    ## Chapter 607. The Time for ‘Real’ Starship Modification Has Come. (1)

After watching all those battles and observing how others fight…

As the event battles naturally concluded, the feed was starting to fill with users discussing what they should buy from the shop when—

“Commander, the auxiliary building construction is complete.”

    “Pwaaang.”

Seeing the building completion message appear at just the right moment, I closed the gallery window I was no longer interested in.

I decided it was time to seriously consider what building to construct next.

And for that consideration, I gently opened the construction window.

‘Only the expensive ones are left.’

Seeing only options that would take other users at least a month of dedicated saving to build, I felt somewhat melancholic.

“Jessica, how many resources do we have right now?”

“21 million minerals and 5.7 million rare resources, sir.”

    “Hmm.”

Thanks to our previous mercenary work and the massive resource influx from users docking at our base…

We had enough resources overflowing to build all of these at once. I nodded and decided to just pick something to build.

    And a moment later.

    <Time Remaining Until Completion: 32 days 19 hours 35 minutes 44 seconds>

After much deliberation (5 minutes), I decided to build an auxiliary building in the old Earth Federation style.

Of course, when I selected that for construction, Jessica tilted her head with a puzzled expression.

“Commander, isn’t that somewhat mismatched with our fleet’s style?”

    “What do you mean?”

“I mean that control matrix. I don’t think we really need it right now.”

I raised a finger and wiggled it while responding to Jessica.

“It’s not like we have any urgent needs right now, Jessi-Jessi.”

    “Well… that’s true, but…”

“So since there have been many updates recently with more superhuman and exchange events, couldn’t we use this to somehow work well with the Leviathan Squadron… I mean, the Earth Federation Provisional Government?”

    “Hmm… I hadn’t thought that far.”

Of course, that explanation was nothing more than my own speculation…

To be honest, none of the remaining buildings had any significant meaning for us right now.

Building anything would neither disadvantage nor immediately benefit us.

It was fair to say that building something with potential future benefits was the best option.

And while making up such speculations was honestly fun, I decided against sharing that part because Jessica would probably do the bunny ear “tush-tush” gesture at me.

    ==========

Anyway, after proceeding with the auxiliary building upgrade…

‘Looking at this, there really are a lot.’

Seeing all the ships being dismantled and realizing we still needed time before unpacking Hresvelgr Unit 2…

I was confident that even if I didn’t know when the event would end, we’d have no major issues for at least a week after it ended.

So I decided it was time to test the <Large-Scale Ship Modification Facility> I had built earlier.

Of course, to this, the ever-rational Jessica said:

“Commander, didn’t you already use it once to modify two Overseers?”

She boldly challenged me, but to her words, I raised my finger again and wiggled it side to side, reminding her that what I was about to do was not just some minor “modification.”

“What I’m going to do now is extreme modification to the maximum possible extent.”

“…What? What exactly are you planning to do?”

“Exactly what I said—extreme modification, the ultimate extreme modification.”

Anyway, after wrapping up that conversation, I immediately summoned the modification experts(?), Griyanar and Nero.

I ordered them to test extreme modification on a destroyer as a trial run.

To this order, not only the always-mischievous Griyanar but also Nero beside her said:

“Commander, are you really planning to start with just a destroyer?”

    “What?”

    “A-a-a tiny ship like that isn’t r-r-right for ex-extreme modification…”

    “What are you talking about?”

‘What’s this? Are they suggesting insubordination?’

Seeing such reactions immediately after giving my order, visions of the large-scale superhuman escapes and rebellions from the event flashed before my eyes like a kaleidoscope…

    But fortunately, right after:

“Commander, if we’re going to do this, shouldn’t we use a massive ship?”

    “Y-yes, with the m-modification facility, it w-won’t take much t-time anyway…”

    “Oh, that’s what you meant.”

Their talk wasn’t about “rebellion” at all, but rather their desire to extremely modify a beautiful “dreadnought” instead of a destroyer.

Of course, after considering their words briefly:

“No matter what, we can’t just randomly modify one of our few main force ships. It’s obvious we’d just waste time having to restore it back to normal if something goes wrong.”

I decided to maintain rational thinking and put the brakes on their hobby.

But to my words, the purple-haired Griyanar replied:

“Commander, a real man should be able to extremely modify even a dreadnought.”

“But Griyanar, a dreadnought is still a bit much, don’t you think?”

    “Chicken?”

    “…”

She must have picked up some strange phrases somewhere and was now boldly challenging her commander with “Chicken?”

Of course, absolutely, definitely not scratched by this—no, not scratched at all—I responded with completely rational, clear, and cool-headed reasoning:

“Jessica, put a dreadnought in the modification facility.”

    “…”
