Ch.47[Chapter 47] Housing System
by fnovelpia
Sir Dominic came out of the bank with an expression as if he’d seen a ghost.
Of course, Sir Dominic had experience capturing thousands of ghosts while fighting the dead, so his expression was somewhat similar to that feeling.
The paper he exchanged at the dimensional shop had the following written on it:
[(Popular!) 3580 + 3580 Gacha Stone (First Charge Bonus)]
[2 Feralant Gold Coins! (150% profit compared to other dimensional shops!)]
Feralant gold coins, of all things.
Despite never having seen gold coins or even silver coins during his time in Feralant, somehow his assets seemed to include gold coins. At least 2 of them.
Thinking this might just be random text written on paper, Sir Dominic immediately turned on his smartphone and searched for the nearest bank through the map app.
“Here are 7140 Gacha Stones. 20 Gacha Stones are deducted as a fee since it’s the weekend.”
Sir Dominic stared blankly at the pouch full of jewels placed before him.
This scrap of paper actually turned into money. Though financially ignorant, Sir Dominic’s mind was spinning, but he soon settled on the thought that good things were simply good.
7140 Gacha Stones.
‘At the shop, 2,580 Gacha Stones or 350,000 Credits…’
With plenty of Gacha Stones in hand, Sir Dominic recalled what v.a.l.l.o.c. had said.
He had mentioned that amount would be enough to buy a house, and that having a house came with various benefits, so his first plan was to find a home.
This would be the first time he owned a house.
Sir Dominic walked toward the Market Area with a happy smile and light steps.
…
“So, this time our party only needs to put forward one tank for the hearing?”
“That’s right. In exchange, we’ve agreed to cancel the tank nerf policy promise.”
Trom, the pot-bellied leader of the Melee DPS Alliance and member of the Executive branch council, told his aide.
Sinking into the luxurious chair in his office, Trom sighed.
“You must have received something more in return?”
The aide had been a loyal servant since the beginning of Trom’s political career and could discern much from his sighs.
This current sigh was like the lament of a greedy man who hadn’t achieved everything he wanted.
“The Tank Union said they’d turn a blind eye to this DPS takedown.”
“Isn’t that good enough? You always say politics requires a long-term view—”
The aide tried to console Trom with sincere intentions, but Trom exploded in anger.
“The problem is that the tanks have leverage over us. That’s the problem!”
Normally, Trom wouldn’t have been this angry.
However, Trom harbored an inferiority complex—a sense of inadequacy—toward tanks.
“You know. I’m not handsome enough to be popular with female Stars, nor am I a female character. Above all, as a sustained DPS, I’ve been ridiculed by other DPS classes with their burst damage!”
Trom began to breathe heavily as anger rose to his throat.
As his breathing intensified, his face grew increasingly red.
“But look! Tanks are popular regardless of their appearance or skill set! Why? Because they’re overpowered! Think about it. Everyone else balances around dealing damage, but tanks balance around taking damage. With different balance standards, they whine about tanks being weak and marginalized, and when someone calls tanks overpowered, they rush in with fire in their eyes to defend the tank’s authority. Do DPS have anything like that? No! Why? Because DPS is the most balanced class!”
His logic was flawed, but it was the reasoning that had helped him secure his position as a council member in the Melee DPS Alliance.
His words had created significant resonance in the DPS community, which had begun to face contempt due to the oversaturation of damage dealers.
“Tanks, tanks should disappear. Without tanks, there’s one more spot for DPS. Job creation! We’d kill bosses faster, right? Rank advancement! Why doesn’t everyone understand that tanks are unnecessary in every aspect?”
Filled with rage and now speaking without filtering his thoughts, Trom’s inner mind harbored dangerous ideologies.
“Councilman. Please calm down and lower your voice. If someone hears this, it could be disadvantageous for the next general election.”
At his aide’s words, Trom tried to calm himself by taking deep breaths.
“Anyway, tanks need to disappear. DPS, especially melee DPS, should be the center of the world.”
Not something like tanks, Trom grumbled, but his face had already returned to a calm state.
“Don’t you think so too, aide?”
“Yes, Councilman.”
The aide actually had no interest in Trom’s ideologies or theories but said so out of loyalty to Trom.
However, Trom didn’t trust his aide’s loyalty.
This extreme melee DPS ideologist had risen to his position through politics and schemes rather than improving his own specs.
Beep. The recorder in his inner pocket turned off.
…
“Welcome.”
West Gachaland Real Estate.
Sir Dominic had searched on his smartphone about how to buy a house.
This technological convenience was truly remarkable. So much so that he couldn’t imagine going back to the days in Feralant when information was delivered by pigeons, arrows, drum sounds, or horn pipes.
Having found instructions to look for places labeled “real estate” or “licensed real estate agent,” Sir Dominic headed toward a sign that caught his eye.
“Are you here to look at houses?”
“Yes.”
The real estate agent, judging by Sir Dominic’s appearance that he might not have much money, was somewhat unfriendly.
However, his professional ethics were solid, and he showed Sir Dominic several places that matched his appearance.
“This is a studio apartment. The building owner loves medieval-style interiors, so the inside is decorated like this. However, because they focused too much on historical accuracy, there’s a fireplace that makes the actual space smaller than the recorded size. It’s a bit uncomfortable to stretch your legs? This one is 22 Gacha Stones per month. This one is a bit on the outskirts, so it’s cheaper. About 17 Gacha Stones monthly. Despite being on the outskirts, it’s quite spacious and nice—”
Sir Dominic’s appearance made him look like a poor knight.
It would have been better if he had worn new clothes, but since his previous outfit had been severely worn from rolling around on the battlefield, he had sent it for repairs and was wearing his old clothes.
Sir Dominic listened carefully to the real estate agent’s words and cautiously asked:
“Are there any properties for sale? I heard that with about 2,600 Gacha Stones, one could buy a house.”
“Ah. So you’re looking for that kind of property?”
The real estate agent was surprised that Sir Dominic had more money than he appeared to have, but he didn’t show it.
He was a professional in this field, and professionals should never show contempt for customers.
Even if cursing inside, smiling on the outside—that’s what being a professional meant.
The agent, sensing a potential deal, brought new materials with a noticeably brighter expression than before.
“This one is 2,490 Gacha Stones, and if you buy it, you’ll immediately become the owner. It’s been vacant for quite some time. It’s also on the outskirts, and while transportation might be a bit inconvenient, it has a garage where you can store your vehicle. And this one is close by, a castle built by someone who claimed to be a lord and invested a fortune. It went on sale after he went bankrupt, but it’s quite expensive. You’d need at least 6,000 Gacha Stones—”
Sir Dominic examined each property carefully.
The castle-like structure appealed to his chivalry, but it seemed too large and burdensome. The ordinary square space could become quite nice if the interior was well-decorated. However, for some reason, Sir Dominic didn’t find any place that truly appealed to him.
Each place seemed to be missing something. Sir Dominic fell into contemplation as he looked at buildings he had never seen or heard of before.
“May I ask what your budget is?”
The real estate agent, seeing that Sir Dominic wasn’t swayed by the bait properties, thought he was quite a formidable opponent.
However, Sir Dominic was genuinely pondering because he knew nothing about real estate, not because he was the big shot the agent thought he was.
“I’m thinking up to 7,000 Gacha Stones.”
“7,000 Gacha Stones!”
The agent’s eyes widened.
While it might not be considered a lot compared to true wealthy individuals, it certainly wasn’t a small amount either.
Gachaland had relatively cheaper housing compared to other dimensions.
With the money Sir Dominic had, he could get a decent place in the city center, or if he went to the outskirts, he could buy an entire village and set it up like a domain.
The castle he had just shown as bait, rumored to be redeveloped into a theme park within the city, was around 5,000 Gacha Stones. With 7,000 Gacha Stones, one could be considered serious about housing.
Sir Dominic looked puzzled at the agent’s burdensome gaze.
“Then how about this?”
Finally, the agent, having ended his delusion that Sir Dominic would purchase multiple buildings, played his trump card.
“Backed by mountains, facing water. More precisely, it’s right below a mountain, but it’s a charming house.”
The materials the agent provided showed a two-story building made of stone and wood. Behind it was a mountain of moderate size, with a river flowing in front, and stone fences surrounding the building.
“The bottom corner 3 pixels are classified as sea, so you can obtain seafood, and if you’re interested in farming or cultivation, you can expand upward to acquire farmland.”
I see. Sir Dominic furrowed his brow as he looked at the architectural drawing. In truth, he couldn’t understand what the design meant even by looking at it, but he still found it quite appealing.
“However, the downside is that since it was a medieval manor, the facilities are a bit outdated—”
“How much is this place?”
The agent inwardly rejoiced.
“It’s 7,400 Gacha Stones, but since it’s been on the market for a while, you only need to pay 6,980 Gacha Stones including the transaction fee.”
“Is that so?”
Sir Dominic stared at the building for a long time.
And finally, he made up his mind.
“I’ll take it.”
Sir Dominic smiled happily, finally having found the house he wanted.
And the real estate agent smiled brightly, having secured an enormous contract.
