By the way, in the midst of that brilliant battle, there were exactly three people who didn’t participate in the combat.

    Two of them were obviously the weak(?) civilians—myself as the Commander and Jessica who assists me.

    But as for the remaining one…

    “Tiamat, you have no intention of going down there?”

    “Commander, there’s no point in me going down there.”

    Tiamat, who had the strange debuff of decreasing physical abilities with each level up, was the last one.

    Of course, even with those decreased stats, she was still faaaar better than the C~D rank Superhumans in the superhuman corps.

    The problem was that due to Tiamat’s character structure, she was severely limited in what she could do without carrier aircraft.

    Unlike other Superhumans, she could only dabble in martial arts at best, and couldn’t provide buffs to other Superhumans like Berial, Decarabia, or Griyanar.

    Consequently, Tiamat A.K.A. Miss No-Panties, who followed the no-underwear health method(?), came with us to the cruiser in the rear.

    She was leisurely watching the monsters being sliced apart while feeling the shockwaves from Dornia and the cruiser captain’s extremely satisfying orbital bombardment.

    Anyway, what mattered now was that we had essentially completed the event by taking down that massive monster.

    With nothing more to do, we rescued the destroyer and assault troops who were swallowed whole by the monster but somehow survived inside.

    Then, with a light and cheerful feeling, we set course to return to the base.

    ==========

    After returning to the base.

    -“Commander, I have something to report.”

    “What is it?”

    -“The cruiser’s exterior has been severely deformed and will need separate repairs.”

    “…Dornia?”

    “I apologize, I seem to have gotten too excited with the firing.”

    After putting the cruiser—which had essentially become moderately damaged due to Dornia’s excessive handling while providing ground support during the event battle—into the shipyard, I decided to immediately use the “Ancient Empire Enhancement Chip” we received as an event reward.

    As soon as I chose to use it, a status window popped up before my eyes.

    —————————————–

    <Ancient Empire Technology Enhancement Data Slate Usage Confirmed>

    <Current ‘Ancient Empire’ ship owned by Commander: Neranjara-class Subspace Submersible x1>

    <Technology Enhancement Slate detected…>

    <Check complete>

    <The following enhancements are available for the Neranjara-class Subspace Submersible:>

    ˪<Firepower Enhancement>

    ˪<Submersion Time Enhancement>

    ˪<Submersion Ability Enhancement>

    <Warning!>

    <Once you make a selection, the data slate will be automatically deleted and cannot be reversed, so please think carefully before making your choice!>

    —————————————–

    “Hmmmm.”

    “Can I only choose one of these?”

    “That’s right, and once you choose, you can’t go back.”

    “I see…”

    The fact that I could only enhance one thing felt extremely “stingy” to me.

    But thinking about it again, it was actually pretty good since I was getting a permanent enhancement equipment for my ship for free without taking up an existing equipment slot.

    So I put aside my complaining thoughts in a corner of my brain and calmly started thinking about “which one would be best?”

    And checking the options carefully:

    —————————————–

    <Firepower Enhancement>

    <Increases the firepower of the ‘Space Torpedoes’ used by the Neranjara-class Subspace Submersible!>

    ˪<When selected: ‘Space Torpedo’ firepower +20%>

    —————————————–

    —————————————–

    <Submersion Time Enhancement>

    <Modifies and strengthens the subspace ballast and various mechanical parts of the Neranjara-class Subspace Submersible to increase submersion time!>

    ˪<When selected: Neranjara-class subspace submersion time +10%>

    —————————————–

    —————————————–

    <Submersion Ability Enhancement>

    <Allows the Neranjara-class Subspace Submersible to put its entire hull, including the ‘periscope’, into subspace for a short time!>

    ˪<However, this method is limited to a maximum of 5 minutes.>

    —————————————–

    The first two were whatever, but the last one was, well…

    It felt somewhat different from what I expected, making me tilt my head in confusion.

    “Can that really be called ‘Submersion Ability Enhancement’?”

    “I guess it means the Neranjara-class, which was basically like a semi-submersible, can now fully submerge…?”

    But after tilting my head for a moment, I suddenly realized how broken the third enhancement was, and let out an exclamation of “Ah!”

    “Wait a minute, that’s insane! Does this mean it can penetrate through a base’s outer walls and go inside?!”

    “Huh…?”

    “Wow!”

    That’s right.

    Originally, no matter how much the Neranjara was in subspace, it was impossible to just slip into the interior of a “base.”

    This was because it had to expose its periscope to real space for the ship to assess the situation, which prevented it from passing through physical barriers.

    And if it lowered the periscope too, the Neranjara wouldn’t know where it was in subspace = losing the means to transition from subspace to real space.

    This was why our Neranjara, despite intense leveling and having an incredibly competent captain, ended up providing only “somewhat ambiguous support” when deployed in battle.

    But if we choose this option over the others?

    ‘Draw aggro in combat, then infiltrate the base or command center with the Neranjara and deploy Superhumans… victory!’

    This would be an even more broken ability than the Kraken-Hresvelgr strategic missile teleport combination that had been considered the principle of certain victory in my fleet.

    ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’

    It was only natural for Jessica and me to exclaim “Whoooa” when we saw this.

    Of course, we were also concerned that we might be misunderstanding something, so we ran appropriate simulations on the base computer and did various other checks.

    Following the wisdom of our ancestors to “test a stone bridge before crossing it,” we took time to conduct thorough investigations.

    And after intense research confirming that the last option was the most efficient:

    —————————————–

    <You have selected ‘Submersion Ability Enhancement’!>

    <The Neranjara-class can now move with its entire hull, including the ‘periscope’, submerged in subspace for up to 5 minutes!>

    —————————————–

    “Yay~Yay~”

    “I don’t know what kind of cheer that is, but this will let the Neranjara-class run wild for a while longer.”

    I was deeply moved seeing my joker pick, which I had never revealed to any other user, become even stronger in its specialty.

    And besides, I was just finished early.

    Since the event itself was still ongoing, I decided to go to the gallery to see what foolish things our fun gallery users were up to.
