Ch.553Daedalus Refugee Camp(?)
by fnovelpia
Of course, while they were called refugees, not all the users who had flocked here were in the same situation.
“Hmmmm, Jessica, can you assess the status of the refugees who’ve gathered here using the radar?”
“Yes, the graviton radar and all the base’s radar and sensor systems are functioning perfectly.”
“Then if there are any users out there who brought their ships, Superhumans, and gacha systems… I mean dimensional causality fixation systems, let those folks in first.”
“Understood, Commander.”
First, I decided to let in the users who seemed to have had their “bases” blown up, so they could help with the restoration of the base.
Then I began to carefully examine the situation of the remaining users through the radar.
And as I continued looking while also checking the gallery, I discovered another unexpected fact.

Title: Users Gathered at Daedalus Are Quite Interesting
Author: Anonymous
Content: [2,000+ user fleet ships gathered near Daedalus base, entering one or two at a time after getting permission.jpg]
They didn’t rush in all at once, but are sneaking in only after the defense systems were somewhat repaired
Why are they asking to be let in after waiting 4 days?
If that’s the case, couldn’t they have just rushed in when Icarus first took Daedalus and asked for babysitting?
Comments:
-[If they did that, the Leviathan Fleet that Icarus has been saving would have smashed their heads in]
-[With most of the defense facilities and forces gone, and only the fortress cannons and a handful of defense fleets remaining]
-˪[You think 2-3 thousand user fleets should just rush in?]
-˪[As the comment above says, they’d either have a chat with the Leviathan Fleet or the Million Mercenary Corps. Are you kidding?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
-[Anyone would be on edge in that situation. If you just barge in asking to be accepted, don’t you think the fortress cannons would be aimed at you?]
-˪[Fine, I get it. Stop commenting, the notifications are exploding](Author)
-˪[ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
-[Say one wrong thing and get comment-bombed]
-˪[Sigh, damn it]

Title: Upvote if You’re a User Who Didn’t Come Because You Thought It Was at Capacity ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Author: RefugeeProtector
Content: [Image of a smirking toad]
Everyone previously thought it was already at capacity so users from outside settlements couldn’t enter
But now that Daedalus has been taken and the territory has expanded significantly, refugees are starting to flock to Icarus’s territory ㅋㅋㅋ
Comments:
-[You’re ruthlessly attacking with facts]
-[Stop fighting cowardly with facts, let’s fight honorably with propaganda and agitation!]
-[So you’re saying they should have charged in right after Daedalus was taken when the user was on edge? ㅋㅋㅋ]
-[As mentioned in another post, if they had done something that stupid]
-˪[Their fleets, already damaged from events, would have been crushed by either the Leviathan Fleet or the Million Mercenary Corps]
-[But everyone already knows Icarus can’t use the Leviathan or the mercenary corps for long, right?](Author)
-˪[Even without the Leviathan Fleet or mercenary corps, would you charge into a place where fortress cannons would definitely take out at least one of you?]
-˪[Or would you rather raid the bases of users who got their fleets destroyed by Icarus?]
-˪[Now that I hear it, you’re right. I have no counterargument](Author)

Surprisingly, it turned out our mischievous users had actually been considerate toward us in their own way.
‘My, what wonderful users.’
Seeing such unexpected stories, I could feel quite complex emotions stirring within me.
Of course, those feelings didn’t last long.
After reading the comments attached to those gallery posts and understanding why the users had waited instead of coming right away,
My already complex emotions plunged into an even deeper abyss of confusion.
==========
Anyway, while letting users into the territory like that,
Or relocating users who had been living in settlements without proper docking, like homeless people, in the Tannhäuser sector,
I suddenly realized one small fact…

<The Most Noble, Great, Sacred, and Only Icarus Republic Official Chat Room>
<Notice: Currently accepting immigrants to Daedalus, apply quickly if you want to go>
-[Whoa]
-[Why can’t we just go directly? Why do we have to gather like this?]
-[They say it’s too far for gateway accuracy, so we have to hitch rides with security fleets when they move through the network]
-[Hmm, got it]
-[By the way, is there still space left in Daedalus?]
-[With over 2,000 new users coming in, I don’t think there will be space left]
-[What are you talking about? Daedalus has over 10,000 docking points]
-[Even after all the new users and existing users dock, there will still be space leftㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
-[Wow, really?]
-[Yep, for real]
—————————————–
As that informative chat showed, I realized that the “docking points” at this Daedalus Research Fortress were overflowing.
To be precise, even after accommodating all the incoming personnel and the mass docking of existing settlement users…
“Commander, about the Commanders currently docked at Daedalus.”
“What is it, Jessica?”
“Even though most of those Commanders have docked at Daedalus, we still have plenty of docking points remaining.”
“We still have docking points left?”
“Yes, at least 7-8 thousand? Maybe more?”
“…That’s more docking points than I expected.”
With so many docking points available at Daedalus,
For me, who had been talking about selecting users, this was like unexpected rain on a dry day.
And when calculating roughly how many users could live in Daedalus including these surplus docking points…
“…12,000?”
“That’s approximate, so we’d need to count carefully, but it’s around that number.”
“That’s incredible.”
A whopping 12,000 docking points.
That was more than 5 times the number of docking points at Tannhäuser, which had previously been my largest base.
‘This is amazing!’
Jessica and I were absolutely astonished at such an incredible number.
==========
Of course, this astonishment didn’t last long.
As I was about to post this on the gallery to brag while crying “Whoooooa!”,
‘Wait a minute, what if other places are like this too? I’ll just look like an idiot.’
With that thought naturally crossing my mind, I decided to search the gallery first before posting.
And sure enough…

Title: So Icarus Took a Level 9 Base, Right?
Author: Anonymous
Content: [A toad in a tuxedo looking at the screen with a mysterious expression.jpg]
But how many docking points does it have?
Like over 50,000?
If so, users who’ve been hesitating will flood in to dock there
Comments:
-[Not quite]
-[When Humanity mentioned users docked at Balthasar last time, they said there were over 20,000, so probably around that?]
-˪[That’s because Balthasar is a harbor-type base, so it has way more docking points than others of the same level]
-˪[?](Author)
-˪[A level 9 base probably has between 10,000 and 15,000 docking points]
-˪[I see](Author)
-[Expecting between 10,000 and 12,000]
-[It won’t exceed 15,000 at most]
-[Since what Icarus took is a research fortress, it might actually have fewer docking points]
—————————————–
There were many other miscellaneous discussions like these,
But ultimately, our 12,000 points turned out to be just a “typical average figure,”
Which naturally calmed my excitement and brought about a remarkably subdued atmosphere.
