Ch.47A Big One’s Coming (3)
by fnovelpia
The Blood Tower forum began to explode with activity once again.
[Did I miss something? Is this for real?]
[A lecture? A lecture from the Tower Master?? Is this actually happening?]
[Mom, when I grow up I want to be like Midir! Mom, when I grow up I want to be like Midir! Mom, when I grow up I want to be like Midir!]
[Breaking news) The announcement was updated, looks like there will be a Q&A session again!!]
This was only natural.
A Blood Mage who had overwhelmingly defeated the Red Tower Master, and moreover, the fact that the Blood Tower Master herself would personally teach was unprecedented.
[Analysis of what the Blood Tower Master will teach.txt]
Hello
Before I start, I’m a high-ranking mage but I won’t verify my identity, so filter me out if you want.
This won’t be long anyway.
It’s nothing special, but what do you think is the foundation of Blood Magic?
The foundation of Blood Magic is reclaiming control over the magical power contained in blood.
What this means is that although it varies depending on the rank of the creature, all living beings have a certain amount of magical power in their blood.
The reason we can use Blood Magic is because we utilize this magical power contained in blood.
This is why even a low-level Blood Mage with good blood can perform Blood Magic beyond their level.
In other words, the foundation is gaining control over blood.
This is also what most Blood Mages find most difficult about the basics.
I think there are two directions that Midir might teach us this time:
Either how to make the magical power flowing in our blood more refined, pure, and of higher quality, or how to efficiently channel our magical power into our blood to easily gain control over it.
Please upvote if you think this makes sense.
Comments:
– Upvoting the analysis first
– Good post that makes me rethink the basics of Blood Magic… Lately it seems like Blood Mages are just focused on creating flashy forms with blood, but we shouldn’t forget that Blood Magic is originally a versatile magic where offense and defense are unified with free-form manipulation…
ㄴ Upvote…
ㄴ Well said…
– Taking control of blood is seriously the hardest part… Even though it’s just magical power dissolved in blood without an owner, making it mine is really difficult…
ㄴ I still wonder how Count Vladimir came up with this method of using magic lol
ㄴㄴ It’s cool though~ Have a drink lol
– Is it really happening that the Tower Master is teaching us personally… Our Blood Tower is unique… I’m just so happy right now…
ㄴ For real…
The Blood Tower forum was literally in a festive mood.
It was a natural reaction when their idol-like figure was going to personally teach them magic.
If something like this had happened at another tower, especially the Red Tower, they might have even established an annual festival to commemorate the day.
The Blood Tower didn’t have the resources for that, though!
“Sigh…”
After checking the post with the most upvotes recently—the one speculating what Midir would teach—a man turned off his pad, shrunk it, and put it in his pocket.
Then he grinned and said:
“It’s today, right?”
“Yeah, today… Man, I’m so nervous…”
As one man shivered with excitement, the man next to him nodded in agreement.
Not just them, but other Blood Mages were also generally moving along with hearts full of anticipation, having waited only for this day.
The reason was incredible.
‘A lecture from the Blood Tower Master…!’
A lecture from a Tower Master!
Could any other tower have even imagined such a thing?
The very fact that a Tower Master, the representative of an entire Magic Tower, would personally step forward to share their knowledge with their subordinate mages was something worthy of praise in itself.
Which mage would share their research results with others?
Though they had moved away from the primitive methods of the past where mages would continue their research alone even if the world collapsed around them, and had built Magic Towers responsible for each field to conduct research together, it was still not easy for humans to abandon their instincts.
Whatever it might be, sharing what one has with others is in itself a remarkable thing.
Moreover, if it’s the result of a lifetime of research by a mage, who would want to release it to the world?
Even if they were disciples, it was out of the question.
At least, that’s what other mages thought.
If only the Blood Tower Master hadn’t posted the announcement herself.
“I worship you… GOAT…”
“Stop looking at your pad so much… I’ve never seen someone who actually says ‘GOAT’ out loud. Are you a goat?”
“What?”
The Blood Mage who had been worshipfully clasping his hands turned his head sharply with a fierce look at his friend’s playful words.
“HAH!!!”
His friend stepped back, seemingly startled by the sudden roar.
“Losing one’s faith means death…!”
“Is he crazy…”
He was indeed crazy.
Where else in the world could you attend a lecture given directly by a Tower Master?
He thought it was fortunate that he had joined the Blood Tower for the first time in his life, and that it was truly the best—that said it all.
“I wonder what kind of lecture it will be… I’m so excited…”
“What’s there to be excited about? She said she’s lecturing on the basics of Blood Magic, but how much can there be to the basics?”
The man who had been glaring fiercely at his grumbling friend once again turned his head, his eyes sparkling, when his friend told him to look ahead because they had arrived.
“If I collapse, make sure to wake me up. If I don’t wake up, give me a blood transfusion or something. If I die, come to the afterlife and tell me what the lecture was about.”
“You’ve lost your mind…”
Ignoring his friend’s head-shaking, he shouted “Yahoo!” and ran down, with his friend following.
Surprisingly, this place full of such people was the newly repaired magic practice hall.
Why teach in the magic practice hall?
The reason was simple.
There was no room in the Blood Tower that could accommodate everyone in Blood Magic, so the magic practice hall, which had a space-distorting device, was the only place where all Blood Mages could be taught.
As a result, it was an extremely uncomfortable place for a class, with old chairs and no desks, but the Blood Mages didn’t care.
Poor facilities were normal for them anyway, and just being able to attend a lecture by the Blood Tower Master in person was worth it.
So everyone took their seats, and the time that Midir had personally announced was slowly approaching.
And so the countdown began.

At that moment,
Thud!
“?!”
“A-a power outage?!”
All the lights illuminating the magic practice hall suddenly went out.
Then,
Whoosh!
A storm of blood whirled around, and bats made of blood flew across the empty space of the magic practice hall.
“W-what’s going on?!”
“Kyaaak!”
The startled Blood Mages cried out, but their exclamations didn’t last long.
The bats flew to the walls and attached themselves to the wooden fixtures there, instantly igniting them.
“F-fire?”
“How… how can Blood Magic create fire…”
Whoosh!
In the darkness where only candle flames rose, a girl appeared from within the blood storm that had risen on the stage.
Ooh!
The Blood Mages cheered.
“Midir!”
“It’s Midir!”
“Midir, you’re so cool~! Kyaaah!”
Midir, who had appeared on stage, looked around at the Blood Mages cheering for her and smiled gently.
“Nice to meet you all. I am Midir Tepes.”
“Kyaaah!”
“Waaaah!”
As soon as Midir introduced herself, the Blood Mages responded even more enthusiastically.
Midir thought to herself:
‘This isn’t some idol concert…’
It felt like she had become an idol or something.
Of course, she had prepared this time to prevent another no-show incident like her previous speech which had been quite shocking since she hadn’t prepared anything then, but…
‘I didn’t expect them to be this excited…’
If she had known, she would have prepared for the speech too.
Midir thought this to herself as she cleared her throat with a “Ahem.”
Originally, she had come on stage to strengthen all the Blood Mages using Blood Strengthening Art and to teach the basics of Blood Magic, literally.
But seeing the Blood Mages cheering and showing their appreciation for her…
‘Being an idol might not be so bad.’
I, Midir Tepes.
Perhaps I enjoy being praised by people.
Is that why I stepped forward as a member of the Hero’s party?
‘Let’s put that thought aside for now…’
Midir’s contemplation didn’t last long.
Right now, it was more important to think about where to start the lecture than to worry about such things.
The truth lies beyond…
