Ch.54Chapter 54 – The Reunion with Her Was the Worst. (6)
by fnovelpia
The attack is heavy.
That was my first thought as I blocked Beatrice’s leg in mid-air.
But I succeeded in blocking it.
I immediately stretched out my arm to grab Beatrice’s leg, then twisted my body and threw her toward the ground.
-Thud!
With that impact sound, Beatrice fell.
Meanwhile, I was able to land safely somehow since I had changed my posture while throwing Beatrice.
Of course, I immediately rolled on the ground to get away from where I had just been.
-Patter patter
Glass shards fell where I had just been.
And between them, I could see Beatrice getting up.
“Ha.”
I didn’t think this would finish her, but still, she had no injuries despite being thrown from mid-air.
‘Is she a monster?’
As I took my stance, I saw Beatrice grabbing her own head with her hand.
-Crack
As she slightly pulled her head and twisted her neck, I heard the sound of bones realigning.
“Did you think you could subdue me with that?”
“Of course not.”
I had expected this much.
I took a fighting stance.
With no helmet or weapons, all I had left were my fists.
Seeing this, Beatrice smiled.
“Come on.”
She extended one hand, gesturing me to approach.
A clear provocation.
I lunged forward and threw a punch, but Beatrice moved one arm to block my fist.
Then she flexibly extended her leg upward and kicked my abdomen.
The impact wasn’t severe thanks to my armor, but my stance was disrupted, and as if not to miss the opportunity, Beatrice spun backward from her kicking position and launched her other foot.
However, for some reason, the trajectory of her attack was slightly off, so I could easily deflect it, and she retreated immediately without pursuing further.
It was just when I was beginning to think that it would be difficult to subdue her quickly.
“Wow, this is a bit painful…”
Beatrice said, shaking her arm.
“Compared to the test subject in there, you’re a bit stronger?”
Beatrice smiled with hazy eyes.
“You fight pretty well for someone who’s drunk.”
“This is my everyday life~.”
Judging by the smell of alcohol while fighting, she had definitely drunk quite a lot.
Still, I hadn’t expected her to show such agility.
No wonder she was so confident.
‘But she’s still drunk right now.’
Even now, her body was slightly staggering at times.
Earlier too, when one of her attacks flew in an odd direction, she was clearly not in normal condition.
“You seem quite drunk. Should I put you to sleep?”
“Heh, are you going to sing me a lullaby?”
Beatrice laughed.
“Big sister doesn’t care for lullabies~.”
“That’s a relief.”
I clenched my fist again.
“Because I can’t sing lullabies anyway.”
Using those words as a signal, I lunged forward.
Beatrice also lunged forward.
I throw a punch.
A kick comes flying.
Elbows and knees fly.
Our fists and feet move vigorously, exchanging offense and defense.
‘Heavy.’
I staggered slightly from Beatrice’s punch and regained my posture.
As if her monstrous strength was no joke, the power behind each of her punches and kicks was also no laughing matter.
She had a body that could be described as overall thin, though well-defined where needed.
I wondered where such strength came from, just like with Sera.
‘And what is that light?’
I could see a slightly bluish light emanating faintly from Beatrice’s body.
Perhaps that was the source of Beatrice’s monstrous strength.
But I also thought that if that was all, she wouldn’t have been able to fight this far.
‘How much fighting experience does she have?’
Though staggering, her reaction speed and counterattacks were natural.
It was as if her body moved on its own without going through her brain.
‘Still.’
This level was manageable.
While thinking that, Beatrice’s leg grazed my face.
I almost got hit.
Beatrice grinned.
“Oh my, did your manly face almost get hurt?”
Instead of answering, I threw a punch.
Beatrice slightly moved her body to avoid the punch.
“Hey, I was complimenting you, saying your face is worth looking at. Why so serious?”
“Yeah, right.”
No time to listen to her chatter.
As I rushed in to end this quickly, Beatrice also dove into my range.
She was probably waiting for me to rush in.
‘I’ll abandon defense.’
Instead, I aimed for her face with all my might.
At the moment I extended my fist.
Beatrice’s face came close.
It wasn’t for defense or another attack.
I extend my fist aiming for Beatrice’s face.
Beatrice also extends her fist aiming for my face.
As our fists connect with each other’s faces, I feel pain.
My face gets slightly squashed by her fist.
‘I can’t believe she had the same idea.’
Trying with all my might to stay conscious and not fall, I see Beatrice speaking with a slightly distorted face.
“You’re keeping up well.”
It wasn’t the hazy drunk smile from before.
As if she had sobered up, she started smiling fiercely.
“Yes, let’s see this through to the end!”
As if the fighting had sobered her up a bit, her punches flew sharply toward my face and torso.
I moved my arms to block her punches, deflecting them while looking for a counter.
Predicting my counter, Beatrice flexibly twisted her body to avoid it.
We separated, then rushed at each other again, throwing punches.
Neither of us backing down, we exchanged punches and kicks.
-Thwack!
Finally, our fists met precisely, transferring the impact.
Beatrice smiled fiercely.
“I never thought a mere manufactured test subject would fight so well!”
“And I never thought you’d be so talkative.”
As I blocked one of her punches while speaking, Beatrice shouted fiercely.
“I’ve always been talkative!”
At that moment, she suddenly placed both hands on the ground.
Then using her arms as an axis, she stretched her legs and began spinning like a windmill.
‘Damn it!’
The sudden movement caught me off guard.
I was hit by Beatrice’s leg and got caught in it.
After rotating about twice, Beatrice jumped up from the ground using only her arm strength, and with that, my body also began to fly through the air.
“Become a bird!”
Having completed her move and returned to her original posture, I could see Beatrice rushing in.
Still in mid-air with no proper means to defend, I protected my body with my arms.
-Thwack!
With that, I flew into the wall along with my arms.
The impact was no joke; the wall collapsed and I flew into the space beyond it.
And dust rises.
“Ah… damn it.”
I coughed once, then quickly rolled to the side.
Through the dust, I could see Beatrice bringing her leg down toward where my head had been.
“Good instincts!”
Frustrated that her attack had failed, I heard Beatrice make a remark.
Meanwhile, I had half-raised my body.
From that position, I put strength into my knees to quickly rush out and grab Beatrice’s stomach, pushing her against the wall.
This time she couldn’t defend properly, and Beatrice made a choking sound.
‘Now’s my chance!’
I throw punches at her stomach and head.
After hitting her several times, Beatrice groans.
“This…!”
Though being hit, she seemed to have gathered her wits and deflected one of my attacks.
I quickly opened my punching hand and grabbed her collar.
Then I headbutted her in that position.
“This… ack!”
She tried to say something but closed her mouth after being hit in the head, and in that state, I threw Beatrice.
She hit the wall and fell to the ground.
“Huff… cough!”
It seemed the hit to her abdomen had been effective, as Beatrice appeared unable to immediately regain her senses.
This was my opportunity.
I quickly rushed in and mounted Beatrice.
“This, get off…!”
As Beatrice shouted and tried to get up, I quickly drove my fist down.
I pinned down her stomach and rained down punches. A lucky mount position.
I absolutely can’t let go.
One, two, three.
I frantically rain down punches.
“Ugh, this, really…!”
Beatrice eventually began blocking my punches with both hands.
She tried to shake me off with her legs, but it was useless.
I was already mounted on her abdomen.
It’s nearly impossible to escape from a mount in this situation.
One hit, two hits, three hits.
I continue to rain punches on Beatrice.
At first, Beatrice was shouting and trying to get up somehow, but gradually her voice became quieter.
“Enough, please…”
I hear a voice that sounds like it’s about to cry.
Calling time because you’re at a disadvantage?
“No way!”
If I let go here, she’s definitely the type of woman who would stab me in the back.
I absolutely can’t show mercy.
Unable to endure any longer, Beatrice began frantically tapping the ground with one hand.
“Please, just get off me now…”
Beatrice’s voice grows quieter.
‘It’s over.’
I gather strength in my fist for one final blow to knock her unconscious.
“Stop…”
Her weakened voice slightly stirred my heart.
Still, thinking I shouldn’t show mercy, I looked at Beatrice’s face.
At that moment, I felt a chill.
‘What the?’
She was smiling.
She was covering one eye with her hand, but her mouth was clearly visible.
Something was wrong.
As I hesitated momentarily, Beatrice smiled brightly.
“I said stop, didn’t I?”
My body suddenly begins to float in the air.
“What the hell!”
I was startled by the sudden turn of events.
Beatrice smiles brightly as she watches me.
“Reverse Gravity.”
A smile blooms on Beatrice’s face.
“A woman should have a secret weapon or two up her sleeve.”
Beatrice, who had been lying down, stood up.
“Ptooey.”
Blood-stained spit falls to the ground.
Meanwhile, my body had turned upside down, with my head pointing toward the ground.
“Ugh, that really hurt. Aren’t you being too harsh to a girl?”
Beatrice said with a smile.
“Honestly, I wasn’t going to use this, but I might have been in danger if I didn’t. I’ll give you credit for that.”
“This is…”
“Anti-gravity magic.”
Magic?
My mind freezes slightly.
“How…?”
Beatrice smiles.
“I’m a mage, you idiot!”
Immediately, Beatrice drove her fist into my body, and I began to fly.
I crashed through a wall and landed in what seemed to be some kind of garden.
“Huff, cough!”
I hadn’t even considered the possibility of her being a mage.
Suddenly, I remembered Asam.
‘Come to think of it…’
-“I was a commoner who, by chance, caught the Master’s eye and got the opportunity to enter the magic tower. Because of that, I faced all sorts of checks and attacks. At that time, Beatrice was the friend who protected me and stayed by my side. It’s all thanks to her that I now have my own private laboratory in the magic tower.”
I had considered it useless information at the time.
This is insane.
I should have considered the possibility that someone associated with Asam, who was presumably affiliated with the magic tower, might also be from the magic tower.
“Cough!”
I was thrown harder than expected, causing me to cough.
After forcibly stopping my cough, I saw Beatrice smiling.
“People at the magic tower looked down on big sister a lot.”
Perhaps from being hit so much while mounted earlier, blood was flowing from one corner of her lip.
Soon she stuck out her tongue and licked that blood into her mouth.
“But big sister was sharp in various ways from the moment she entered the magic tower.”
Even though I didn’t respond, Beatrice began telling her story.
“Big sister’s childhood world had already collapsed before that. And then, those damn cult members who destroyed my world were also slightly establishing their presence here.”
Beatrice approached, happily talking to herself despite there being no one else around.
“So, I tore them apart like crazy.”
And soon she grabbed my collar.
“In the process, I also bit the masters of the magic tower, and I went a bit crazy.”
“You.”
“At some point, people at the magic tower started calling me a mad dog.”
Mad dog.
“Rabid dog…”
“Oh, you know big sister’s title.”
It was quite an old story.
I remembered Eve reading a newspaper and saying it was an interesting title.
“Isn’t that too much, calling a woman a rabid dog? A rabid dog.”
“It seems to fit perfectly, you bitch.”
I had wondered before what kind of person she was, but I never expected to find out like this.
Not that I’m happy about it at all.
Beatrice also seemed to have nothing more to say.
“Time’s up now.”
-Snap!
Beatrice snaps her fingers.
I immediately tried to move my body to escape from that spot.
‘What the?’
My body won’t move.
Looking down, I saw something like a magic circle restraining my body.
Beatrice smiles.
“It’s a binding spell.”
“This is.”
“Now, test subject, your dream of escape is over.”
Beatrice’s face approaches.
I can see her turbid green eyes.
‘This person.’
Her eyes are not normal.
“Now, I’ve finally found a clue to that madman.”
With eyes that looked somewhat ecstatic, with crazed eyes, Beatrice muttered.
“All that’s left is to catch him and tear him apart.”
“For that, you don’t care about harming me or others, innocent people?”
Beatrice was silent for a moment.
But soon she looked at me with turbid eyes.
“To catch that madman, I have no choice but to go mad myself.”
It was somehow a melancholic tone.
“If you’re going to do crazy things, do them alone.”
Why cause trouble for others?
I gather my strength.
With all my might, I twisted my body.
“It’s useless, that’s not so easily…”
-Crash!
With the sound of breaking glass, her magic is dispelled.
I saw red lightning and smoke slightly leaking from my arm before disappearing.
Whether by coincidence or because it was briefly activated again due to my anger, I wasn’t sure.
“You need a beating!”
I extended my fist and threw it at Beatrice.
Beatrice, who had been looking with somewhat crazed eyes, hurriedly blocked the punch.
With a loud noise, she was pushed back slightly.
The light returned to her eyes, which had been somewhat crazed.
“…You want to go at it!”
Beatrice raises her fist.
I also raise my fist.
Again, our fists strike each other.
Hit, hit, and hit again.
It was the moment when we were about to strike each other with our last bit of strength.
“Stop.”
And at that moment, something like vines appeared and began to bind me and Beatrice.
