerhouses were quickly dispatched.

After dealing with the enemies, Liliths removed all the sunstones from Ishuran.

    CRACK-

“…How is this possible? How did you achieve awakening…?”

“We’ll talk later, Uncle. Right now, defeating the enemies seems more urgent.”

    What they saw wasn’t everything.

Soldiers hidden inside buildings rushed out to target Valt’s group.

“Capture them! Don’t let them escape!! Bring the weapons made of sunstone!!”

Sunstone, which had absolute effect on vampires.

They had modified it to create weapons that emitted sunlight.

This explained how the enemies had neutralized so many vampires.

Ishuran spat blood and shouted at Liliths.

    “URGH!! Liliths, get away!!”

As if trying to atone for his sins, Ishuran blocked the sunstone weapon, but Liliths stepped in front of him instead.

    “Liliths!! No!!”

But there was something they had overlooked.

    “Blood Tornado!!”

    BOOM!!

    “ARGH! H-how?!”

A vampire who had properly awakened the true ancestor’s blood wouldn’t weaken even under sunlight.

Liliths’ Blood Rain weakened the sunstone’s seal. The vampire buff effect of Blood Rain was counteracting the sunstone’s power.

“Everyone with strength, shatter the sunstones!!”

Vampires who had regained their strength began shattering the sunstones that bound them.

Those who couldn’t do it themselves were immediately helped by their comrades.

Trying to save them one by one would have taken an enormous amount of time.

That’s why Liliths had cast a wide-area buff spell. She wasn’t sure if it would work, but it had succeeded beautifully.

Silver-haired true ancestor Liliths called out to the vampire citizens:

“Fight!! Vampires!! Will you endure this violation?! Let’s protect our home with our own hands!!”
