Ch.606The Time for Event Reward Shopping.
by fnovelpia
The next morning.
After waking up and stretching my stiff body, I went straight to the command center where I found an event message that functioned as an alarm bell to wake me up.

<Event>
<‘Battle Tournament’ Event Point Reward Receipt!>
<Details>
<You have won the 10th round of the tournament!>
<The following points are awarded for qualifying and victories from rounds 3-10!>
<Result>
<‘Battle Tournament’ Event Points 3,750 awarded>
—————————————–
“…I don’t know if this is a lot or a little.”
Why do these point rewards always come in awkward numbers like 3,750 instead of nice round figures like 3,000 or 4,000? It feels like being interrupted mid-bathroom break, giving me a strangely ambiguous feeling.
But that feeling didn’t last long.
‘Who am I? The tournament victor.’
When I realized that I, the great tournament vic★tor★, shouldn’t be quibbling over such trivial matters, I quickly regained my cool, rational composure. After completing today’s daily quest…
Today, Jessica was dressed in a pure bunny girl style, wagging her short stubby tail from side to side while handling various administrative tasks. Meanwhile, I leisurely opened the event shop window.
Perhaps because I had points now, the shop’s contents had changed significantly compared to yesterday…

<Product List>
<Hresvelgr-class Strategic Missile Platform Battleship – 3,500pt>
…(omitted)…

“WOOOOOOOAH!!”
“Eeeek?! W-what’s wrong?”
“Oh shopping gods, descend upon me!”

The moment I saw the Hresvelgr item prominently displayed at the top, I let out a strange cry and immediately decided to purchase a second Hresvelgr without even checking what else was available.
‘Now I have another death spear.’
However, there was one major problem with immediately bringing in Hresvelgr Unit 2.
“Commander, we don’t have enough fleet points to add another Arsenal Ship…”
“Hmm, that’s true.”
The issue was that an “Arsenal Ship” like the Hresvelgr-class required a whopping 70 points, but my base currently had no fleet points to spare.
Of course, if there weren’t enough points available, I could always make room.
“Jessica, we currently have a medium battleship in the fleet, right?”
“Yes.”
“Dismantle that and eleven destroyers to secure enough points.”
“I’ll do that right away.”
I decided to scrap the medium battleship (45 points) and destroyers (3 points each) to secure enough points.
Of course, dismantling ships also took quite a bit of time, and until the dismantling was complete, the points would remain allocated. As a result, the Hresvelgr that I had impulsively purchased remained “packaged” and tucked away in Daedalus’s internal docking facility until all the aforementioned ships were dismantled.
And even after that impulsive purchase of the Hresvelgr, I still had 250 points left.

‘Ah, shopping well done.’
Instead of wasting time window shopping for strange items, I decided to end the event by purchasing resource boxes that could be used as reserve supplies.
==========
Having efficiently handled everything with nothing left for me to do directly, I decided to leisurely browse the gallery to see what other users were up to.
Of course, the purpose of this browsing was ultimately to watch other users’ battles…
Although all battles didn’t start at exactly the same time, it seemed that while I was fighting Rio Grande, other users’ battles had progressed sufficiently. Despite a delay of several hours, most of the “live broadcasts” were already racing toward their conclusion.
Of course, some battles were still ongoing, which I could peek in and watch…
The problem was that battles that hadn’t ended yet all had their reasons, unless they started late:

Self-explanatory
Comments:
-[Why aren’t these guys fighting?]
-˪[They went all out mindlessly at the beginning and lost too much](Author)
-˪[How intensely did they fight exactly?]
-˪[These guys deployed everything they could at the start, including firing asteroids for meteor attacks and going straight into all-out war]
-˪[90% of both fleets were destroyed within the first hour](Author)
-˪[Wow]
-[LOLOLOLOL they still haven’t settled it?]
-[Why is it taking so long?]
-˪[They each only have one Super Dreadnought left, and whoever loses will lose everything, so they’re being super cautious]

While some users were just roaming the map out of fear, having reached a state where “losing means losing everything”…

Title: 12 Hours Into Battle, Users Still Can’t Fight

Content: [Video showing gamma ray bursts from a black hole that have been continuously emitting since the game started, with both fleets idly waiting despite being right in front of each other]
Look at this terrible terrain
I was watching this situation about 10 hours ago, and they’re still like this
Comments:
-[???What is this?]
-˪[Gamma ray bursts that have been going on for 12 hours]
-[At this point, they should honestly change the map lol]
-[Having to watch gamma rays spewing for 12 hours…]

Conversely, there were users who hadn’t lost a single ship due to environmental obstacles and were just staring blankly at the situation.
The rooms being shown were understandably boring and time-consuming.
Of course, some users were showing “intense” battles that relieved the boredom:

Content: [GIF of ‘Betelgeuse’ vs ‘Sprout’ battle, showing Sprout’s ships ramming into Betelgeuse’s large vessels and pushing them into a black hole]
Since there’s a difference in fleet power scale, they’re just pushing ships into the black hole for suicide attacks
Betelgeuse is so overwhelmingly superior in scale that they probably won’t lose
But seeing a Super Dreadnought get pulled into a black hole and explode due to a medium battleship’s ramming attack combined with a forced salvage ship combo
Must be pretty painful for their mental state
Comments:
-[Ooh, that’s some suicide tactics]
-[Hey, trading one medium battleship for a Super Dreadnought is super profitable]
-[Is this Sprout person a ranked player? Don’t think I’ve seen them]
-˪[I think they used to be in the top 1,000 rankings, not sure about now]

Seeing a user who chose a true “you die, I die” suicide tactic different from what I use, I thought, “Now this is what makes watching events enjoyable,” and decided to grab some popcorn to munch on while watching.
