Ch.595Can’t Live Like This, Let’s Start Over! (1)
by fnovelpia
My surprise was simply due to encountering an “event I’d never seen before” that made me go “Whaaaat?”
“Commaaander, we’re receiving surrender and submission requests from two Overseer ships!”
“What would you like to do?”
“Well… I guess we have no choice. Keep them under strict surveillance so they don’t try anything funny.”
“Understood.”
Despite my bewilderment, I was in the middle of a real-time battle with another user.
I decided to ‘provisionally’ accept their surrender, but kept them tied up right next to our main fleet to prevent them from participating in the battle at all.
Of course, this approach meant that some of our ships would have to be pulled from combat to monitor these defectors, but…
“Breach detected in the enemy fleet formation!”
“They can’t stop our fleet’s charge!”
“Charge! Charge!”
Even with slightly reduced forces on our side…
We only had to pull about four regular-grade medium cruisers, while the enemy lost two SSS-grade medium cruisers.
And in terms of firepower, those Overseer-class ships were equivalent to battleships or even greater.
The opposing user suddenly found themselves with significantly reduced firepower to counter our fleet’s attack…
The enemy fleet under user “Analupia,” already at a numerical disadvantage compared to ours, couldn’t hold out much longer.
When their Dreadnought, presumed to be their flagship, couldn’t withstand the simultaneous attack from approximately 270 of Bendalof’s assault ships and was sunk…
Shortly after:
——————————————
<Commander “Analupia” has surrendered!>
<6th Round Complete>
<Winner: Commander “Icarus”!>
<*From the 3rd round onward, the victorious commanders’ fleets will be automatically restored upon battle completion!>
<You can participate in the next battle in 12 hours!>
——————————————
‘They’re telling me to go to sleep.’
Perhaps they decided there was no point in continuing when their precious main fleet was at risk of being shredded.
Since Analupia, my opponent, ultimately declared surrender, I decided to return to base with the two Overseer ships that had surrendered and were now treated as “captured” vessels, separate from the user’s surrender.
———-
Meanwhile, as one might expect, since these scenes were being broadcast to the gallery in real-time (though with a delay of over 5 hours)…
Many users had gathered to watch the gameplay of:
‘Wow! Rank 3!’
‘Wow! The only ranker who passed the preliminaries and is reaping the benefits!’
News spread instantly throughout the entire gallery thanks to these numerous spectators. Of course, the scene in question wasn’t about Icarus’s “awesome fleet maneuvers worthy of a legend,” but rather about the ships that suddenly surrendered mid-battle and the “Superhumans” involved.

Title: WTF ships surrendering on their own?

Is this for real?
How is a user supposed to respond when ships suddenly surrender like this lol
Comments:
-[At least they just fled there. Imagine if they suddenly started shooting at their own commander’s fleet from behind while you’re in the middle of a formation battle lol]
-˪[Oh shit]
-[But why did they desert in the first place?]
-˪[Don’t know, the parties involved aren’t talking] (Author)
-[Sweet deal for Icarus~]
-[That’s really unfortunate, though I guess it wouldn’t have changed the outcome]
-[Suddenly losing two SSS-grade medium cruisers damn lol]
——————————————
The general reaction in the gallery could be summarized as “Icarus got lucky while Analupia got royally screwed.”
Consequently, users who initially didn’t understand what had happened predominantly expressed sympathy for user Analupia, who had suddenly been dealt a bad hand.
Moreover, this wasn’t the only instance of such an occurrence in the “Icarus vs Analupia” battle.

Title: Wow, these sudden mid-battle surrenders are popping up everywhere

Besides that, there are all sorts of events happening everywhere – ships that were bombarding from the rear suddenly team-killing allied ships in defensive formation at the front line, or Superhumans attacking other Superhumans and escaping on shuttles.
Everyone needs to manage their Superhumans and ships properly
Whatever it is, some kind of annoying event trigger seems to be activating right now
Comments:
-[Damn, I lost a ship I cherished because of this and it sucks]
-˪[What did you lose?] (Author)
-˪[An SS-grade cruiser-battleship. It’s not frontline material anymore but I’m still pissed about losing it]
-[Superhumans are running away too?]
-˪[Yep] (Author)
-[What kind of crappy event are they running now, operatooor!]

Title: Cases of sudden surrenders or team-killing during battles are increasing exponentially

From what we’ve seen so far, these incidents are starting to happen one by one among users who’ve passed the 5th round in the tournament
Some users experience it, some don’t – it varies widely
But there are already over 100 reported cases
From what I can tell, it seems to depend on Superhuman goodwill or psychological state
It doesn’t seem like ships are rebelling on their own
At least there haven’t been any cases involving ships without Superhumans on board, so it’s definitely related to Superhumans
Comments:
-[So it’s a Superhuman issue?]
-[Aren’t the ships just rebelling?]
-˪[As I wrote in the post, there haven’t been any reported cases of ships rebelling without Superhumans on board] (Author)
-[Seems like it’s because of the goodwill system update]
-˪[Oh right, that was a thing]
-˪[Wasn’t that just supposed to add events?]
-˪[Well, this is technically an event too lol]
——————————————
The battle between Icarus and Analupia was just the beginning.
With hundreds of rebellions and defections being reported across the gallery in an instant,
Users were thrown into confusion, wondering if this was the “goodwill and event system update” the operators had mentioned.
And as Superhuman rebellions and insubordination continued to emerge one after another,
Users were causing all sorts of commotion as they hurriedly checked their Superhumans’ goodwill levels before proceeding with the event tournament.
———-
However, amid all the commotion from various users, some users, despite being “victims,”
Remained strangely silent, hoping this incident would quietly blow over.
Of course, some users found this behavior puzzling,
But since the parties involved weren’t talking, the puzzlement remained just that.
However, the day after this great confusion erupted:
——————————————
Title: These bastards whose Superhumans rebelled are all fucking perverts

How can you call yourselves human
You fucking bastards
I was wondering what was going on when a Superhuman surrendered after arriving on a shuttle, and holy shit
How could you do this to a Superhuman who looks like a child?
Are you even human, you bastards?
Comments:
-[What the hell]
-[???]
-[What?]
-[Wait, someone’s been doing human body modifications?]
-[Can’t those modifications be done pretty easily?]
-˪[Damn, the second one just loaded for me. What the hell is that?]
-˪[Suddenly concerned]
——————————————
When the “rebellious” Superhumans revealed the true nature of various “sexual deviants” that had been hidden until now,
Most users, who had been living in blissful ignorance, had to endure a time of great confusion from what amounted to unexpected exposure to disturbing content.
