    Ch.5353. Barca I

In Dungeon & Adventure, job classes are broadly divided into three categories.

Magic-type classes that consume MP and various limited-use skills as resources while fighting, lacking any notable basic attacks, resulting in high burst damage but poor combat sustainability.

Warrior-type classes with powerful basic attacks and abundant non-limited skills that maintain high combat sustainability in most situations, even after using all their active limited-use skills.

And hybrid classes that fall between these two, typically represented by classes like Clerics or Druids.

Among these classifications, Barka I over there is a typical Barbarian.

Even among warrior classes, Barbarians fight primarily with basic attacks enhanced by various passive skills and stat-boosting abilities like Rage—a class considered romantic but impractical by human standards.

To put it simply, Barbarians follow a strong-weak-weak-strong pattern more extremely than other classes.

While the basic fantasy worldview of Dungeon & Adventure allows characters to withstand opponents of higher rank by utilizing various skills and defeating them through character combination plays…

Barbarians simply buff themselves, somehow raise their stats, and beat down enemies. This puts them at a disadvantage against stronger opponents in cooperative gameplay scenarios.

That’s why races with monster-level physiques like giants or minotaurs make excellent Barbarians, rather than humans or elves with their less impressive physical capabilities…

This principle would apply equally to Barka I over there.

His lacking base human stats are compensated by apostle stat boosts and increased resources from becoming a divine servant, while the Barbarian’s inherent lack of burst damage is likely supplemented with various holy magics and general miracles.

Since Barka I has mastered himself by reinforcing weaknesses while leveraging strengths, my choice becomes clear.

    “《Enforce Greater Strength》, 《Skin of Metal Armor》, 《Enforce Greater Agility》, 《Enforce Greater Reaction Rate》, 《Enforce Greater Durability》, 《High Regenerate》, 《Increase Recovery Amount》, 《Holy Bless: Increase Recovery Amount》!!!”

First, the Vampiric Dragon needs to match that monster-level physique to even begin this fight.

Four universal high-tier enhancement spells plus a tier-1 defense magic, along with continuous healing magic and two recovery-boosting spells should prevent instant death at least.

So Lisa, following what I had taught her using the wolf avatar, first reinforced the Vampiric Dragon’s specs with various spells.

    KWAAAANG!!!

Barka I leaped into the air using the rebound from stomping the ground, then accelerated quickly based on that momentum and swung his axe at the Vampiric Dragon, launching the first attack.

    “■■■■■■■■■■───!!!!!”

But a dragon is still a dragon.

Using the sonic breath, one of the breaths all pureblooded dragons can use.

While the damage might be mediocre, the knockback effect of the sonic breath was excellent. With nowhere to place his feet, Barka I began falling toward the ground—

    “《Spear of Punishment》!”

At that moment, Lisa’s attack spell struck Barka I while she was still buffing herself, causing him to crash into the ground and create a massive dust cloud.

    “《Spear of Punishment》!! 《Spear of Punishment》!!! 《Spear of Punishment》───!!!”

Of course, mere dust couldn’t deceive the senses of a pure-blooded vampire like Lisa, so she immediately fired three consecutive level 5 attack spells.

Normally, magic has cooldowns that would make such rapid firing impossible… but active skills change the story.

She used a cooldown-bypassing skill limited to three uses per day to consecutively deliver four of the strongest single-target holy attack spells, but even that wasn’t enough.

    “《Frost of Cocytus》!! 《Uriel’s Fireblade》!! 《Heavenly Judgement》!!”

A level 5 universal ice spell modeled after the frozen lake from Dante’s Divine Comedy froze the area, followed by a massive flame sword created by a level 5 holy spell and golden lightning striking down in sequence.

Not knowing which element might be his weakness or resistance, she simply unleashed everything to find out. After these attacks, it was the Vampiric Dragon’s turn.

    “■■■■■■■■■■■──────!!!!”

From the wide-open mouth that had previously released the sonic breath, this time came the blood breath of the Vampiric Dragon with a roar.

This breath, with its high damage-to-HP-drain ratio and unique physical damage properties, shares cooldown with other breath types, but that’s not what matters.

The essence of this breath is hardened blood particles that spray at high speed, grinding away flesh. Though narrower in range than a fire breath, its power should be tremendous… right?

    “…………….”

‘What? How is he withstanding that?’

Four consecutive hits from the highest-damage level 5 single-target holy spell. Plus three level 5 attack spells of different elements fired in succession. Even sonic breath and blood breath, one hit each.

Yet despite being exposed to this level of attack, Barka I showed little damage as he glared at the sky, then suddenly sprouted pale blue wings from his back and flew upward.

This was clearly the effect of the universal holy flight magic “Wing of Angel,” and the method to counter it was equally simple.

    “《Greater Dispel Magic》!!”

When Lisa used the spell to nullify active magic, Barka I’s holy spell couldn’t resist, given his zero-level magical aptitude.

    CRASH!

As his wings shattered like glass, Barka I began to fall, and Lisa once again unleashed a barrage of spells at his disrupted form.

    “《Chain of Heaven》!! 《Spear of Punishment》!! 《Raphael’s Tempest Lance》!! 《Uriel’s Fireblade》!! 《Heavenly Judgement》!! 《Trumpet of Jericho》!!!”

Bound by the level 5 restraining holy magic, Barka I was bombarded by Lisa’s attacks once more.

Starting with spells whose cooldowns had ended, she struck him with a giant lance made of wind, followed by another downpour of flame and lightning, and finally powerful sound waves that threatened to liquefy his internal organs.

Each spell was closer to a natural disaster than something humans could produce, so even the strongest being should surely…

    ‘…What’s going on?’

    Something was strange.

Even if Barka I was an apostle who inherited the legacy of the kingdom’s patron deity that I had devoured, it was definitely abnormal for him to be unscathed after receiving so many attacks.

A mid-tier god on the verge of extinction couldn’t possibly have granted him “absolute magic resistance,” and by rough calculation, he had survived damage equivalent to ten times his HP by game standards.

No matter what knowledge I recalled, I couldn’t find an explanation within normal parameters, which meant the answer must be… something extraordinary.

In other words, he must be enduring thanks to the power of “divine equipment”—gear directly crafted by a god.
