Ch.447Big Ship, Bigger Ship. (2)
by fnovelpia
Seeing the behavior of old-timers like me, the fresh-faced newbies (3 years in, already aging) responded with indifference, muttering that these old geezers who should be in retirement homes were making a fuss again.
Of course, their indifferent reactions quickly disappeared when they saw a post about the “Ancient Empire’s Flagship” uploaded by another veteran player.

**Title: The Ancient Empire’s Flagship is WORTH the Hype**

First off, it’s actually smaller than typical “Super Dreadnought” class ships
But its performance is absolutely broken
It has mobility just “slightly lower” than the Pirate Alliance
Shield barriers deployed “slightly less” than the Xenovia Empire
High-powered weapons fired “somewhat weaker” than the Earth Federation
And produces carrier-based aircraft and small ships at a volume “slightly weaker” than Space Monsters, etc.
It’s basically a fusion of all 4 factions, making it as powerful as each faction’s flagship as a single vessel – a truly powerful ancient relic
Of course, being a game, it’s not without weaknesses
The main issue is that it’s an ancient ship forcibly reactivated, so its barriers and mobility don’t last as long as you’d expect
And compared to the 5th regular-grade Super Dreadnought enhanced version, or even other ships, its radar detection range is ridiculooooously short
The lore says its radar malfunctioned from being so old, but honestly, without escort ships, you’re basically blind ㅇㅇ
**Comments:**
-[Whoooa]
-[It’s not really that good, just about 70% of a regular battleship]
-˪[Even that makes it disabled compared to ships of the same class…]
-˪[The setting is that it’s an ultra-ancient ship that was excavated and forced into service, what more do you want?]
-˪[Well, can’t argue with that]

Aside from its short detection range and the various restrictions on using each of its abilities…
It was the quintessential all-purpose, versatile hexagonal ship.
Most users realized just how monstrous this Ancient Empire Flagship was and responded with wailing sounds.
Of course, even amid all this, some users still didn’t understand and tilted their heads wondering if it wasn’t actually better than each faction’s ships…

If you tell adults, “I saw an amazing ship that combines the best features of each faction.”
“It has Earth Federation’s firepower, Pirate Alliance’s mobility, Xenovia’s tanking ability, and Space Monster’s production capacity.”
Adults can’t figure out what kind of ship that is.
Instead, you have to tell them, “I saw a 10,000-point ship.”
Then adults will shout, “Wow, you saw a really amazing ship!”
**Comments:**
-[What an educational story]
-[Wait, what? 10,000 points?]
-˪[Yeah, Ancient Empire ships have great performance overall but their point costs are insane]
-[A 10,000-point ship is legit]
-[Wow, so if you capture it, you get a 10,000-point ship, sweet!]
-˪[System doesn’t allow capture]
—
Eventually, all the remaining users nodded in agreement at the “10,000 points” joke left by some anonymous user.
—
Anyway, once users figured out what would appear in the raid battle, they began discussing how to most effectively take it down.
The problem was that there weren’t just 3 types of enemies, but a whopping 6 types (effectively 5).
The concerns of users including myself only deepened during the ship repair period…
These concerns were broadly divided into 2 categories.
And one of them was:

**Title: It’s Time to Capture the Ancient Empire’s Flagship**

Quite a few Pirate Alliance users have gotten Anchorage-class forced salvage ships recently
We’ll hunt it like a whale, harpooning it ㅇㅇ
How’s it gonna avoid our wormhole harpoons with all its barrier spam and whatnot? lol
**Comments:**
-[Oooooh]
-[This is literally Mo*y Dick]
-[Crazy bastards trying to do close-range harpooning in a long-range artillery event]
-˪[But it’s romantic, right?]
-˪[True that]

It was none other than the desire to capture the “Ancient Empire’s Flagship” worth a whopping 10,000 fleet points.
Just like in the gallery post above, they were planning to use forced salvage ships to prevent escape and more.
They were putting in effoooooort, trying every method they could think of…
But sadly, despite all their effoooooort, reality remained cruel in many ways.

**Title: People Keep Posting About Capturing the Ancient Empire Flagship, But It’s a Waste of Time**
**Author: PeroPeroRoron**
**Content:** [Illustration depicting the Ancient Empire.jpg]
Let me be clear about this – this applies to all Super Dreadnoughts appearing as raid bosses in this event
First, yes, the point value is high, and as we saw in the “Hive” ship storage business that Icarus started last time
There are some loopholes, so you might think you could just destroy a couple of patrol ships and capture it
But the problem is that capturing it is impossible
Why?
To capture a ship, you either need to send in superhumans and assault troops to subdue it from inside, or beat it up with your ships until it surrenders
First of all, it will never surrender
And inside these ships, there are constantly active laser traps in all directions that ignore physics and can’t be avoided, so the moment you enter, you’re melted
Whether you’re a superhuman with amazing tanking abilities or whatever, you just melt if you go inside
I don’t know if it’s a game allowance or what, but someone previously created this with mods and did various experiments
Even simultaneously deploying hundreds of thousands of assault pods and hundreds of SSS-class bruiser superhumans couldn’t capture it lol
You might ask if close-combat superhumans can’t be deployed at all, but you can land them on the outer deck to destroy various defensive weapons
Just don’t go inside ㅇㅇ
And while I briefly mentioned the points above, the real problem with these ships is that 10,000 point cost
Even if you use loopholes to capture it later, the point cost is way too high
Your fleet gets gradually worn down due to various problems, and you can’t replenish it
Remember, the maximum fleet points users can currently have without mods is around 2-3 thousand
But 10,000 points?
That alone will paralyze your shipyard
You might wonder why this is a problem, but if someone attacks your base and destroys your resource mining fleet or other ships, you’re screwed
The same goes for other fleets – you can’t replenish them when needed, they just keep getting worn down
Of course, you might think, “Hey, isn’t it worth it to get a Super Dreadnought for free?” but
The problem is you can’t sell it on the market either
Because it’s ridiculously expensive – the minimum trading price is tens to hundreds of millions of gold, and who’s going to buy that?
The moment they buy it, their fleet gets paralyzed too
Plus, the maintenance cost is disgustingly high, whether intentional or not
Daily maintenance costs hundreds of thousands of minerals and 100-200 thousand rare resources
And here’s the most critical problem
If a user somehow captures it through mods or whatever, that “uncapturable” characteristic disappears
The internal anti-capture system that operated 24/7 disappears, meaning it can be captured by other users at any time
So what’s the conclusion?
Whoever tries to capture it will end up no better than a car-poor person before long ㅇㅇ
**Comments:**
-[Holy shit]
-[Then how did they handle it before? The person who captured it with mods?]
-˪[Obviously they removed it quickly since it was a mod ㅇㅇ] (Author)
-[It clearly shows it was made purely as an event boss]
-[Well, that sucks]

With veteran players openly advising against it and warning that it would lead to ruin…
Unfortunately, the formation of whaling fleets for whale hunting gradually diminished.
