Ch.583Pierant of Spiraena.
by fnovelpia
Looking back, Barracuda has always been strangely lacking in presence among my bases.
But honestly, that was quite natural when you think about it.
I mean, what “outstanding” episodes have ever connected me with Barracuda?
At most, the guy I appointed as the first village chief of Barracuda tried to backstab me and start a rebellion right after being appointed, then got expelled. Besides that, there wasn’t much connection.
Of course, by others’ standards…
“Commander, wouldn’t you say Barracuda has had enough memorable incidents…?”
Just as Jessica beside me was saying, it’s true that one could argue, “Isn’t that enough to be memorable???”
“Jessica, you forgot about it too.”
“Well, nobody in this world can be perfect.”
Unfortunately, by “our” standards, Barracuda’s lack of presence was unavoidable.
After all, look at how deeply I’m connected to the other bases.
Avalon and Tannhäuser were essentially my first and second “capitals” where I personally docked.
Spiralis transformed my territory from a “triangle” to a “triangular pyramid,” inadvertently providing the foundation for today’s “meme” collection.
Separately, it also had the symbolic significance of being the only base that was “nearly captured by an external invasion.”
Compared to that, a mere story about one village chief attempting a rebellion wasn’t significant enough to occupy much space in my memory.
Besides, this is entirely my fault, but if I had hired a mercenary corps for the base, things might have been different.
As other bases hired mercenary corps and exponentially increased their presence, our poor Barracuda’s already lacking presence plummeted even further.
To make matters worse, while other bases had “base mercenary corps” periodically reminding everyone of their existence, Barracuda had no mercenary corps, causing its presence to drop even more.
The result was the current situation, which felt twisted in a truly mind-boggling way.
Of course, that’s all in the past now…

<Fleet composition when hiring a mercenary corps is as follows:>
<Base Level x100 points>
<Current Base Level: 5>
<The mercenary corps’ fleet will be adjusted to “500 points”>
<Commander: ???>
<A random assignment will be made when you hire a mercenary corps.>
<Note that the mercenary corps commander may or may not be a Superhuman.>
… … … … … …
—————————————–
“The unbearable void at Barracuda ends now. I shall hire mercenaries at last…!”
“That’s a joke you haven’t made in quite a while.”
Now that Barracuda will finally have its own base mercenary corps, all is well.
==========
A moment later.
With a bouncy, unidentifiable sound effect, a message appeared before my eyes confirming that Barracuda’s base mercenary corps had been hired.
—————————————-
<Barracuda Logistics Supply Base Mercenary Corps Hiring Confirmed!>
<Hired Mercenary Corps: Spiraena Security Force>
<Mercenary Corps Commander: Fierant>
—————————————-
-Whoooosh…Bang!
-“Commander, unidentified warp signatures detected in front of the base.”
“Ah, those are the mercenaries I called. Don’t worry too much about it.”
-“Understood. Deactivating base security measures!”
With that message, the ‘Spiraena Security Force’ and ‘Fierant’ appeared through the same entrance structure as Alcasar, revealing themselves at Barracuda…
“Oh, that’s…”
“Light aircraft carriers? It’s been a while since that ship class joined us.”
—————————————-
<Spiraena Security Force>
<Fleet Composition>
<Light Aircraft Carriers 5, Heavy Cruisers 8, Light Cruisers 5, Destroyers 25, Escort Ships 8, Patrol Ships 3>
<Commander: Fierant>
—————————————–
The point issue was just that Alcasar had an abnormally high amount.
Since the normal rate was 100 points per level, I didn’t need to worry too much about that, but…
‘Light carriers, huh? It’s been a while since I’ve seen those.’
In the distant past, when I couldn’t even dock at a base and had to make do with just the Kraken and Overseer.
When I was single-handedly pulling off 1:5 ratios and showing off my unrivaled skills—seeing this ship class that reminded me of those days.
I found myself caught in a strange reminiscence, thinking about how those days had a certain romance compared to the insane scale of things nowadays.
Of course, that wasn’t important right now, so I quickly shook my head to clear away the messy memories of the past.
I decided to continue watching the Spiraena Security Force appearing through the warp.
But as I looked at the fleet composition screen of the security force that continued to appear, I suddenly realized something.
“…With the Spiraena Security Force here, the previously lacking middle section of our fleet is now filled.”
“You’re right. If we’d known, we should have hired them sooner.”
That’s right.
With 5 light carriers handling fleet air defense and interception, while simultaneously bringing various other ships from heavy cruisers to patrol ships.
I unexpectedly found myself facing the pleasant surprise of having the lower section of my large fleet naturally resolved.
“Sweet.”
“Ribbit?”
“No, I said ‘sweet.'”
“Ah.”
I decided to welcome the commander of Spiraena, “Fierant,” in a somewhat different sense than I had with Alcasar and Austria.
==========
And since we were already holding a welcome ceremony for Austria, we decided to hold one for Fierant at the same time…
“…Hmm, I see only women here.”
“That wasn’t intentional.”
“Well, they say heroes are often womanizers, so I understand.”
“I said it wasn’t intentional.”
Interestingly, Fierant was setting a new record as the first male mercenary corps commander among all those who had appeared so far.
‘Ah, finally a proper man joining this female-dominated workplace.’
Of course, Fierant himself seemed quite displeased with the fact that everyone welcoming him, except for me, was female…
“Are there really only women here?”
“It just happened that way, so accept it gracefully.”
“Ugh…”
Whether he liked it or not, Fierant was never given a choice in the matter.
“I heard you came from Barracuda. As fellow newcomers, let’s get along.”
“Ah, yes… eek!”
I had him meet Austria, who had exhibitionist tendencies, first to help him build immunity for the numerous female commanders he would meet in the future.
Of course, perhaps because the destructive impact was too strong from the start, Fierant showed a peculiar expression, unable to even manage his facial reactions properly.
Fortunately, after a while, Bendalof, who had briefly left to fetch Partia, appeared at the welcome ceremony in his “battle mode” form.
“Ah, there’s still hope after all!”
“Huh?”
“Although his outfit is quite unusual… at least there are other men here too.”
“Hmm.”
Seemingly overwhelmed by all the women, Fierant quickly went over to Bendalof and Partia to chat with them.
But unfortunately, right after that.
“Hehe, I was originally a man too, but after taking a TS potion, I became like this.”
“What? Wait, what does that—”
“Hnngh! Hyah!”
-Poof!
“Hehehe, these days I find it more comfortable to go around in this form.”
“Aieeeee!!! Why woman, why womaaaan!”
Upon witnessing a muscular handsome man (who was actually female) suddenly transform into a 130cm horned little girl.
Our Commander Fierant appeared to be suffering from acute Girl Reality Shock (GRS).
