Ch.61Chapter 61: Vampire (17)
by fnovelpia
The wizard trembles at Valt’s question, yet still manages a sinister smile.
“H-heh… Even if you know that, there’s nothing you can do here… Just surrender and be captured quietly…”
*Thwack-*
“Gurk…”
Valt, who pierced the wizard’s throat with an awl in one swift motion, mutters.
“If you don’t want to talk, I’ll have to check for myself.”
From the clock tower, the grand plaza is visible at a glance.
Countless vampires are being restrained, and hundreds of soldiers guarding them can be seen.
“Hmm… For restraining such a large number, there aren’t many soldiers. Must be using other means?”
It’s Lilith who answers Valt’s question.
“Sun stones. Restraints made of sun stones. They have the effect of weakening vampires.”
That makes sense. They’ve prepared an enormous amount of magical tools to restrain vampires who weaken in sunlight.
“Troublesome. It’s impossible to free them one by one. Looks like we’ll have to take down all these guys…”
At that moment, Valt spotted a familiar figure.
“Huh? Lilith, isn’t that your uncle?”
Even Ishran Bloodwell is restrained, covered with sun stones.
“Why is my uncle… Wasn’t he the traitor?”
“Who knows, maybe they betrayed him in turn. For now, rescuing Ishran seems to be the priority.”
Whatever happened, Valt’s keen eyes can see that Ishran’s expression is full of indignation.
Ishran is an 8th Circle powerhouse.
If they could remove the sun stones, he would be a great help.
“Hmm… where’s the portal? Is that it?”
In the center of what the outside mirror indicates.
There, a blue circular mass of magical energy that looks like a portal was visible.
Lati nods her head from Valt’s shoulder.
“That’s right. If we go through there, we can escape.”
Naturally, there are guards stationed around the portal.
Valt is the leader. Lati asks for his opinion.
“What are we going to do?”
Given the scale of the hostage situation, it would be difficult to rescue them by ordinary means.
“No choice, we’ll charge straight through.”
“What? Against those numbers?”
Lilith is also surprised by Valt’s words.
“There are too many enemies. Can we win? Stamina seems like it would be an issue…”
Valt’s group is strong. But the number of enemies is a problem.
No matter how tireless Valt is, they’ve been fighting without much rest until now, and facing hundreds of soldiers all at once would be difficult.
But Valt has something in mind. The characteristics of vampires he saw in the library—vampires have the stamina to fight indefinitely as long as they have blood.
The key is Lilith. How many vampires they can save will depend on what Lilith can do.
“Lilith, is it true that you can fight indefinitely as long as you have blood?”
“Well… if we’re just talking about whether it’s possible or not, then yes.”
Until now, they’ve been too busy running to extract blood from enemies, but now things are different.
“First, drink this wizard’s blood. So you can face the enemy at full strength.”
“But…”
Lilith, who chose coexistence with humans alongside King Vladir, has never sunk her fangs into a human’s neck.
“I’m not asking you to abandon your beliefs. I’m saying it’s necessary right now.”
But there’s anxiety visible in Lilith’s expression.
“That’s not the issue… Vampires who consume too much human blood in a short time become intoxicated by it. It becomes difficult to return to normal… Blood is essential for vampires, but if abused…”
This was the first time Valt learned of this problem. If that’s the case, the situation becomes difficult.
After thinking for a moment, Valt asks one thing.
“Hmm… Is it only human blood that does this?”
“Yes, only human blood causes addiction, mental disorders, and dependency. That’s why I was surprised when I ate the salamander crystal earlier. There were no such symptoms at all.”
Hearing this, Valt takes out an empty glass bottle from his spatial pocket and places it on the ground.
“Huh? Valt, what are you doing?”
“Lati is too small to give blood, and Yuria’s blood wouldn’t suit a vampire, so I’m going to try giving you mine. Have you ever drunk a Gerung-tu’s blood?”
Lilith quickly shakes her head.
“No… This is even my first time seeing a barbarian.”
This is a kind of gamble.
If Lilith drinks the barbarian’s blood and shows no addiction symptoms, their chances of success increase.
Valt relaxes his arm and asks Yuria to cut it for him.
*Kagagrang-*
“What the… Did I just hear metal scraping against muscle?”
“Use aura.”
*Psshht-*
As Yuria draws up her aura, a wound finally appears on Valt’s forearm, and blood drips into the glass bottle.
*Drip-*
About a mouthful of blood has collected? Valt flexes his arm to stop the bleeding. Then he hands the bottle to Lilith.
“Drink it. I hope this works.”
With a tense face, Lilith takes the glass bottle from Valt and downs it in one gulp.
*Gulp-*
Curious, Lati asks Lilith, who has her eyes closed.
“W-well? How is it?”
At that moment.
*Crash-*
The glass bottle Lilith was holding falls to the ground and shatters, and an enormous amount of magical power swirls and erupts from Lilith’s body.
“Eek! W-what’s happening?”
Even her long black hair shoots upward as magical power erupts, her eyes flash open glowing blood-red, and a tremendous scream echoes.
“AAAAAAHHH!!”
*BOOM!!*
Even Valt, who rarely gets flustered, looks slightly taken aback by this unexpected event.
“Kuh, Lati, Yuria, get behind me! This doesn’t look good!”
*Drrrrrrrr!*
Valt’s entire body is covered in magical armor as he blocks the tremendous magical storm.
“She was supposed to be 6th Circle!! This power exceeds even 7th Circle!!”
“V-Valt’s blood has enormously amplified the vampire’s power!! The massive life energy is perfect for vampires!!”
From Yuria and Lati’s conversation, Valt realizes his prediction was correct.
Gerung-tu possess tremendous physical bodies. Just looking at that, it’s clear they overflow with life energy.
The assumption that Gerung-tu can continue to grow stronger despite not using aura or magic at all because of this life energy was correct.
If that’s the case, Gerung-tu blood could be the most efficient energy source for vampires who convert life energy into magical power.
But he didn’t know it would be this efficient.
“KYAAAAAAAH!”
*BOOM-*
*CRASH!!*
Lilith’s magical power spreads in all directions and begins to destroy the clock tower.
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
With this commotion, the outside forces couldn’t possibly be unaware.
Lati peeks and sees numerous troops rushing toward the clock tower.
“What do we do, Valt!? What should we do!?”
At Lati’s panic, Valt reveals his white teeth, signaling the start of the operation.
“What’s the big deal? It’s just starting a bit noisily. Lati, try using some defensive magic.”
“U-um??”
“We’re attacking the clock tower.”
“WHAT??!”
After saying that, Valt first checks on Lilith.
Because he saw that Lilith was regaining her senses.
“Lilith, are you alright?”
“Hah! *gasp* V-Valt-nim, th-this!?”
Her raised black hair has changed to silver hair similar to Valt’s. Anyone can see that something has changed.
“We’ll talk about your transformation later. For now, let’s bring down the clock tower!”
Valt begins pounding the already considerably damaged clock tower with his fists.
*BANG-*
*CRASH!*
*BANG!*
The pillars and walls burst under Valt’s punches, and soon the upper part of the clock tower begins to tilt.
*Rumble-*
However, the massive clock tower begins to tilt outward.
But Valt isn’t targeting the people outside.
It’s the numerous troops currently climbing this clock tower.
A collapse from inside with nowhere to escape would surely deal a heavy blow.
“Hrrrm. Lilith! Assist me! We’re making the building fall inward!”
“What? Yes!!”
Lilith, realizing what Valt is trying to do, assists him.
“Blood Restriction!”
The binding magic she used before.
Numerous blood-colored strings extend from Lilith and grab the collapsing clock tower.
At that moment, Valt leaps up.
Not to the top of the building, but to support the building from below.
“Tie those ropes around my arms and the building!”
*Whooosh-*
“HRRRRRGH!!”
Valt’s muscles bulge as he changes the direction of the clock tower.
Lati and Yuria’s mouths hang open at the incredible sight.
“H-he lifted that?!”
And Valt throws the redirected building downward.
“Release!”
*Snap!*
As Lilith’s binding magic is released, the upper part of the clock tower that Valt threw begins to fall, crushing the interior.
“HAHAHA!! Take this!! Building drop!”
Throwing an enormous building.
It possesses tremendous physical force in itself.
The main material of the building is stone. That means it’s related to earth magic.
The clock tower, affected by Valt’s earth attribute enhancement item and physical magic, completely destroys the interior of the building and turns the rushing soldiers into bloody pulp.
*BANG!*
*CRASH!*
*BANG!*
*Rumble-*
*BOOM!*
“G-get out!! Get out of the clock tower!!”
“AAAAARGH!!”
*Crack-*
*Splat-*
*Crack-*
Dozens of soldiers were neutralized with just one attack, and the clock tower, which pierced through the building to reach the ground, causes a tremendous explosion with the massive magical power contained within it.
*BOOOOOOM!!*
*BAAAANG!!*
“AAAAARGH!!”
Even troops that hadn’t entered the clock tower suffer serious damage, caught in the massive explosion.
Unbelievable damage for just one building collapsing.
And who would believe a building could collapse inward like that?
The troops inside are thrown into confusion, and chaos ensues.
*Flutter-*
At that moment, Valt’s group is floating in the air thanks to Lilith.
Bat wings made of magical power have sprouted from Lilith, allowing her to fly.
Everyone except Valt, who witnessed the tremendous scene before them, can’t close their gaping mouths.
“M-my goodness…!”
