Ch.50Chapter 50. Chaos (3)

“What did you just say?”
“Hm? Umm…?”
Jinsoo kept rolling his eyes while looking at the crushed bench backrest.
He wondered if this was even possible with human grip strength.
But the model-like person next to him maintained a relaxed smile throughout.
“I said I was setting up a date.”
“N-no. I was just saying we should grab a meal together sometime…”
“Isn’t that a date?”
“…”
Unlike his superior who was smiling smugly, Jinsoo was extremely anxious.
Juliane’s cold gaze was staring down at him sharply.
“There seems to be a misunderstanding. Jinsoo doesn’t seem to think of it as a date, senior.”
“He will soon enough, don’t you think?”
“Come with me for a second. Jinsoo, you stay right here!”
“Yes…”
Finally, she grabbed her superior’s wrist and pulled her away from the bench.
After making Jinsoo wait at attention.
After walking a little distance, her superior shook off Juliane’s hand.
“What.”
Her superior looked at her with haughty eyes and crossed her arms.
The audacious attitude was so absurd it was almost laughable.
Now that they were face to face, she seemed even less like a superior.
In such figure-revealing leggings workout clothes… and even taking off her glasses.
She wondered if this was really the same superior who barely washed her hair and wore baggy clothes at the office.
If it weren’t for her voice, she might not have recognized her at all.
“What are you trying to do?”
“Orders came from above.”
“Orders? What orders?”
“They think you’re slacking off and told me to do something about it. So we need to at least pretend to be working hard.”
“What are you talking about? I’m doing well.”
“Hardly. You’re just busy collecting weapons to stab the military prosecutors with. Have you completely forgotten your actual job?”
“Ugh…”
“You should have submitted your surveillance reports more diligently. This happened because there were too many omissions.”
“If that’s the case, you could just reprimand me directly. Why go through all this…”
“It looked fun.”
“…?”
Juliane was dumbfounded by her superior’s smile.
It was just too absurd.
“Why? Isn’t it better with two people? The amount of information collected will double.”
“No, it’s not. Jinsoo is surprisingly tight-lipped, so even if you approach him, you won’t collect even 10% of the information I gather.”
“Really? I just learned his phone number, home address, and even which school his daughter attends in the last 10 minutes.”
“Th-that’s probably information he tells everyone.”
“I see. Then you must also know about his erogenous zones?”
“What?”
“What? You don’t know? He told me when we first met.”
“…”
Her insides were boiling, but she held back.
It was an obvious provocation.
She was clearly lying just to tease her, not actually knowing anything.
That had to be the case.
“Ha! As if you could seduce him. He has a child.”
“I already told you. I was setting up a date knowing that.”
“Have you no conscience? Doing this to another woman’s man…”
“Well. You’re just pretending to date, right? That’s what Jinsoo Kim thinks too. So should I even feel guilty about this?”
“…I’ll ask Jinsoo directly.”
It was foolish to try to settle things with this woman from the start.
Juliane turned around huffing and started walking toward the bench.
It would be fastest to let Jinsoo decide for himself.
“Threats don’t work?”
Her superior followed, sneering, and Juliane couldn’t remember ever finding her more annoying than today.
“Jinsoo.”
“Y-yes?”
“I told you threats don’t work. Smile, Juliane. Smile.”
“Heee…”
Roughly pushing away her superior’s hand that was forcing her lips into a smile, Juliane sat down next to Jinsoo.
Her superior sat across from them, and somehow Jinsoo ended up sandwiched between the two.
‘This is my mission. It’s a matter of my pride.’
It was nothing else.
Just wanting to reflect on her past negligence and prove her abilities.
No other emotions were involved.
That was definitely the case.
“Jinsoo. Am I not enough for you?”
“…”
As soon as she heard the first words, her superior felt a throbbing in her head and clutched her temple.
She told her not to use force, but now she was going for this pathetically emotional approach.
If it was this irritating just hearing it from one seat away, she couldn’t imagine how much of a headache it was for Jinsoo Kim.
“How could you think about meeting another woman while leaving me behind? And even my acquaintance? If you apologize now, I’ll forgive you. If you apologize and end your relationship with that woman…”
That woman?
The superior didn’t even find it funny enough to laugh.
She could see how desperate Juliane was.
Whether it was because of the mission or possessiveness over Jinsoo Kim, she wasn’t sure.
Either way, she thought Jinsoo must be quite exhausted.
“You’re acting like you’re my girlfriend, Juliane.”
“What? What do you mean…”
“We’re just pretending, aren’t we? Pretending to date.”
“No, how can you say that here.”
“Oh my. You were just pretending to date? I had no idea~”
“…”
When her superior smiled innocently, Juliane shot her a vicious glare.
She hadn’t expected this.
She thought Jinsoo would be flustered the whole time, but for him to be so direct and confident…
“To be frank, do you even have the right to control me like this, Juliane?”
“But to avoid giving Snyder any opportunity to attack…”
“I’ll meet her quietly. Without being noticed. That’s enough, right?”
“…”
That’s exactly what can’t happen, you idiot.
There are paparazzi hired to tear you apart right now, how do you plan to meet secretly?
Just a few days ago, I caught one of them…
Of course, she couldn’t tell Jinsoo about this.
She didn’t want to make him anxious.
“On the surface, I’ll continue meeting with you. But in reality, you have no right to interfere with who I meet or have one-night stands with. Right?”
“N-no.”
“Excuse me?”
Tears rolled down Juliane’s fair cheeks.
“Look only at me. Please… I’ll do better. We can become real lovers, can’t we?”
“…”
Jinsoo was momentarily taken aback.
‘Was she this good at acting?’
He was starting to find it unbearable.
He thought if he kept suppressing his sexual desires any longer, he might end up pouncing on Cuss someday.
Assuming Juliane wouldn’t want anything more than pretending to be lovers, he decided to seek a new relationship.
But he never dreamed Juliane would be this desperate, even putting on tears.
“If I can’t satisfy you… then I’ll give up. I won’t care if you meet my acquaintance or anyone else. So won’t you give me a chance?”
“If you’ll do anything.”
“Yes! I’ll do anything!”
“Hehe. Then shall I tell you Jinsoo’s erogenous zones?”
“Please shut up…”
It was practically a sign of acceptance.
Now there was really no room for her superior to interfere.
Or rather, she had to make sure there wasn’t.
To do that, she’d have to do whatever Jinsoo said…
As Juliane ran simulations in her head, she couldn’t help but blush.
“Ah! You haven’t had lunch yet, right?”
“No. I was just thinking about getting something to eat.”
“I brought a lunchbox.”
“Oh my. Can I have some too?”
“No.”
To prevent Jinsoo from going out, she needed to start being a good partner right now.
It was time to shed the image of a woman who couldn’t cook.
Starting with simple kimbap!
“I brought kimbap. Since you seem to like Korean food.”
“Wow, kimbap? It’s been a long time since I had that.”
“Hehe. I put lots of pickles, jalapeños, and cabbage in it.”
“Wait, is that still kimbap…?”
She confidently opened the lunchbox lid…
“Eh?”
“…”
Inside was something closer to bibimbap than kimbap.
All the rolls had burst at the sides, spilling their contents everywhere.
Soon Jinsoo glared at Juliane with an expression that spoke volumes.
“You used thin seaweed, right?”
“Yes…”
“Just one sheet?”
“Yes…”
“And you didn’t brush it with sesame oil.”
“Yes…”
“Then it was already falling apart when you cut it.”
“But only a few pieces burst, the rest were fine…”
“If you stuff so much filling into such thin seaweed, of course it’s going to burst even if it looks fine when you cut it. Where did you learn to make kimbap anyway?”
“From the internet…”
“Please just follow the recipe. Don’t skip steps because they seem unnecessary. Do you think chefs are stupid? Do you think they add unnecessary steps to make things inefficient? There’s a reason for everything in the recipe, so you just need to follow it. Is that so hard? Is it painful to do what you’re told?”
“Ugh…”
Watching Juliane fidget uncomfortably, her superior smiled.
Jinsoo Kim, who had always been so composed during hours of conversation, had lost his temper over a single lunchbox.
Perhaps the only people who could make him this genuine were his daughter and Juliane…
That was her cautious guess.
