Chapter Index

    “Why on earth are all these explanations so terrible?”

    “I know, right?”

    As Jessica, an administrative expert with exceptional writing skills befitting her role as a ‘secretary’, looked at the messily written ‘tip posts’ in the gallery, her expression suggested she was on the verge of a mental breakdown.

    If she could write posts in the gallery herself, she would probably unleash a barrage of rants demanding proper organization.

    Fortunately, not long after, an ‘interpretation post’ of those bizarre explanations appeared in the gallery.

    Title: Brought a brief summary of the tip posts

    Author: Wiki

    Content: [Beautiful image of 4 factions]

    Since everything was so messy and hard to read, I just wrote this up

    If you disagree, you’re right

    1. Space Monsters – All-in Melee Meta

    ˪Most ships have melee weapons and are strongest in close combat and boarding.

    ˪Long-range capabilities are practically non-existent unless you have ultra-large monsters

    ˪When joining this faction, all ‘regular’ ships recruited by Commanders are replaced with monster ships

    ˪Through deals with the Monster Princess, you can add biological upgrades to Superhumans and ships

    ˪Can strengthen Superhumans by turning them into half-human, half-monster chimeras

    ˪If you complete quests well, you can recruit the Queen Monster, allowing you to operate a small fleet without point restrictions

    2. Aliens – Mobility Combat Meta

    ˪Ships have extremely powerful firepower and ‘shields’, but are the weakest in durability once shields are down

    ˪Average mobility, but ‘deliberately’ slow according to lore, making their ultra-large ships actually the fastest among all factions

    ˪When joining this faction, you can produce alien ships by adding rare resources

    ˪Various additional rewards available by progressing through quests with aliens

    ˪Can enhance Superhumans with psychic abilities or equipment upgrades

    ˪Overall extreme resource consumption rate, covering small numbers with performance – expensive but powerful

    3. Earth Federation – Long-range Mass Production Meta

    ˪Ships are really average, but generally more focused on range and firepower compared to player ships

    ˪Overall hexagonal performance, but because of this, their battleships and larger vessels are the strongest

    ˪When joining this faction, they provide various quests and direct support troops

    ˪Specialized in mass production support like improving Commander productivity or resource gathering efficiency rather than strengthening Superhumans or fleets

    ˪Just adequately average, might be boring unless you want to play with the ultra-large ships that come later

    4. Pirates – Mid-to-Close Range Mobile Mass Production Meta

    ˪Ship performance is the worst, inferior in all aspects compared to the other 3 factions

    ˪But they’re the cheapest, good for mindlessly deploying in large numbers, same applies to ultra-large ships

    ˪Mercenaries from the ‘Mercenary Dispatch’ (buildable at level 5 base) come from here

    ˪When joining this faction, occasionally they give you plundered resources, or pirates who lost faction disputes flow into your base asking to be accepted, increasing your free fleet

    ˪Ship enhancement performance is poor, basically similar to player upgrades since they’re meant to be cheap and numerous

    ˪But they have the best Superhuman enhancement performance, since it’s a world of self-reliance, training our Superhumans here is much better than elsewhere

    5. Neutral – Real Man Meta

    Only for absolute chads who don’t expect any performance buffs

    Try it if you’re a real man

    Of course I don’t do it, I’m not an idiot.

    Comments:

    -[This is really informative]

    -[Ah, refreshing! This is what a tip post should be]

    -[That last line lmaooooo]

    —————————————-

    “This is truly informative.”

    “Indeed, I didn’t expect someone could compress all that information.”

    After reading that summary post, I casually opened my status window to check how much time remained until the base construction was complete.

    —————————————-

    <Base Level 5 Upgrade in Progress…>

    <<<Time Remaining Until Completion: 4 days 23 hours 17 minutes>>>

    —————————————-

    ‘Hmm.’

    Now that I’d seen the faction summary, I decided that during the remaining 5 days, I would first reclaim some of the lost resource zones.

    Then I would adopt a “focused strategy” to increase my resource income rate.

    Separately, I decided it was time to have a proper discussion with Jessica and the others about which faction to choose.

    Of course, this wasn’t an urgent matter, so there wasn’t really a need to discuss it right away…

    —————————————-

    <Quest>

    <Time to Choose a Faction>

    <Content: The time has finally come for you Commanders to make your choice.>

    <Choose the faction that suits you best to promote your future development.>

    <Objective: Choose a faction>

    —————————————-

    ‘Tsk.’

    Because of this sudden quest, I realized that, like it or not, I needed to start preparing soon.

    =========

    However, not long after the discussion began, I realized I had forgotten something.

    “Wouldn’t the Earth Federation be best? Sometimes a well-rounded jack-of-all-trades approach is the most excellent choice.”

    “Hmm.”

    Berial, who was herself a well-rounded jack-of-all-trades, recommended the Earth Federation, which had a similar style and was ‘according to lore’ her place of origin.

    “With alien technology, couldn’t we sufficiently enhance our ships and the Commander’s vessels? Plus, using that technology would let us use better weapons…”

    “Hmm.”

    Ignis, who often engaged in direct combat like melee and boarding battles, seemed to harbor secret fantasies about alien technology.

    “Tentacles…♡ I think we could have wonderful play with the Commander…♡”

    “…Hmm.”

    And Pashtra, who for some reason seemed fixated on the Space Monsters’ tentacles.

    With the three Superhumans each expressing such distinct personalities, there seemed to be no possibility of the meeting’s topic making any progress.

    If Marian were here, the opinion would have tilted one way or another, and a decision would have been made naturally.

    Unfortunately, our Marian was busy trying to control the pirates who were formally emerging as a ‘faction’ and wasn’t present.

    And while I could have just decided myself, the gallery’s opinions along with the three of theirs all seemed reasonable in their own way.

    ‘Argh, I’m getting decision paralysis…!’

    Despite discussions continuing all day, with no conclusion in sight, I had to endure this truly painful time of decision paralysis.

    But this painful time came to an end thanks to Jessica’s intervention when she couldn’t bear watching the situation any longer.

    “What are you all doing? You still haven’t reached a conclusion?”

    Jessica, who had brought food for our meal with the base’s resident staff, shook her head at the sight of the Superhumans still arguing among themselves and me sitting at the head of the table, half losing my mind.

    “Commander, the base construction will be completed soon, and a new person will come out of hibernation, right?”

    “Ah… that’s true.”

    “Then wouldn’t it be fine to hear that person’s opinion too, and choose after checking their style?”

    “…Hmm.”

    Hearing Jessica’s words, I felt energy returning to my body.

    ‘Come to think of it, she’s right. This quest doesn’t have a time limit anyway.’

    I had been rushing because of the quest’s sudden appearance, but as Jessica pointed out, after the base upgrade was complete…

    After seeing the emergence of the new… no, the previously hibernating personnel, making a judgment then wouldn’t be a problem at all.

    Thinking Jessica’s suggestion was absolutely correct, and to redirect the attention of the three who had been arguing, I clapped my hands a couple of times and spoke.

    “As Jessica just said, I think it would be best to hear what our new colleague has to say about this matter when they arrive.”

    And naturally, at my words as their Commander, the three nodded as if they had never been arguing, showing their willingness to follow my decision.
