Ch. 55 Soft and Fluffy Sky Island
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 55 – Soft and Fluffy Sky Island
The first thing I noticed was the cool breeze blowing gently.
The wind, mixed with a faint warmth, brushed against my cheeks and softly caressed the hair that had fallen over my forehead.
“Ugh…”
Despite the pleasant breeze, my body felt stiff and sore. It reminded me of the times I had slept on the hard ground.
As my senses returned, fragmented memories began to surface.
The sudden light appeared and my body soaring into the sky, were the last things I remembered.
Once I regained my senses, the first thing I checked was the condition of my body. I
moved my arms and legs, then pulled up my character status to see my overall state.
“Phew…”
Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with my body.
After confirming my safety, I looked around.
Rustle—
The gentle breeze swayed the branches of the trees around me. The lush green leaves shimmered brilliantly under the sunlight.
I had woken up in a forest with an eerie atmosphere.
Sitting on the soft grass, I glanced around for a while. However, there was no sign of Isolin or the other girls.
“Isolin…? Gladys? Nyongmom?”
Just in case, I called out the names of my party members, but no response came. It seemed we had been separated upon arriving in this mysterious place.
I stood up, remaining cautious of my surroundings.
The unfamiliar forest was peaceful overall. As I walked, I listened to the chirping of nameless insects and the occasional songs of birds.
Rustle—!
“Eek…!”
Having always traveled with others, being alone made me jump at even the smallest sounds.
I stared blankly at the small rabbit that had darted out from the bushes.
Flutter-flutter—
[Level 5]
[Fluffy]
The small rabbit with wings, Fluffy, flew through the air. Though not particularly fast, its wings allowed it to reach tree fruits that ordinary rabbits couldn’t.
Fluffy was a non-aggressive monster. True to its appearance, it was gentle and would even approach to nuzzle against your hand if you reached out.
The sight of the fluffy ball of fur wiggling its bottom was utterly adorable. The winged rabbits flew around the forest like drifting clouds.
“Wow…”
If I had been observing this world from behind a monitor, I might have controlled my character to hunt the unfamiliar monsters.
As most RPG players would.
But this world was real. I didn’t want to disturb the peace of this forest.
The next monster I encountered was a large turtle.
The turtles living in the forest were about the size of an adult man, with small fruit-bearing trees growing on their backs.
[Level 12]
[Fruit Turtle]
The Fruit Turtle was also a non-aggressive monster. It didn’t flee when approached and didn’t retaliate even if you climbed onto its back.
I rode the turtle and wandered through the forest.
Creak-creak—
Though the turtles weren’t fast, they were much quicker than my short legs could carry me. The turtle continued deeper into the forest.
“Hey, turtles. Have you seen any other humans besides me in this forest?”
I asked the turtles, just in case. Given how peculiar this place was, I wondered if there were monsters that could understand human speech.
However, the turtle only tilted its long head at my question, offering no clear response.
The Fruit Turtle eventually arrived at a wide pond. Upon reaching the pond, the turtle buried its head in the water and began gulping it down.
I got off the turtle and stared at the center of the pond. There, a house made of large flowers floated.
A pond deep in the forest with a floating house on it? It was suspicious, to say the least.
Moreover, large flower petals floated on the pond, seemingly serving as a bridge to the flower house in the center.
Curious, I tentatively stepped onto one of the petals. The petal wobbled slightly under my weight but showed no signs of sinking.
Before fully stepping onto the petal, I checked the water below. The clear pond revealed only small fish swimming about, with no dangerous monsters in sight.
Finally reassured, I quickly stepped onto the petal.
“Whoa…”
The petal barely supported my weight. It might sink if I jumped around, but it seemed safe as long as I stood still or moved carefully.
I stretched my short legs and carefully made my way toward the flower house.
[Fairy’s Flower House]
A flower house on the pond where fairies live.
Fairies, who are curious and love to play pranks, sometimes create fake houses to enjoy the reactions of visitors.
I nodded as I read the system description. It made sense that only children or small races could live in such a tiny house.
Thinking of Nyongmom, who had become a small girl, I knocked lightly on the door.
Knock-knock—
Despite the knock, there was no response. The lack of movement suggested the owner was either away or, as the system description hinted, the house was fake.
“Hmm…”
Just as I sighed in disappointment, I heard rustling from inside the house. The firmly closed door suddenly swung open with a bang—!
“Who…?”
The one who opened the door was a girl about my height. Her long silver hair shimmered on its own, even without reflecting light, and her star-like golden eyes glowed faintly.
Her pointed ears and transparent wings trailing behind her were clear signs that she wasn’t human.
[Level 20]
[Fairy Lili]
We stared at each other, silently assessing one another. I sensed no hostility or aggressive intent from Lili the fairy.
Her golden eyes sparkled with curiosity and a hint of fondness.
Then, Lili smiled softly and spoke to me.
“What a cute child. Are you lost?”
It seemed she thought I was a lost little girl. Her assumption wasn’t wrong—after all, I was now a 12-year-old girl who had lost her way.
“Uh, yes… I’m looking for my lost friends…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll guide you. But can you play with me for a while?”
[Fairy Lili’s Proposal]
Fairy Lili is bored with the peace of the forest. Spend some enjoyable time playing with her.
Rewards: Lili’s favor, guidance to the human realm, Fairy’s Flower Ring.
The sudden quest offer made it clear that if I refused, I’d have to find my way alone.
“Sure.”
As I nodded in agreement, Lili reached out her hand. I placed my hand on her small palm, and she gently pulled me along.
Following Lili into the flower house, I couldn’t help but think.
Her soft thighs and exposed shoulders in her thin outfit were quite striking. Her cute grass shoes added to her charm.
What Lili needed was someone to talk to. Having lived her entire life in the forest, the little fairy was curious about the outside world.
I sat at a table made of grass, sipping honey tea, and answered Lili’s questions.
“Is it true that humans are always in heat?”
“Well… it varies from individual to individual…”
“What a barbaric species!”
Lili had some prejudices about humans. Aside from the occasional awkward question, her inquiries were mostly innocent.
Lili was particularly interested in human culture. She wanted to know about human food, daily activities, and pastimes.
She was especially fascinated by my clothes, so I gifted her a coat made from the fur of a snowfield wolf I had obtained earlier.
“Wow…”
Lili immediately tried on the coat, clearly pleased. Though tailored to my size, it fit her perfectly.
While the reduced exposure was a bit disappointing, seeing Lili wagging her wolf-like tail was utterly adorable.
[Excitement]
I didn’t need my emotional state broadcasted in real-time. I pinched the glove on my right hand lightly.
“Since you gave me such a wonderful gift, I should return the favor. Let’s see…”
The fluffy Lili jumped up and rummaged through a small wooden box, pulling out various trinkets.
“Ta-da!”
What she held out was a small leather pouch.
“What’s that?”
“It’s a treasure of the fairies!”
[Fairy Dust]
A special powder only fairies can create.
The recipe is a secret.
When mixed with water and consumed, it makes the body lighter.
※Allows flight for 30 seconds.
※Negates fall damage during the duration.
What Lili handed me was a leather pouch filled with white powder.
I looked at the pouch in my hand with a puzzled expression.
A white powder that makes your body lighter when consumed…
It’s not addictive, is it?
With a mix of emotions, I tucked the leather pouch Lili had given me into my inventory.
The conversation with Lili ended after about two hours. Seemingly satisfied, Lili stood up with a soft smile.
“I had a great time today. Thank you for humoring me.”
“No, it was my first time meeting a fairy, so I enjoyed it too.”
This wasn’t a lie. Spending time talking with Lili was genuinely enjoyable.
How could it not be fun to spend time with a small, cute girl?
I nodded as I looked down at Lili’s tiny feet.
“Now, it’s getting late. As promised, I’ll guide you!”
I followed Lili out of the flower house.
Clatter-clatter—
