    ## Chapter 610. After the Event, a Moment of Rest

And while I was testing the limits of large-scale ship modification facilities by transforming Dreadnought No. 1 into what was once a dreadnought…

    —————————————–

    <GLOBAL ANNOUNCEMENT>

    <<<‘BATTLE TOURNAMENT’ CONCLUDED!>>>

<Thank you for your participation, Commanders!>

<With all battles now complete, this event has officially come to an end.>

<However, the event point shop will remain open for one more week.>

<Commanders, please take your time and select the rewards that appeal to you most!>

    —————————————–

    ‘Oh, it’s finally over.’

Those epic yet painfully slow battles.

How did those players who just stared at gamma ray explosions from the start without being able to do anything manage to get results?

About two days after most 10th-round users including myself finished our battles, the global message announcing the end of the event finally appeared.

After spending about 10 minutes reminiscing about what a long and intense event it had been, I leisurely opened the gallery to check the reactions.

And right away, stories about the so-called “fire-staring battles” I mentioned earlier popped up first.

    —————————————–

Title: Did you guys see the results of the fire-staring battle?

After waiting all day for the gamma ray explosion to disappear

They decided to play rock-paper-scissors in the gallery and destroy one ship each time they lost

    [Screenshot of a very lengthy rock-paper-scissors chat.jpg]

But since both brought tons of mercenary units to their bases, it took forever

At the end, they argued that super dreadnoughts were in a different weight class and couldn’t be taken down in one go, so they agreed on best two out of three

But after they tied 1:1 with just one match remaining

The gamma ray explosion phenomenon disappeared, so they immediately jumped into a mindless slugfest and one side won

    Comments:

    -[The ending was explosive lol]

-[Well, at least someone managed to win]

    —————————————–

While it might seem anticlimactic, it was also a situation that broke through the monotony in one fell swoop.

I couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed that I hadn’t witnessed it firsthand.

Besides stories like that, various notable battles from the event were being discussed throughout the gallery.

Among them, two battles were particularly popular, one of which was undoubtedly my battle with Rio Grande where we “received the worst natural environment.”

    —————————————–

Title: The most extreme battlefield environment in this event.jpg

Content: [Screenshot of the quadruple environmental debuff map from ‘Icarus’ vs ‘Rio Grande’ battle.jpg]

Still looks like a shitty map no matter how many times I look at it

After seeing this, I went around checking if there were similar places elsewhere

But there really wasn’t anywhere worse than this lol

    Comments:

    -[Damn, that fucking ion turbulence]

-[Rio Grande got screwed by that neutron storm against Icarus]

-˪[Icarus almost died from the neutron storm too, so let’s call that even]

-[The ion turbulence and neutron storm were bad, but the maze-like asteroid field at the top that restricted routes was the most vicious part]

-˪[Because of that, both rankers sent dozens of small ships to the upper area, but they couldn’t do anything until the end of the battle]

-˪[No, they actually did their job by preventing each other’s small ships from flanking the main fleet through the upper area]

-[I was impressed when Icarus submerged their dreadnoughts in the ion turbulence mid-battle]

    -˪[For real lol]

    -˪[Like submarines]

    —————————————–

    ‘The reviews are good.’

And the other popular battle was between ‘Garibi’ and ‘Diamante,’ reportedly the last battle to be broadcast live in the gallery.

Though it was just speculation and not officially confirmed as the final battle.

    —————————————–

Title: Did you guys see the no-bullshit manly battle between Garibi and Diamante?

    Author: Anonymous

Content: [A gif showing ships exchanging fire while spiraling toward a black hole, with only one ship remaining on each side.gif]

These crazy bastards completely wrecked all their ships, both standard and gacha ships, without saving any

And even while falling toward a black hole, they kept fighting to destroy the enemy ship and win

[Image of assault pods being fired to capture the enemy ship while falling into a black hole.jpg]

    Yeah

    Comments:

-[One is a Gigantia-class, but what’s the other one?]

    -˪[I don’t know](Author)

    -[So who won?]

-˪[Garibi destroyed the ship, but Diamante’s superhumans captured the ship right after and reversed the outcome](Author)

    -˪[Holy shit;;]

    -˪[That comeback is insane]

    —————————————–

Without needing further explanation, the heroic battle had captured the hearts of users.

Even after the “real” final battle was revealed not long after, most users still considered this battle—dubbed the “Free Fall Battle”—as the true climax.

    ==========

While some users were chattering about the battles, others were agonizing over the event “rewards.”

Unlike previous events, this one had a major issue…

    —————————————–

Title: What should I choose from the event shop for maximum benefit?

    Author: Don Grima

Content: [Proof shot showing 2,000 event points.jpg]

Here’s proof of my points first

    What’s the best choice?

Is buying ships the most profitable?

    Comments:

-[The shop shows different items depending on how many points you have]

-[So we don’t know what’s available to you lol]

    -˪[Is that for real?](Author)

-[With 2,000 points, I recommend getting two decent-ranked cruisers like the Arkhangelsk]

-˪[They’re exactly 1,000 points each, so good value]

    -˪[Oh thanks](Author)

    —————————————–

Title: Help me choose from the shop urgently

    Author: BabyNoob

Content: [Image showing 3,200 points with the shop window open.jpg]

What should I get first? Baby noob is very curious

    Comments:

-[Where would you find a baby noob these days?]

-˪[Wait, this bastard has tons of points, you’re an old geezer]

-[Just go ride a tractor, old man]

    -[We don’t know either]

    -˪[Why don’t you know? Baby noob](Author)

-˪[Because the shop shows different items depending on your points]

    —————————————–

    That’s right.

Normally, the shop would display a list of items, and users would use their collective wisdom to determine what was best.

Unfortunately, this event’s reward shop strangely showed completely different rewards depending on the points.

To be precise, it wasn’t that the rewards were different, but rather the “list of items available for purchase” was tailored to the amount of points held.

The important thing was that unless users had the same number of points, there was no way to advise others on what was good in the shop.

At least for users with fewer points, those with higher points could look through everything and offer advice.

But for users with higher points, it was mostly difficult for others to provide guidance.

As a result, unusual confusion was spreading throughout the gallery.

After browsing through all the discussions in the gallery and banning some trolls and griefers who had emerged from somewhere with their offensive images, giving them a clean 15-day suspension,

I confirmed there was nothing more to see, closed the gallery window, and was finally able to enjoy some peaceful time.
