    Ch.48Ep.48 Upheaval

    “That crazy… bastard.”

While I’d known Hades was trash for a long time, I never realized he was this level of garbage.

The story Elysse told me was nothing short of shocking.

“Olympus was… nothing but a sandcastle that was destined to collapse from the beginning.”

Despite saying this, Elysse continued to shed tears of blood, as if her anger remained unquenched.

    To summarize her story:

In the ancient era when Kadinant was first created, Zeus determined that humans had become too numerous and decided their numbers needed to be reduced.

He caused a massive flood that made human survival impossible.

The result: only two humans survived, a man and a woman.

They believed the flood was a natural disaster and that divine protection had saved them, so they devoted their faith to Olympus.

    Yes.

These two became the first popes of Zeus and Hades.

From the beginning, their ancestors were fools, which is why Kadinant had no choice but to operate under Olympus’s control.

A brief aside—they say history is written by the victors, don’t they?

While there are stories about those who survived the flood becoming the first popes, we know nothing about what happened to those who died.

History doesn’t record the losers’ stories; it only follows the accounts of the winners.

Despite having lived through an entire era, not even a single character of their story remained.

The reason was right before my eyes.

Das Pluto, including the Underworld messenger Elysse, was created from the souls who perished in that flood.

They were resentful about dying in the flood, but even after arriving in the Underworld, they couldn’t resolve their grievances.

    They instinctively realized the truth.

That Olympus’s leadership was deeply involved in their deaths.

That the lives they had lived until then had been denied by the gods.

That approximately 50 million lives had been purged merely as part of a god’s scheme.

    The angry souls gathered together.

Rather than continuing to live as the gods’ fools, they decided to resist, even if just a little.

    “But… it was useless.”

    Zeus’s Astrape roamed the heavens.

Invisible attacks from Kynee came from all directions.

For some reason, Poseidon was nowhere to be seen.

But the rampage of Olympus’s two highest gods was a natural disaster worse than the flood.

And among the souls who survived their battlefield were a select few.

    “Don’t tell me?”

“Yes… Hades appointed them as messengers and Das Pluto…”

Brainwashing involved more than just magic.

    Physical torture and mental domination.

Their blind rage toward the gods was transformed into fanaticism, turning them into obedient puppets.

Thus, Hades acquired Das Pluto, Olympus’s strongest killing force.

Despite the countless deaths that lay beneath the surface, Hades shamelessly called them his elite force.

For Elysse, whose brainwashing by Hades had been undone, there was nothing left to see.

“I will kill him… without fail. No matter what happens..!”

Radios suddenly found himself with someone who hated Hades even more than he did.

Still, now that all connections to Hades were gone, Elysse would be a great help.

“I’ve forcibly removed all the seals placed on my body. Now I can use my Order whenever I want.”

Just as Elysse said, a deep navy blue energy was emanating from her body.

It was her Order, which she had also shown during the Cthugha incident.

“My Order is ‘Silence.’ I will be a scythe that follows only you, Radios Magnum. I will be your shadow, silencing forever any enemy that stands in your way.”

    Elysse prostrated herself before Radios.

He had freed her from Hades’s brainwashing and had shown remarkable growth in a short time, even killing Cthugha.

Surely Radios Magnum would someday kill Hades.

For this purpose, Elysse willingly offered to be Radios’s shadow.

She would cut down anything that stood in his way.

It wasn’t much different from when she was Hades’s puppet.

Having lived as a puppet for so long, she had forgotten how to think for herself.

All that remained was the compulsive notion that she must follow someone’s orders.

Even if Radios were to grant her freedom, Elysse intended to follow him.

From the moment her brainwashing was undone, Radios was Elysse’s only master.

    “Rise, Elysse.”

    “Yes.”

“We’re returning to our lodgings. We’ll talk about Olympus matters later.”

    “Yes!”

    A sign of agreement.

Elysse responded to Radios’s answer with a bright smile and followed him with a happy face.

When they arrived at the lodgings located in the center of the village, Arsia could tell from Elysse following behind Radios that Veichel’s serum had worked.

“Looks like the conversation went well?”

“Yes. I also learned that Hades is even more of a lunatic than I expected.”

“What are you planning to do now? The captain’s strategy is nothing more than buying time.”

Arsia had heard Radios asking Kraud to use magic to make it appear as if they were advancing on Idrya’s order.

That magic was just a stalling tactic. It would be exposed within a week at most.

It might be more beneficial to show no movement at all within the goblin village.

“Veichel is dead. Yog-Sothoth must have realized that I’m an apostle of the Blind Idiot God.”

“What? An apostle of the Blind Idiot God?”

    “Oh, didn’t I tell you?”

Come to think of it, no one except Kraud knew about this.

Radios hadn’t expected to reveal a secret he’d been keeping just because he’d become too comfortable with Arsia.

But since it had come to this, Radios told her everything, starting with how he came to form a relationship with the Blind Idiot God.

“So… the Blind Idiot God was the leader of the Outer God forces but was betrayed by Yog-Sothoth, and he made a contract with you to destroy the Outer God forces. Is that right?”

“Yes. Sorry for keeping it secret. The contract happened so suddenly that I couldn’t tell anyone.”

“It’s fine. You told me first, and that’s enough.”

Well… actually, I told Kraud first.

    Let’s just move past that.

“In the end, the Outer God forces will move more actively. If they know that the Blind Idiot God is on my side, and with the intention of destroying the Outer Gods.”

They’ll want to eliminate us quickly, if only out of fear.

Yog-Sothoth’s goal is the complete annihilation of the Divine Fragment.

To achieve this, killing Radios has become his primary objective.

“Going into hiding in this situation? That doesn’t seem like the right choice.”

“You’re right… It might be better to take the stance that we have nothing to fear. Besides, this way we can gauge the enemy’s strength.”

No matter how good the enemy’s intelligence is, everyone knows that goblins are not normal creatures.

The entire goblin tribe, advancing together with Radios?

It would take at least four apostles gathered in one place to stop such a force.

Moreover, those apostles would have to be among the stronger ones, not just average.

The Hunting Dog Order was destroyed by the goblins.

Even though they summoned several Hounds of Tindalos.

Based on the information available, the goblin side suffered no casualties.

Not even a bruise. Goblins can regenerate their bodies as long as their hearts remain intact.

In other words, they absolutely cannot die unless you kill them.

That’s true, but it literally means they can’t die from wounds or poison.

Unless the wound cuts through the heart, or the poison stops the heart’s activity.

    Radios knows this well.

He’s even used a goblin mask for healing purposes before.

“It’s a kind of trick. With this move, we can see what happens when the goblins mobilize, and when we really attack, they might be thrown into confusion.”

    “That’s exactly what I mean.”

Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf?

He always scared the villagers by saying a wolf was coming.

After being fooled two or three times, the villagers eventually stopped believing the boy.

When a wolf really came down to the village, the boy shouted that a wolf had come.

Naturally, the villagers didn’t believe him, and great damage occurred.

    It’s the same principle.

If Kraud uses large-scale magic to mimic the advance of the goblin tribe, the Outer God forces will naturally lower their alert level.

“When their guard is at its most relaxed. That’s when we strike.”

    “I like it. I agree.”

No matter how vigilant the Outer God orders are, their guard will naturally crumble.

Being deceived multiple times leads to frustration, and to eliminate that frustration, they become lazy.

“By the way, now I want to hear your story.”

    “What?”

“Your Order. How did you get it?”

    “Ah!”

I was uncertain, but judging from Arsia’s reaction, she definitely obtained an Order.

According to Kraud, she got involved in the fight with Veichel and ended up fighting with Elysse.

I never imagined that would lead to her obtaining an Order.

“I never dreamed I’d get an Order this way either.”

    “Can you explain what happened?”

“Well… how should I put it? Suddenly my vision became hazy, and a single straight line appeared.”

For some reason, Arsia thought she needed to grab it and follow it.

Whether it was a rope or a cliff with open sides, she didn’t know.

    Forward, she kept moving forward.

Then she saw a light, and when she grasped it with her hand.

    “I obtained an Order.”

    Whoosh.

As Arsia opened her palm, a golden haze rose up beautifully.

Radios stared at it as if entranced.

    Arsia spoke of her Order.

    “My Order is–“
