And finally, three days later, the day of the main tournament.

    “Our battle begins now…!”

“That’s quite a determined statement, Commander.”

After three days of sufficient sleep, rest, and meals while strategizing, we were about to head to the main event map with renewed determination, but…

    —————————————–

    <Notice!>

<Commanders who passed the preliminaries cannot participate in the first round of the main tournament!>

<You may participate from the third round after the first and second rounds are completed. We ask for your understanding on this matter!>

    <Current Round: First Round>

    —————————————–

    “Oh my.”

    “We didn’t think of that.”

Perhaps it’s because we survived and passed the preliminaries.

The system is refusing to let us enter the first round of the main tournament.

    -“Commander? Is there a problem?”

-“Commander, weren’t we going in right away?”

Naturally, when I suddenly stopped, the superhumans and officers who were filled with killing intent and ready for a full-scale offensive sent communications with confused tones.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, I sat back down at the command post.

    “Um… let’s take a break!”

“We can’t go in right away, so the entire fleet will take a short break~”

    -“Huh?”

-“Understood, entire fleet on break until further notice!”

I decided to leisurely check the gallery and browse through the first round broadcasts.

    ———-

Of course, the moment I opened the community window to look at the gallery, I suddenly wondered if “broadcasts” weren’t possible for this event.

So I abandoned my previous thoughts and was about to just look at the random chatter that typically appears in the gallery, but…

When I actually opened the gallery, hundreds and thousands of surprisingly competent “broadcasts” were popping up all over the place.

Moreover, when I clicked on one of the most legitimate-looking broadcast posts, surprisingly, it was transmitting video in real-time as if someone was streaming…

…or more precisely, to prevent opponents from watching the footage and countering, the battles were being shown with a 2-3 hour delay.

    Comments:

    -[You’re doing great, fighting!]

-[The winning side is our side]

-˪[But if they win, they’ll have to fight us]

-˪[There’s still the second round, so we can cheer for the winning side to die then]

    -˪[Ah]

    —————————————–

While all sorts of random comments were popping up like that.

Of course, since those comments had no nutritional value, I simply ignored them and decided to focus on the content of the video.

And the battle I started focusing on was clearly on a much larger scale than before, just as the organizers had announced.

Most importantly, unlike previous event map battles, users weren’t just deploying their main forces but seemed to have forces they could expend freely.

    -BOOM!!

    -KWANG! KWANG!

    -SWOOOOSH…KUGUGUGUGUNG!

    ‘My goodness, how noisy.’

Those freely expendable forces = mercenary corps and faction delegations = forces that automatically recover when destroyed and don’t damage the user’s mental state.

As a result, the users’ battle style was much more intense than in previous event map battles.

Just look at the real-time (not really) broadcast footage I was watching.

Despite bombardments raining down from the perspective of the person filming, cruisers presumed to be from hired mercenary corps charged forward while spewing black smoke after being hit.

Destroyers attempting to flank under cover fire from both sides were exploding two or three ships at a time.

In space, hundreds or thousands of missiles and torpedoes scattered dazzling flashes in all directions as they were intercepted by beams and shells.

This was the most spectacular user-versus-user battle in any event map so far, and it was truly a feast for the eyes.

Of course, those two could be mortal enemies, or just straightforward men fighting mindlessly.

At this point, I quietly turned off the video and decided to browse other posts to see if what I saw was typical.

Unfortunately or fortunately, other users weren’t particularly sparing with their fleets either.

In one place, a large aircraft carrier had a aviation cruiser ram into its flight deck, becoming lodged like a cross.

Yet even in that state, the CIWS and other close defense systems of both sides were engaged in a bizarre battle.

Elsewhere, someone brought out a “Super Dreadnought” that was released during the 4th anniversary event and was using a single ship to counter the opponent’s mercenary fleet.

Another user apparently assumed that the fleet bombardment would be handled by mercenary corps and faction delegations.

Even as their main force was being pummeled into a miserable state, they deployed small ships with special purposes carrying superhumans for “ship capture.”

And they actually succeeded in capturing ships.

It was creating such a chaotic mess that viewers couldn’t help but think, “Well, this is quite the confusing situation.”

The scenes automatically, or rather reflexively, made such comments emerge from all over.

Naturally, seeing such scenes, users remaining in the gallery watching the broadcast posts—

Users like me who passed the preliminaries and “had nothing better to do”—began making a fuss over the fierce battles shown in the broadcasts.

Title: Wow, this event is pretty intense?

    Author: ㅇㅇ

Content: [Screenshot of one user’s dreadnought firing a full barrage, sinking 5 ships at once, but more than twice that number rushing in to ram it.jpg]

All sorts of crazy things are happening besides that

Like loading superhumans onto missiles and detonating them on enemy ships

And those superhumans deployed through impact, with only about 4-5 per ship

    They’ve become human bombs

    Comments:

    -[Please forgive us, Superhuman teachers!]

    -˪[LOL]

    -˪[Ooh, that’s a good explosion]

    —————————————–

And this atmosphere continued after the first round ended and a short break was taken.

The “second round” that followed showed the same intense back-and-forth fighting.

However, separate from the intensity, perhaps because the break time between the first and second rounds was so insufficient.

Contrary to expectations, the second round battles were, how should I put it…

Battles that “took it easy” at a level similar to “previous events,” giving viewers a strange feeling.

Of course, unlike the first round, the second round had its reasons.

    —————————————–

Title: Ugh, why is everyone so timid in the second round

    Author: ㅇㅇ

Content: [Animated gif capturing part of the second round battle footage.jpg]

The mercenary corps are still blowing up battleships

Maybe it’s because they’ll have to fight us soon

I don’t particularly want them to go harder here

But these guys are being too cautious with their user forces compared to the first round, making it all awkward

    Comments:

-[The time between the first and second rounds is barely even a day]

    -˪[Oh really?](Author)

    -˪[Yeah]

-˪[So they’re being cautious because they haven’t fully recovered the forces they lost in the first round]

-[In the first round, they fought with gritted teeth because they couldn’t afford to be eliminated here]

-[In the second round, it’s like “Okay, I’ve made it through somewhat” + as the comment above said, they’re being cautious because their forces haven’t recovered]

    -˪[Exactly]

    —————————————–

To summarize all these miscellaneous stories, it basically amounted to “they fought so well that they have no strength left to fight.”

So I nodded my head thinking, “Ah, that makes perfect sense!” and decided to continue watching the broadcasts of other users.
