Ch.402Humanity is Awakening (3)
by fnovelpia
Just as I was about to bring up what I’d discovered about the Anatolia-class during this event,
Princess Luca, upon hearing about it, exploded with rage: “WHY DIDN’T YOU BRING THAT HERE?!!!” at that very moment.

-[Oh, is this the Triangle Zone?]
-[Is this really that den of iniquity, the Central District? My heart is pounding]
-[Hello]
-[Hello]
-[Did you all evacuate here because of some war?]
-[No, not exactly]
-[We’ll be leaving tomorrow, so don’t worry too much and carry on with your business]
-[I see]
—————————————–
‘What’s going on?’
Looking at the situation, not only had their base been destroyed in the war,
Most of their ships had exploded too, leaving only a few assorted gacha ships. Despite this…

-[Anyone available to do repairs?]
-[I can compensate for resources used and mining time lost]
-[?]
-[Oh, then I’ll do it for you]

Instead of transforming from refugees into criminals, they were behaving like gentlemen during their entire stay.
Seeing this “refugee fleet” displaying such peculiar composure, I was growing increasingly confused.
But these puzzling thoughts didn’t last long…
They used their own resources to have other users repair their severely damaged ships.
—————————————–
<Coleslaw is requesting to chat with Commander>
<Accept?>
<Y/N>
—————————————–
When the supposed leader of this refugee fleet suddenly sent me a chat request, I accepted it out of curiosity.
Surprisingly, he revealed they weren’t mere refugees but a kind of rear strike force and spies directly employed by the Humanity clan.
He claimed that once they returned to the Earth Federation and if Humanity managed to take control,
They would immediately dock at the base and live in prosperity, which is why they weren’t causing trouble here.
Of course, I just listened with an “Oh, how interesting” attitude.
But I couldn’t understand why he was telling me this, so I expressed my confusion.
To my bewilderment, this user named Coleslaw said:
—————————————–
<Coleslaw-Icarus Chat Room>
-[Well, I heard you’re friendly with Humanity]
-[I talked to our handler, and they said it was okay to tell you?](Coleslaw)
-[Uh…hmm.](Icarus)
—————————————–
When he responded like that, I was thoroughly confused.
But Jessica, who was looking at the chat beside me, said:
“Since it’s come to this, let’s use this opportunity to extract information they might have that we don’t know.”
“Oh.”
Finding this a sensible plan, I nodded and proceeded to learn various minor episodes from Coleslaw—or rather, Humanity’s spy team.
I discovered things I couldn’t have known otherwise, like the true cause of the conflict between the Loki clan and Biomass clan.
Of course, these revelations came in exchange for guaranteeing the spy users’ safety within the Triangle Zone.
The next morning,
When the 24-hour cooldown ended and it was time for them to continue their journey to the Earth Federation,
They naturally ended the chat, preventing any further information leaks.
While I felt somewhat disappointed at losing such a valuable source of information…
-Beep, beep!
“Commander, another commander is requesting to dock at Tannhäuser.”
“Oh boy, here we go.”
Perhaps due to the Humanity coup in the Earth Federation,
And the dual-front formation between Loki clan’s Humanity and Biomass,
PVP enthusiasts and solo players with nothing better to do from the Central District were quietly docking at Tannhäuser, hoping to become mercenaries.
There were also “agent” users still at Tannhäuser looking to profit from these users…
Naturally, there were cases where users would start fighting when negotiations didn’t go their way.
I was kept busy suppressing those who fought among themselves instead of quietly contributing resources.
Since I wasn’t planning to join a clan, I didn’t need to worry much about inter-clan politics…
Thoughts about the Humanity spies were quickly half-buried in my mind.
==========
While Icarus was dealing with wannabe mercenaries from the Central District,
Antares and the children—no, Humanity—were engaged in full-scale war with the Earth Federation, leading nearly 180,000 users…
They had started well by destroying the Federation’s patrol and main forces through a lightning strike.
But at this point, Antares and the Humanity executives felt like their brains might explode from confusion that far exceeded their expectations.
And the reason for this was…

<Notice: Let’s devour the Earth Federation>
-[Where the hell are the enemies?]
-[I think it’s more important to know where WE are first]
-[This is driving me crazy]
-[Where’s the front line?]
-[If you’re outside the Earth Federation, just push straight in; if you’re inside, you’re on your own]
-[LOL what?]
-[I’m hitting Federation patrol bases who are hitting me who are hitting other users who are hitting Federation main forces who are hitting other clans]
-[I’m losing my mind]

<Humanity Executive Chat Room>
<Notice: Urgent request for Earth Federation countermeasures>
-[Guys, this is completely messed up]
-[The situation is too chaotic LOL]
-[Stop whining and come up with a strategy]
-[Elite members are already moving around trying to figure out routes]
-[Damn, we lost connection with the southeastern Federation]
-[‘Bayraktar’ is requesting emergency support, saying they can’t hold out as Federation main forces are hammering them with Ouroboros and other siege-type battleships]
-[There’s the ‘Bernard’ base nearby, tell the users stationed there to go support]
-[Those users used Elysion to teleport to ‘New Saint-Germain’ to take it over, and Bernard was captured instead]
-[LOLOLOLOL]
-[This is driving me insane]
—————————————–
The situation had gone beyond confusion to complete chaos, burning through their feeble brains in real-time.
If there had been something resembling a “front line,” they might have managed to make progress somehow.

-[Aaaaargh]
-[<Earth Federation Territory Status of Federation and Coup Forces.jpg>]
-[Here’s the latest power distribution]
-[Oh god]
-[Looks exactly like mold growing on a wall]
—————————————–
There was no front line, not even a distinction between “front” and “rear.”
Both sides were only capturing “points” through bases while fighting each other in real-time everywhere else.
It had suddenly become a war of all against all, leaving Antares and the executives completely overwhelmed, not knowing where to begin addressing the chaos.
