Ch.424The NPC Going to Haiti (3)

Despite being called a Sand Dragon, it’s not actually a dragon. If I had to compare it to something, it’s closer to a giant worm. I don’t know who named it, but I suspect someone who first saw its elongated body mistakenly thought it was a dragon.

    -KUUUNG!!!

    “Damn it?!!”

    “Kyaaah?!!”

    “Sis?!!”

    “Ira! Hold on tight!!”

    “Wuuut!! I’m fiiine!!”

For just a brief moment, I tried to escape the reality that Ira was our only ranged attacker in the group, but the creature rammed the train again, and Ira inflated her ball as much as possible, using magic to keep the train steady.

Ira, I’m sorry your brother is so useless.

Although Ira’s power has grown stronger since she restrained Behemoth’s neck, the weight of this train alone might be equivalent to that monster’s neck. Moreover, there are several tons of materials loaded in the cargo cars behind us, possibly making it even heavier. Finally, this isn’t just about lifting or lowering—she’s trying to keep the train from overturning while maintaining speed and “flying” forward. No matter how much magical power Ira has gained, even surpassing the Academy Director’s level, this performance is beyond her limits. Ah, if it weren’t for the sandstorm outside, I would have jumped off already, seriously.

“Jack?! This isn’t the time to be lost in thought!! What are you going to do? Ira won’t be able to withstand another collision at this rate!!”

Chikuyo, who was supporting Ira with her fluffy tail, shouted as she noticed my sister’s complexion turning from red to blue. I rubbed my brow. Ah, there’s really no solution? Isn’t there any way to stop this train?

“Impossible! If we brake suddenly at this speed, the train will definitely overturn!! We’ll only be choosing whether to enter the beast’s stomach dead or alive!!”

Chairman Tork Bigman, who was wearing a seatbelt with his maid and wife, Ms. Owell, answered my question with an equally poor complexion. It might be infuriating that he’s the only one safely seated while the rest of us are standing, but everyone in our group knows that his maid and wife, Ms. Owell, is currently pregnant. In other words, he’s desperately trying to protect his wife and the child in her womb more than anyone else here. Anyway, that’s not the important issue.

“…I have no choice. I’ll get off. I don’t know if it will chase me right away, but this is our only option.”

“What?! What are you talking about?! There’s a storm outside right now!!”

“Jack!! If you’re going, take me too!! I can help!!”

    “Miho! Why you too?!!”

“…This is maddening. I thought I was traveling with human friends, but from the start, we’re risking our lives. I’ve never experienced anything like this in Siltra.”

“If Jack is going, I’m going too. Ira can protect the train by herself. We wouldn’t be much help here anyway. Chikuyo, you’re staying, right? Please protect Ira.”

“Are you crazy?! Who said I don’t want to go?! The problem is that if we open the door and go out, we’ll be blown away!!”

No, I’m going alone. Why are you all checking your weapons? And Chikuyo, I didn’t say you couldn’t come. Don’t fight.

“Ui!! I didn’t say I wasn’t going!! And Jack said he’s getting off, but he didn’t say he’s stopping the train, right? That means he’s just jumping off from here?!”

    “””Eh?”””

Yes, that’s right. I don’t plan to stop the train. So everyone stays here and moves with the train, while I get off and attack the monster. I never thought I’d be filming a scene of jumping off a moving train in a medieval fantasy world, but anyway, it’s true that I’m the toughest one here without Gorg.

After explaining this to everyone, the first to stop me was, of course, my adorable little sister.

“Brother!! I can hold out until we’re past the sandstorm, so just wait—!!”

    -KWAAANG!!!

    “””KYAAAH!?”””

No, it’s impossible. This collision confirmed it. Fortunately, Ira didn’t bite her tongue despite being hit while speaking, but her complexion has now turned from blue to pale. Clearly, with the next collision, both Ira’s magic and magical power will be completely depleted. I told everyone to take care of Ira and left the chairman’s car…

    “Huh?”

“…These little ones said they wanted to see you and your sister. Do you know them?”

Brans Wigel, the captain of the chairman’s guard. Had he been attacked during a meal? With food spilled on his helmet, he appeared carrying two girls we knew all too well under his arms like baggage.

What? What’s this? Huh? Am I hallucinating? Wait, why are you two here?!!

    “Grace?! Latina?!!”

    “I-I’m sorry…”

“Ah, hello… or not? Somehow, every time we meet, it’s not exactly a pleasant situation…”

Seeing the distant attacker’s embarrassed expression with drooping eyebrows and trembling pupils, I couldn’t help but let a smile creep onto my face.

    *

[-Occupation: Second Daughter of a Count’s Family- Level 603 Grace Müller. Age 14.]

[-Occupation: Academy Student- Name: Latina. Level: 402 Age: 15]

“Are we really going outside?! I’m only fourteen!! Even if our country has fallen, I’m still a noble!!”

“W-we’re sorry!! Brother, I don’t want to die yet!!!”

I understand how despicable my actions seem—carrying fresh-faced girls tied up like luggage and making such ominous statements. But really, there’s no other way!

“Is this really okay? I mean, illegal boarding is wrong, but they’re just kids, so there’s no need to kill them…”

“No!! Captain, why are you like this too?! I explained! These kids are almost as strong as my sister!!”

Honestly, they’re not quite as strong as Ira, but they’re definitely among the strongest normal humans. If I hold them while jumping, neither will die!!

Ignoring the teary-eyed young girls looking at me and the guard captain standing anxiously at the entrance, I spoke to Latina.

“You’ve contracted with a wind spirit, right? There’s a storm outside, so just ask it to defend us. Don’t worry. Even if my arms get torn off, I won’t drop either of you.”

    “Hueeeng…”

“Grace, you can use gravity magic, right? We just need one moment. Stop it just before it rams the train. I’ll handle the rest.”

“If I die, the Müller family won’t forget this…”

It’s good to see that even though they both protest, they don’t struggle while I’m carrying them and follow my instructions precisely. Really, I’m so fortunate that these kids are Ira’s friends. Well, I’ll scold them later for sneaking onto the train. I watched as the two quietly began casting their magic, and immediately used my radar skill to confirm the creature’s approach.

‘Oh no, it’ll ram us again in about 30 seconds.’

Despite the extremely tight situation, I waited for the two to prepare their spirit arts and magic, and with about 20 seconds left, they began to signal that they were ready. Good.

    “Please open it.”

    -KWAAAAAAAA!!!”

    “”⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯?!?!!””

As the forcibly opened train door let the sandstorm rush in, both girls started screaming as if they were about to die, but unfortunately, their screams were completely drowned out by the wind. Without hesitation, I immediately threw myself out, jumping outside, grabbing the edge of the door with one hand to maintain balance, and climbed onto the top of the train.

This girl Latina—despite her lack of confidence, she seems quite skilled with spirit arts, almost perfectly blocking the sandstorm and the train’s wind pressure, making it easier to climb up than I expected.

    “⎯⎯?!!?!”

    “Huh?! What?!”

    “⎯⎯⎯!?!?!?”

    “I can’t hear you!! We’ll talk later!!!”

I’m not ignoring them—I genuinely can’t understand. The wind spirit is blocking most of the train’s wind pressure and the sandstorm, but not the noise, so I can’t make out what they’re saying. Anyway, I immediately stood firmly on top of the moving train and pointed in the direction the monster was approaching from. Grace kept shouting something at me, but I still couldn’t hear anything. More importantly, we have less than 10 seconds left. We need to stop it as soon as it appears—I wonder if she can handle it.

Feeling slightly anxious, I kept pointing, and finally, the girl who seemed to have given up shouting gripped her staff tightly and aimed it at the invisible sandstorm. And then, as if on cue.

    [KUPA⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯!!!]

Something that sounds like it’s shouting “Kupa!” appears—a giant worm launching its head toward the train. Please, stop it now, now!!

    “⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯!!!”

As if she heard my mental plea, her staff glowed blue, and instantly the surrounding air and sandstorm subsided, stopping the monster’s body just before it could ram the train.

    Nice!! Perfect timing!!

    -PAT!!”

    “⎯⎯⎯⎯?!!?”

    “⎯⎯⎯⎯!?!?”

As I jumped with all my might toward the perfectly stopped monster’s head, I felt like the girls were crying out something, but I kicked the creature’s jaw with full force, sending it back into the sandstorm.
