Ch.5151. For His Sake, I Abandoned My Past.

The vampires arrived at none other than the train station connected to the city’s central plaza.

Moving to this place, which was meant to be the bridge connecting the city, their eyes took in the most prosperous and bustling area of the underground city at a glance.

Despite being underground, this place was as bright as daylight thanks to massive lamps made of luminous stones—unique minerals that emit light on their own. The scenery resembled a quaint mid-to-late medieval city, comparable to Vienna in Austria in the real world.

On one side, identical houses lined up neatly, creating a cute yet somehow soft atmosphere, while on the other side, a vibrant market bustled with activity.

The ground was completely paved with what appeared to be brick tiles, not only making it aesthetically pleasing but also featuring a large, beautiful, and magnificent sculptural fountain at the very center of the plaza.

At the top of the fountain stood a skull crafted atmospherically from marble and a blood-stained cross. And there was a statue of Ma-Duke, with red glowing eyes made from luminous stones, perfectly capturing that uniquely eerie yet imposing feeling.

Between the fountain and the Ma-Duke statue was a structure resembling a truncated cone with its upper half cut off, adorned with countless small sculptures—appearing to be Ma-Duke’s subordinates—arranged to look as if they were supporting the Ma-Duke statue.

Strangely enough, from this Ma-Duke statue, completely detached from the surrounding landscape, crimson liquid continuously flowed, forming its own fountain.

Because of this, Selim, who could sense the ripples of various events happening here due to being a high-ranking vampire, thought to himself.

Indeed, he had made the right decision to relocate.

    ※ ※ ※

After that day, Selim was able to acquire a two-story detached house in a fairly good location adjacent to the central plaza—what would be considered prime real estate near a station in modern terms.

Why was he provided such a house when most people lived in row houses with about 20 homes crammed into a single building? The answer was obvious: because he was a Grade 3 True Blood vampire.

Higher-grade vampires possess tremendous combat abilities, making them superior forces in frontal combat situations… But even outside of battle, they remain valuable assets.

Vampires possess innate magical abilities, allowing them to transition into the Sorcerer class. While not as proficient as combat-focused Mages or scholarly Wizards… they are still magicians.

With adequate training, they can draw out their inherent power to cast spells, or use their magical aptitude to create various magical tools—though not as well as specialists.

Therefore, judging that these promising individuals, capable in whatever they do, deserved appropriate treatment, they were given the highest level of accommodation.

The Lord Himself assigned wooden puppets as servants, handling household chores without them having to lift a finger. And with just moderate combat training, they received ample salaries, so money was never an issue.

Particularly for Selim, who was high in grade but low in level, growth came very quickly, and he enjoyed developing as both a magician and a warrior.

Normally, hybrid classes aren’t particularly strong… But for True Blood vampires, who are hybrids from birth and have high stat modifiers, this approach could yield decent results.

Anyway, he was also enamored with the excellent facilities in this wonderful house.

Running water at any desired temperature, magical ovens and burners that made cooking—his recent hobby—incredibly convenient, and various other household appliances.

For a moment, he wondered if someone who had committed such grave sins in the past deserved such luxury… but then he changed his mind.

He was essentially a completely different being before and after pledging loyalty to the great God of Blood and Vengeance, the protector of vampires.

Under this logic, having chosen to live a life completely separated from his past, and having received forgiveness for his past sins after praying at the temple… he decided to change his name as the final step.

Thus, the half-elf Selim Felburg disappeared from this world, and in his place was born a vampire named Vlad von Dracula.

Though he didn’t know it himself, he had essentially been reborn as someone who would be hailed as the king of vampires in the distant future.

    ‘…Wait, this guy was Vlad?’

The God of Vengeance, who only now realized this fact, could only stare at him, bewildered by the belated revelation of his identity.

    ※ ※ ※

Vlad von Dracula—according to the original scenario where I hadn’t intervened, this vampire who would take Lisa as his wife was… quite a significant character.

In the vampire faction, which operates on a bloodline system where vampires are classified based on who among the cursed vampires of the previous Blood God turned them, there is no official leader, but there is an unofficial one.

That would be Vlad von Dracula, who in the original timeline had one foot in the realm of demigods and transcendents at Grade 0—the most powerful vampire who was treated as a leader by users solely because of his strength.

Originally, no matter how efficient and practical a hybrid build might be, it would inevitably be weaker than classes specialized in specific areas.

Magic would be inferior to professional mages in terms of firepower, efficiency, casting speed, and versatility, and close combat abilities wouldn’t be exceptional enough to compensate for these shortcomings with mediocre magic.

However, there are extremely rare exceptions to these characteristics, and among them, Vlad von Dracula stands out.

He specialized his magic in area-of-effect annihilation, making him comparable to high-level mages in this domain. And in close combat and swordsmanship, he was a monster with skills and a skill tree rivaling top-tier Sword Masters, focusing on evasion.

I remember struggling against his insane pattern of casting three consecutive Level 5 area spells when I formed a hero party to challenge him early in the game.

That monster’s cruel patterns, worthy of a final boss in the basic scenario, made me want to kill the game developer.

In addition to the aforementioned triple Level 5 area spells, he had the warrior’s ultimate passive skill that guaranteed a 30% chance to dodge regardless of hit/evasion calculations. Plus, all his normal attacks and spells had the “Recover HP equal to 50% of damage dealt” attribute…

What made him particularly frustrating was that while you could survive one hit, he had so many probability-based combo skills that to defeat him, you just had to pray to the heavens, apply healing prohibition, and hope his combos wouldn’t trigger… No, no.

My thoughts drifted elsewhere, probably due to the frustration accumulated during those four hours of endless attempts. Back to the main point.

Given that he grows into such a blood pressure-raising monster with dirty and cheating abilities, even with a little push, he wouldn’t shoot up like Bjorn to become a boss-level talent.

Certainly, Vlad’s final form could be almost equal to Bjorn without divine possession if he consumed various opportunities in certain routes, but the problem is that his growth rate is incredibly slow.

The game system where shorter lifespans yield more experience points and longer lifespans yield less was revealed through the fact that Lisa barely grew while Bjorn reached just below the advanced level.

Therefore, undead races like vampires that are classified as “immortal” would naturally grow slowly, and Vlad had already reached Grade 3—just below the advanced level.

Even humans, who grow relatively quickly in the game, experience significantly slower growth at advanced levels. How much slower would Vlad’s advanced growth be when his intermediate growth is already slower than a human’s advanced growth?

As I experienced when raising an undead soldier to an undead lord in a previous campaign, Vlad would probably need to focus on grinding experience for at least several hundred years just to advance one grade.

And that’s only if I continuously run dungeons and provide various opportunities, just as I’m doing for Bjorn now.

Obviously, I don’t have that kind of capacity at present.

The basic amount of faith is already insufficient as I’ve been pouring it into Bjorn to help him reach the advanced level quickly. Additionally, once he reaches the advanced level, I’ll need to create dungeons suitable for his level, making resources even scarcer.

In this situation, to prepare something separately for Vlad…

Perhaps in the future, but the reality was that I couldn’t do anything for him right now.
