Ch.48[Episode 48] Patch Hearing

Sir Dominic’s first action after paying the price was to check his new home.

“The advantage of this building is that you can visit it anytime during non-combat situations since it exists beyond dimensions. Plus, GachaLand items are worth every Credit you spend. You can go anywhere with just a small amount of Credit by designating a gate at the Executive branch.”

The real estate agent continued explaining about the house while guiding Sir Dominic to his newly purchased building.

Just as he finished speaking, a loading screen appeared, and the surroundings began to change.

Inside a faint yellow rectangular outline was the building he had seen in photos.

A river flowed in front, with a stone bridge crossing it. Beyond that was a stone fence along the river, then a spacious yard, and finally a cozy two-story house.

The medieval manor-style house built of stone and wood had a warehouse and tower attached to it. A waterwheel turned at the warehouse, and a windmill rotated on the tower.

A granite path ran between the house and entrance, and behind the house was a mountain densely covered with trees.

“From now on, this is your home. Are you satisfied?”

    “Of course.”

Sir Dominic took in the beautiful scenery at a glance, almost forgetting that this was now his own home.

“If you ever find yourself dissatisfied with this place, you can do this.”

When the real estate agent manipulated something, the medieval manor-style buildings changed to Eastern-style architecture. With another manipulation, it returned to manor style, but now the warehouse had a chimney, and the windmill became a clock tower.

“This building is sought after by people serious about housing, so these features are possible. It’s expensive but worth several other buildings combined. Plus, if you wish, you can add or remove new structures. Other buildings only allow interior housing, but this one is filled with additional housing elements that justify its price.”

The more Sir Dominic heard, the more he liked this building.

“If you want to leave this dimension, just press here.”

The real estate agent pointed to a forest path outside the faint yellow line beyond the river.

    Sir Dominic nodded.

“Well, from now on, this house is yours. I hope we meet again for another good deal.”

The real estate agent left Sir Dominic there and disappeared. It was now someone else’s house, and staying uninvited could be considered trespassing.

However, Sir Dominic didn’t even notice the agent’s departure, absorbed in admiring his first home purchased with his own money.

“So this is my house now.”

As a knight, Sir Dominic had sometimes wondered what it would be like to have his own domain or manor.

But as a knight of serf origin, it was nearly impossible to receive land over other noble knights in the barren Feralant.

A desire to own a proper knight’s house had always stirred in Sir Dominic’s heart.

And today, that wish had come true.

Filled with emotion, Sir Dominic crossed the stone bridge over the river and headed toward the yard.

[New residence confirmed. Would you like to set this as your main residence?]

A system window appeared before his eyes.

Sir Dominic looked at this rude window interrupting his emotional moment and dismissed it by tapping anywhere.

Then he resumed admiring his house.

    At least until someone arrived.

“Excuse me. Is this Sir Dominic’s house?”

Sir Dominic heard someone calling from beyond the bridge.

When he turned his head, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

An angel with white wings was standing there, holding a large bundle and looking irritated.

    “Are you Sir Dominic?”

The angel asked from across the river.

    “I am.”

Sir Dominic returned to the bridge. It seemed the visitor had business with him.

“Why did you only get a house now?”

The angel adjusted the cap on his head while speaking. The cap had the words “Heaven Delivery” along with a winged package printed on it.

Sweat beaded on the frowning angel’s forehead.

“I needed to deliver mail but couldn’t find an address, so I’ve been searching for ages.”

The angel carefully lowered the bundle.

“Here’s everything that’s been piling up, and please sign here to confirm receipt.”

    Sir Dominic signed without thinking.

After verifying the signature, the angel nodded, tipped his cap to Sir Dominic, and said:

“Thank you for using Heaven Delivery. Please use our services again.”

With that, the angel disappeared through the forest path.

Surprised by this sequence of events, Sir Dominic could only stare at the remaining bundle, his intention to inspect the house completely forgotten.

    “What is all this?”

Sir Dominic examined the bundle carefully.

It had warning labels like “Handle with Care,” “Open with Caution,” and “Fragile” on the outside.

Sir Dominic carefully opened the bundle as instructed by the warnings.

And then he was buried under the avalanche of items that poured out.

    [1-1 Clear Reward-]

    [1-1 Perfect Reward-]

    [1-2 Clear Reward-]

[Star Giant of Hundread Hands has sent you-]

[Alliance Clan would like to inform-]

Sir Dominic was rolling around in the flood of items pouring from the bundle.

The constant notifications from system windows made it even more chaotic.

Finally, when the items from the bundle had occupied almost the entire yard, Sir Dominic managed to escape from the mountain of objects.

    “What is all this?”

    Sir Dominic said with bewilderment.

He had just said the same line moments ago, but with completely different emotions.

Sir Dominic stared in awe at the mountain of items, which was twice his height.

There were Gacha Stones and Credits scattered throughout, but most were bulky objects and letters.

Sir Dominic unconsciously reached out to touch the mountain of items.

[Multiple Credits and Gacha Stones detected. Would you like to collect all currency?]

[All currency except items will be organized.]

Sir Dominic nodded at the system window that appeared before him.

It would take too much time to sort through this mountain of treasures one by one.

In fact, he was grateful for this offer.

As Credits and Gacha Stones were stored in his inventory, the remaining items were scattered on the ground.

Though lower than before, the items were still piled as high as Sir Dominic’s height.

    Sir Dominic sighed.

    “I should organize this first.”

He began examining the items one by one.

[Star Giant of Hundread Hands thanks you for your contribution and has sent the following item. Reward: Titan-class Flagship Atlas 1/2000 Model (★★★)]

[Alliance Clan expresses their favor toward you and has sent the following item. Reward: Alliance Clan Flag (★★)]

[A Star who introduces themselves as Sir Dominic’s ardent fan has sent the following item. Reward: One-eyed Knight Figurine (★)]

As he sorted through the largest items first, most turned out to be gifts from characters he had met recently on the battlefield.

The Titan-class flagship model was so large that it completely occupied one corner of the yard, proudly displaying its presence.

After clearing most of the items, only a few letters remained.

    [Sender: Executive branch]

Several letters were marked this way.

Sir Dominic opened one of them.

[Hello? The general election is approaching soon. Your precious vote-]

The first letter was encouraging voter participation.

After reading it through, Sir Dominic pondered about the general election and voting for a while, then thought “I guess that’s a thing” and opened the next letter.

    [Hello, Sir Dominic.]

The letter that began this way contained quite serious content.

[We have observed your recent battlefield performance. However, there are concerns that your performance is excessively good compared to your tier, equipment, and characteristics.]

[Therefore, our Executive branch would like to hold a hearing to discuss your performance.]

[Please note that non-attendance may result in disadvantages, and you must bear these consequences as they result from your own decision.]

[The hearing schedule is as follows-]

As soon as he saw the word “schedule,” Sir Dominic brought the letter closer to read more carefully.

The date written on the letter was today.

[In case you read this letter late or claim to have destroyed it without reading, we’ve arranged for you to be transported directly to the hearing room if you tear this letter. We’ll see you at the hearing. – Senator Muscleman of the Tank Union.]

Sir Dominic didn’t know what they would discuss about him at the hearing, but seeing the mention of possible disadvantages, he immediately tore the letter.

The world changed, and Sir Dominic found himself in new surroundings.

Sir Dominic looked around, finding himself seated on a plush sofa.

A room with modern yet elegant charm.

Portraits and photographs of strangers, along with an enormous number of medals and trophies.

Sir Dominic felt as if this room were a nobleman’s office.

“You’ve arrived. Seeing you arrive on time proves you’re worthy of being a tank.”

Startled by the extremely deep voice from behind, Sir Dominic turned around.

“Pleased to meet you. I’m Senator Muscleman.”

There stood an incredibly muscular man with a shield-shaped gold badge on his chest.
