Ch.585I’m Now Rich in Resources! (2)
by fnovelpia
Of course, those notifications were coming from users trying to “outbid” each other for the resources I had listed on the trading market.
And the result.
—————————————-
<All 5 items of ‘Resources for Sale, Buy Lots’ have been sold!>
<The selling prices for each item are as follows.>
˪<Resources for Sale, Buy Lots (1): 10,034 gold>
˪<Resources for Sale, Buy Lots (2): 10,150 gold>
˪<Resources for Sale, Buy Lots (3): 10,381 gold>
˪<Resources for Sale, Buy Lots (4): 10,475 gold>
˪<Resources for Sale, Buy Lots (5): 10,001 gold>
<Total acquired: 51,041 gold>
<After deducting the 20% marketplace fee, Commander, you will receive 40,832 gold.>
<*Decimal points are automatically discarded.>

‘Why is business going so well?’
Somehow, after listing resources on the trading market, the response was better than I had imagined.
Of course, I was selling them basically at cost, but still, this speed was quite impressive.
And looking at how the gold increased from items 1 through 4, it seemed that quite a few users had participated in the auction, engaging in a bidding war.
I couldn’t help but feel that the response was better than expected.
Though for the last one, number 5, it looks like the bidding war got too intense, and some sneaky person swooped in at the last second with a 1 gold increase and snatched it up…
‘Whatever, it doesn’t matter either way.’
What was important was that business was going better than expected.
I thought it would be good to continue selling resources like this every week and stock up on plenty of gold.
Of course, I could make even more gold if I raised my prices to account for the marketplace fees rather than selling at cost…
‘Do I really need to do that? Honestly, I’m earning too much gold as it is.’
While I couldn’t compare to the massive clans, I was already swimming in gold to the point where I could engage in some insane cash splurging for an individual user.
I decided to just go with the flow and make a mental note to continue listing items at a reasonable “market price” in the future.
Still, considering how quickly the auctions ended for all items except number 5, with such passionate bidding…
I couldn’t understand why there was such a good response, and I felt question marks floating above my head once again.
==========
The answer to Icarus’s question was actually quite simple.
While our Ica-Ica Icarus was selling resources in units of 1 million and still upgrading and repairing his base and outposts without a care, he had forgotten one important fact…

When the hell am I supposed to finish building all this and proceed to level 10?
Resource income rate is absolute garbage.

-˪[Even with that, it’s not enough](Author)
-˪[There’s a limit to how much extra resources you get from docking at outposts, you idiot]
-[Use forward bases, and if you’re desperate, scrap some mercenary units or ships you don’t use]
-[Just put your capital ships into resource harvesting fleets lol]
-˪[Cruisers are actually pretty decent since their speed is surprisingly similar to destroyers]

Basically, the resource income for each Commander’s base in this world was quite tight in many ways.
As a result, most users couldn’t even earn 500,000 resources in pure profit per week, let alone 1 million.
Of course, there were users other than Icarus who could earn plenty of resources, but…

Title: Why is resource income so difficult for you guys?

I see rankers and other people already hitting level 10 and doing all sorts of things.
How can I progress that quickly?
I want to reach awesome level 10 quickly and roll around with freaking awesome dreadnoughts too.
Comments:
-[Users who’ve reached level 10 basically have something backing them]
-˪[Backing them?](Author)
-˪[Yeah, if you’ve seen them, you’d know they’re all either part of a major clan or clan leaders themselves]
-[If someone’s reached level 10 now, they either received clan support or captured an outpost level 5 or higher…]
-˪[Is that so?]
-[That’s pretty difficult to do;;]
-[If you want to do it, you need to capture an outpost level 5 or higher and get lots of user dockings]
-[Even then it takes months]
-˪[Holy crap, does it take that long?](Author)
-˪[Yeah, just the auxiliary buildings for base level 9 require millions of minerals and hundreds of thousands of rare resources]
-˪[That’s insane](Author)

Title: Updated collection of users confirmed to have reached base level 10.jpg

Since people were asking how to reach level 10, I thought this would be good timing to post this.
Let me be straight with you – if you’ve reached level 10 now?
You must either belong to a clan, or even if you don’t, you must be in a position to earn resources on a scale comparable to one.
Or you need access to dock at high-level outposts.
The problem is that most high-level outposts level 7 and above have been captured by clans.
And clans prioritize giving spots to their own members, not to random strangers, right?
Oh, well, that Icarus guy does offer his outpost to anyone who isn’t hostile to him, but the problem is that it’s right in the center of the central zone.
Getting there is a challenge in itself, damn it lol.
And other places, apart from the system-determined fees, ask for additional weird payments.
So surviving alone isn’t that easy.
Comments:
-[Sob, that’s sad]
-[Isn’t there somewhere better;]
-˪[That would be Daedalus, which Icarus captured](Author)
-˪[You said it’s hard to get there, isn’t there anywhere else?]
-˪[Find that out yourself, you idiot]

Unfortunately, such users were, with 99% probability, the so-called “top rankers.”
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say they had little to do with most ordinary users.
Anyway, the important thing was that, as shown above, most users were currently in a situation where resources were “veeeery” scarce.
In contrast, gold was so abundant in the market that the management team was secretly planning to reduce it behind the scenes.
So when our Icarus sold a total of 1.1 million resources at the “cost price” of 10,000 gold, users who were already struggling with resources rushed in like mushrooms after rain.
Unaware of these circumstances and not particularly interested in finding out, our Icarus just tilted his head a few times in confusion.
“Ah, there are many strange people in the world.”
“That does seem to be the case.”
And so he continued to joke around with his adjutant Jessica, focusing on his own business as always.
