Ch.525Ancient empires were filled with romance. (3)
by fnovelpia
Naturally, when it was revealed through those wiki tabs that the Grand Cross was truly a big fucking awesome genuine mobile fortress in all its massive and beautiful glory.
Our battleship enthusiasts and various other users couldn’t contain their excitement in the galleries and chat rooms.
Of course, the legitimacy of such excitement was a story written in both ancient watermelon diagrams and ancient records.

Title: Holy shit it’s a big fucking mobile fortress with a big fucking gun!!!!

An ultra-massive fortress utilizing an entire planetary system!
And a cannon that harnesses the power of a black hole!
Holy
Fuck
Yesssssss!!!!!!!
Comments:
-[Have you gone insane?]
-[Battleship enthusiasts just can’t resist lol]
-[Oooooh]
-[Grrrr I can’t resist that fortress!]

Title: Damn that awesome thing has 3 stars
Author: Anonymous

The planetary system is so huge they installed 3 stellar engines which is absolutely mind-blowing
It’s just amazing, seriously. Imagine how terrifying it would be to see that thing in person
Comments:
-[The 3 stars rotate around the black hole center, but instead of being a triple star system, it’s made to function as a single planetary system – that’s sick]
-[But why aren’t the stars getting sucked into the black hole?]
-˪[Let me tell you about something called the event horizon]
-˪[As long as the black hole’s center of mass remains constant, it works fine]
-˪[But wouldn’t they get swept away if they were that close in reality?]
-˪[If it looks cool, that’s all that matters, end of story]
-[That’s scary as hell]

Title: So how do we tackle the fortress during the event?
Author: Lemonade
Content: [Grand Cross defense fleet.jpg]
Phases 1 and 2 seem manageable enough
But phase 3 is just straight-up siege warfare, isn’t it?
And we have to take gamma ray bursts that are supposedly stronger than stellar flares before we can even infiltrate
We need to destroy the main cannon and all the defensive installations scattered throughout the asteroid belt in the outer planetary system
Then fight the unmanned fleet stationed inside?
This doesn’t look easy
Comments:
-[That’s why they’re encouraging far more users to participate than in phase 2, don’t you think?]
-[Plus, looking at this, it seems like it’s roaming in reality rather than being an event map, so wouldn’t factions get involved and provide support?]
-˪[Oh that makes sense]
-[If it’s actually moving around in reality, the major clans in each sector will hire mercenary groups and deploy their garrison fleets to fight, so it shouldn’t be a big problem]
——————————————-
It must be because of the combat event that’s been long awaited.
Not only the battleship enthusiasts but also the warmongers who had been itching for action were popping up everywhere like mushrooms after rain.
And such reactions were no different in our central sector neutral zone… otherwise known as the “Icarus Republic.”
——————————————-
<Icarus Republic Official Chat Room>
<Announcement: Celebrate the birth of the greatest republic!>
-[Did our name change again?]
-[Since His Majesty doesn’t like kingdoms, we had to switch to a republic]
-[Lololol]
-[So what about the event?]
-[Is it anything special?]
-[They said they’ll come to us if we dock at our stronghold]
-[Can’t we just hold out with our stronghold defense fleet, facilities, and our base’s own defense systems?]
-[We may not have a fleet, but we’ve got superhumans!]
-[How about we gather all our superhumans and capture a bunch of Ancient Empire ships?]
-[But didn’t they say capturing Ancient Empire ships is impossible?]
-[That’s about the flagship that appears during the event, but these are regular ships, so it should be possible]
-[I’m skeptical since they’re unmanned fleets]
-[Lol just remove the CPU and put people in there instead]
-[What color is your blood?!]
——————————————-
“Everyone seems quite energetic.”
“Well, we haven’t had many direct armed conflicts recently.”
“…Is that so?”
“Only a select few have been directly beaten by you, Commander. The rest just bowed down after being intimidated by the fleet you mobilized.”
‘Come to think of it, that’s true.’
I nodded in agreement, finding Jessica’s words quite reasonable.
And along with that, a proper large-scale war event was about to come upon us.
“Hmm, right now Kraken Unit 3 and two SS-class dreadnoughts, plus Dornia’s leveling are incomplete, right?”
“Yes, though Dornia’s favorability is rising quite rapidly.”
“Still, more is better. Tell all the other superhumans to prepare thoroughly as well.”
“Yes, Commander.”
I decided to focus on leveling work and equipment settings to prepare for the event that would arrive in a week… no, six days.
But at this point, I heard some rather disappointing news.
“Oppa, I’m sorry but I think I need to return to my main base soon.”
“Sob.”
Marian and her followers… no, the elite fleets of the Pirate Alliance who had come to help me after the Leviathan Squadron, when I was being invaded by the Xenovia Empire’s Punishment Fleet.
Perhaps due to the confusion within the alliance caused by the upcoming event, I heard they needed to return to their original positions.
As a result, I felt a great deal of regret, but there was nothing I could do about it.
“See you later.”
“Pardon?”
“No, it’s nothing. Take care of yourself.”
“Of course!”
I could only wave my handkerchief to bid farewell to Marian and the Pirate Alliance fleet who were leaving their posts right before the event.
==========
And during those six days, users were busy trying to figure out what kind of “enemy” would appear in this event.
The problem was that even if they tried to find out, the only “credible” information written in the wiki tabs was about the Grand Cross fortress or the “Ancient Empire Flagship” that had appeared in a previous event, so users were gathering information through what could only be described as “collective intelligence”…

Write down everything you know
If we harness the collective intelligence of hundreds of thousands, we can accomplish anything
Comments:
-[We’ve been possessed for over 4 years, what brain theories are we supposed to come up with?]
-˪[You bastard… attention!](Author)
-˪[Let’s squeeze that insufficient cerebral cortex a bit more]
-[There are too many wild theories there to be trustworthy]
-[Which madman wrote about some multi-dimensional something that never existed?]
-˪[Doesn’t it exist?]
-˪[That’s nonsense, how would they implement that?]
-[Someone needs to catch and cut out the trolls]
-[Who’s the idiot claiming all ships have not just stealth but subspace diving capabilities? That’s impossible]

Title: Real-time collective intelligence status.txt
Author: Anonymous
Content: [Image of Grand Cross enemy fleet estimation progressively descending into madness.jpg]
Last time I was criticized for being delusional when I suggested that ships could deal effective damage to vessels one tier higher in stages 5-10
But according to what’s there now, a corvette could one-shot a dreadnought
Comments:
-[Damn, that’s peak delusion]
-[Why are such insane specs suddenly appearing?]
-˪[Because some idiots keep inserting their own brain theories into the specs]
-[This isn’t easy]
-[Who’s the idiot who said regular battleships, not even dreadnoughts, would have hundreds of strategic missile launchers?]
-˪[Isn’t that possible?]
-˪[Hresvelgr used most of its hull sides just to fit 12 strategic missile launchers, and that’s with an extended hull compared to regular battleships]
-˪[I see]
——————————————-
The problem was that due to the nature of collective intelligence.
All sorts of trolls got involved, making the predictions a complete mess.
