Fortunately, finding a village chief for Tannhäuser wasn’t particularly difficult.

Unlike other bases that suffered headaches over the village chief employment(?) issue, Tannhäuser already had its own self-management structure among the docked users.

<Notice: We ate Daedalus so our President is the only legitimate ruler>

-[The title gets more unhinged the longer this goes on]

    -[But it’s true, isn’t it?]

-[We’ve got a new village chief now]

    -[Oh?]

-[You know that mercenary agency in Tannhäuser]

    -[Yeah]

-[They said the agencies are forming a clan, and the clan leader will be the representative]

    -[That’s something something something]

    —————————————–

As those reactions showed, Tannhäuser’s management structure consisted of mercenary “agency” users who arranged employment for mercenary users.

At first, I wondered if Tannhäuser’s users would accept them, given their somewhat middle-management(?) status.

But either the agencies had a tighter grip on the mercenaries than expected, or for whatever reason, determining Tannhäuser’s village chief went much more smoothly than anticipated.

<Notice: Our village chief has been decided!>

-[You say it’s decided but don’t tell us who it is;;]

    -[Haha sorry]

    -[Wait, changing it now]

<NEW Notice: ‘Schmeling-Weiss’ has been selected as Tannhäuser’s village chief>

    -[Huh?]

    -[Wasn’t that person an agency?]

    -[Yeah]

-[They said the agency users who reside here formed a clan, and the clan leader became the village chief]

    -[Not a bad idea]

-[Honestly, those folks are better at managing people anyway, so whatever works]

-[So now we get kicked out of Tannhäuser if we don’t kiss the clan leader’s feet?]

-[If they pull that kind of stunt, Icarus will kick out the clan leader]

    -[For real lol]

    —————————————–

Of course, unlike the smooth and calm reactions from Tannhäuser’s “mercenary” users, the “agency” users themselves had somewhat mixed feelings about it.

There was a lot of back and forth, but ultimately the person in question’s opinion could be summarized as follows:

    <Republic Village Chief Meeting Room>

<Notice: Simple inquiries here, and don’t change the room title weirdly>

-[It’s not like we’ve run a clan of 100+ members like Vermut from Ersangs](Tannhäuser Village Chief)

-[We only created the clan out of necessity, we don’t even have a clan leader and executives structure like other clans](Tannhäuser Village Chief)

-[I mean, I guess it’s not bad, but still…](Tannhäuser Village Chief)

-[Just another WWE as usual](Barracuda Village Chief)

    -[-_-](Tannhäuser Village Chief)

-[Lololol just give up and accept it](Avalon Village Chief)

Of course, as is always the case with our village chief positions, it wasn’t something one could refuse just because they didn’t want to do it.

    Shortly after…

With that kind of appropriate WWE performance, I was able to neatly hand over the Tannhäuser village chief position.

    ==========

In truth, selecting Tannhäuser’s village chief was relatively easy.

While it’s true that there were over 2,000 users docked at Tannhäuser, most of them were “mercenary users” who tended to wander around frequently, so they didn’t really care who became village chief.

In fact, as seen in the Tannhäuser mercenary chat room earlier, they actually welcomed the village chief I appointed.

But unlike Tannhäuser, the other bases—like the newly captured Level 4 base for route development, or the Level 3 escort bases assigned to guard Daedalus—were in very different situations.

The Level 3 escort bases were at least in specific locations, and being only Level 3, they didn’t attract many users beyond those who had previously been at Level 1-2 bases.

Unfortunately, the Level 4 supply base “Tomsk,” located between Daedalus and Tannhäuser with many resource zones nearby, was a different story.

<Notice: We ate Daedalus so our President is the only legitimate ruler>

-[Are there any docking points left in Tomsk?]

    -[They’re all gone already]

    -[Oh no]

-[No, there are still about 10 spots left]

    -[Those are gone too now]

    -[Wow]

    —————————————–

With competition this fierce and user interest this high, you can imagine what kind of disaster would unfold when trying to select a village chief for such a lively place.

    —————————————–

<Official Chat Room of the Most Noble, Great, Sacred, and Only Icarus Republic>

<Notice: We ate Daedalus so our President is the only legitimate ruler>

-[If you elect me as Tomsk’s village chief! I’ll distribute 10,000 gold to every docked user!]

-[Wait, this suddenly feels like a political election;]

-[Are we electing a class president?]

    -[T-Tomsk’s village chief sh-should be decided by m-majority vote…]

    -[Haha what a mess]

    —————————————–

Ironically, unlike Tannhäuser where no one wanted the job because it seemed too overwhelming, Tomsk’s village chief position had everyone thinking “this could be good?” with so much enthusiasm overflowing that selecting someone became incredibly difficult.
